Seasoned entrepreneur Paulo Trezentos founded software development company Caixa Mágica Software in 2000. He continued to work on his business while pursuing his master’s and a PhD in Computer Science from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal. Caixa Mágica Software handled many projects, including Aptoide, an independent Android app marketplace that later became a separate company. Trezentos closed his first company in 2015. After being one of the creators of the Basque Agency for Innovation, Uriarte became an early investor of Indexa Capital and Bewa7er, both of which are co-founded by Unai Asenjo Barra.

Led by co-founder and Managing Partner Alexandre Barbosa, Faber Ventures is a pan-European venture capital firm with offices in Lisbon and London. It was founded in 2012 with VCs Caixa Capital and Shilling Capital Partners investors in Faber Ventures.The firm works alongside founders from idea to market, either as co-founders or angel investors, and typically continues to support the startup as seed co-investors. Faber Ventures also supports startups at the seed stage with financial investment and hands-on mentorship.
