Homegrown developer appears on track to build a multimedia franchise following its successful DreadOut game about Indonesian folklore ghosts, the DreadOut movie and merchandise lines. 

Founded in 2017 in Hong Kong, Happiness Capital invests in seed to growth stage companies in the US, Europe, Israel, and China, with a focus on issues affecting global happiness within the areas of citizen trust, food, health, climate change, and reduced inequalities. It hosts its own annual contest, the Super Happiness Challenge , a global open innovation contest to fund individuals and startups with ideas and new products or services that tapped into unmet needs to achieve happiness, with a possible $1m in total investment on offer. The VC currently has 37 startups in its portfolio, around half of which are in foodtech and agtech. Its most recent investments include leading the $4.7m July 2021 seed funding round of NovoNutrients, the US-based biotech producer of alt-protein from fermentation using CO2 and other emissions, and co-leading the $29m February 2021 Series A round of Israeli 3D printed alt-meat startup Redefine Meat.

Imron graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 2001 with a bachelors in Industrial Design. In 2004, he founded Irisdesain, a studio which fulfilled below the line corporate branding needs. In 2013, Imron co-founded Digital Happiness, an Indonesian video games development studio. Prior to setting up Digital Happiness, he was a 3D animator and design consultant. He created a simulation game for the Indonesian army. He is now CEO of Digital Happiness.

Vanadi is co-founder of Digital Happiness, an Indonesian video game development studio. He directed the studio’s commercially successful title and popular video game, DreadOut and its sequel and related titles. Vanadi was also responsible for the storytelling in those titles. He is self-taught and works primarily with the gaming engine, Unreal. Digital Happiness is his first professional endeavor. 

Founded in 1979 by Indonesian businessman Ronny Lukito, PT Eigerindo Multi Produk Industri is an Indonesian apparel, accessories, bags, equipment and footwear company based in Bandung, capital of Indonesia’s West Java province. Its brands focus on tropical, outdoor adventure and urban, lifestyle gear and fashion. The company owns three brands, including Eiger, Bodypack and Exsport. Digital Happiness is the first company it funded. 

Founded in 1995, Digital Garage aims to provide new contexts for businesses by integrating the three technologies of Information (IT), Marketing (MT) and Finance (FT) to create seamless solutions. It has invested in more than 50 companies.

Media Digital Ventures is the first Spanish Cross-Media fund focusing on Media for Equity. It holds multichannel advertising assets across major media sectors. Based in Barcelona, MDV also creates multimedia and advertising campaigns for scaling high-growth startups in return for equity.MDV is co-founded by Gerard Olivé and Miguel Vicente. Both are serial entrepreneurs, investors and co-founders of Antai Venture Builder, Wallapop, Deliberry and Chicplace. Vicente, who exited LetsBonus which he founded in 2009, is also the president of Barcelona Tech City.

PT Global Digital Niaga is the parent company of Blibli, one of Indonesia’s leading e-commerce websites. The company is a subsidiary of Djarum Group, an Indonesian conglomerate most famous for its tobacco business. In 2017, GDN acquired travel booking website Tiket.com and its sister website Indonesia Flight.

Paris-based Orange Digital Ventures is part of French telco Orange and was established in 2015. It invests up to €150m in businesses with technology that aligns with Orange's development plans. It has a geographical focus on Africa and has made a commitment to boosting the continent's startup ecosystem through its 2017 €50m dedicated Africa fund. Recent investments include fintech Monzo's US$144m Series F round and B2C savings and investment marketplace Raisin's US$$114m Series D round.

Dario Cifrodelli is the head of Digital Transformation at Volkswagen Financial Service. He previously held the same role in AXA for more than 6 years. He specialized in digital services strategy, leading the transformation of digital insurance and financial services. He is also an angel investor in fintech startups.

Terrence Teong Chee Hooi is the founder of Digital Alpha Group Pte Ltd and PT Digital Alpha Indonesia, which is the holding company of UangTeman.

Founded in 2012 in San Francisco, Joyance invests in the “vectors of happiness” that it classifies as areas of science, including genetics and bioscience, the microbiome, neuroscience, virtual and augmented reality,  and foodtech. It also invests in the area of social networking. Its investments are made through its management company, Ataraxia, and many have a European focus. It currently has 115 companies in its portfolio, with recent investments including in the August 2021 $3.6m seed round of Polish bionic limb manufacturer and in the July 2021 $8m Series A round of Israeli sports injury AI platform Zone7.
