Charlotte Street Capital is a London-based venture capital firm focused on early stage investments. It invests from £150,000 to £1 million in innovative technology businesses, ranging from hardware products, software and services in the B2C and B2B sectors.

Eurovending is a family-run, Italian business in the automatic vending sector based in Trento. To date, it has only invested  in one tech startup, the Spanish vending machine hardware and interactive payment app Orain, leading its €1m seed investment round in 2017. The company is a producer of plastic cups and also rents and services automatic vending machines across Italy and Spain.

A former computer programmer turned investment banker, Liu Yuan spent two years on Wall Street before returning to China, where he founded two startups, zhekouwang (a discount information site) and ximi.com (online store selling snacks to office workers). He is also a founding partner of the Intellectual Capital Investors Association that assists innovators to start their own businesses and to help new companies to scale.

Zailouxia, which installs public refrigerators in residential neighborhoods, enables users to get fresh produce just downstairs.

Founded in 2012, Purple Orange’s objective is to support the transition away from animals in the food chain, supporting early-stage food and biotech companies across the globe with a focus on alternative proteins and cellular agriculture. It currently has 12 startups from different nations in its portfolio. Its most recently disclosed investments have been in the December 2020 pre-seed round of Chinese cultured meat startup CellX and in the November 2020 $500,000 pre-seed round of Swedish plant-based food vending startup VEAT. 

Chinese rock musician and composer Wang Feng was the founder and lead vocals of the rock band No. 43 Baojia Street. In 2015, Wang invested in Yemalive and officially released the FIIL headset brand.

With almost 20 years’ experience, ChinaEquity Group is one of the first Chinese investment firms. It was founded by Wang Chaoyong, a former child prodigy and one of the first Chinese people to study abroad and work on Wall Street as a banker. ChinaEquity Group invests in TMT, high-end consumption, internet, etc.

Alex Benzer is the co-founder of online video community Vidme and the co-creator of Curate LA and Represent LA. Previously, he co-founded SocialEngine and Fanmix. Benzer received his bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship from University of Redlands. As an undergraduate, he won the Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship.

Tim Hart is an investor and consultant at Charlotte Street Capital, focusing on early stage and general tech businesses. He became a non-executive director at Nixplay and Creedon Technologies Limited in 2017. He joined the advisory board of Chorus Intelligence Ltd in 2016. He has acquired a wide range of finance and trading experience since 1989 when he started work as a junior trader at James Capel.  He has also served as VP at Robert Fleming, a director at Merrill Lynch and MD of Deutsche Bank.

UK-born serial entrepreneur Edward Hamilton founded his first tech startup, Lavalocker, in Barcelona in 2013 to provide on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning services. He later built on the smart-locker technology to establish Mayordomo that launched Smart Point in 2016, a digital vending system with smart lockers to offer personal shopping, delivery and pickups for over 200 categories of goods and services. Hamilton graduated in Business Administration from Berkeley, University of California in 2000. He worked for almost four years at WP Carey & Co in New York specializing in investments and acquisitions. In March 2006, he moved to London to work as a real estate equity investment manager at Barclay’s Capital. In 2010, he went to Spain to work as a Green Bean business coach for SMEs based in Barcelona. His latest venture is Droppo, which he co-founded in 2019. Based in Barcelona, Droppo is a zero-emission electric last-mile logistics transport network.

Founded in 2018, Tilia Impact Ventures is the first social impact fund in the Czech Republic. Co-founding partner Silke Horáková has worked in private equity and is also a co-owner of Albatross Media. Co-founding partner Petr Vítek has worked for nine years as a Deloitte consultant. He is also co-founder of Impact Hub in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. Both have experience working in the social enterprise sector.  About 23 investors have contributed to the impact fund. Tilia plans to have 10 local social impact companies in its portfolio, each with an expected investment life of five to seven years. The VC has invested in four companies to date: smart vending SaaS platform MIWA Technologies, data-mining startup Datlab, ready-made spectacles supplier DOT glasses and waste-to-resource marketplace Cyrkl.
