With plans to expand across Europe, StudentFinance uses AI-powered screening platform to recruit and train students to plug the skills gaps in fast-growing tech sectors.

Spanish-born Juan Urdiales is best known as the co-CEO and co-founder of UK-based employment site Jobandtalent where he has worked since 2009. As angel investors, Urdiales and co-CEO Felipe Navio have also participated in the €1.15m seed round of fintech StudentFinance in 2019.

Portuguese-born Nuno Sebastião is best known as the CEO and co-founder of risk management platform Feedzai where he has worked since 2010. Based in San Francisco, he is also a senior advisor at Oak VC and as an individual investor, he has participated in the €1.15 seed round of fintech StudentFinance.

Rolf Schrömgens is best known as the CEO and co-founder of travel marketplace Trivago, where he has worked since 2006. The German entrepreneur is also a prolific early-stage investor.His most recent investments include participation in the €1.15m seed round of fintech StudentFinance and €8m Series A funding for German biotech innes.

Spanish-born Felipe Navio has previously worked as a business analyst at McKinsey & Company.  Since 2009, he has worked as the co-CEO and co-founder of UK-based employment site Jobandtalent.Navio and co-CEO Juan Urdiales are also angel investors, participating in the €1.15m seed round of fintech StudentFinance in 2019.

Sérgio Pereira is an independent innovation expert at the European Commission, assisting with research and innovation assignments including policy design, monitoring of projects and the evaluation of various programs and proposals. He graduated with a master's in Computer Science at the New University of Lisbon and started his career as a consultant at Accenture. The Portuguese co-founder of StudentFinance has been working as CTO at the fintech since 2019. Prior to this, he founded Tech HQ as CTO of the tech consultancy where he continues to work part-time. Pereira has also worked as CTO at Boston-based student finance and talent platform FutureFuel. The serial entrepreneur has also co-founded Clickly, a Dutch content discovery platform and sportstech Goalstat. 

José Neves is best known as the CEO and co-founder of fashion unicorn Farfetch, one of Portugal's most successful startups to date. London-based Neves is also a non-executive director at the British Fashion Council. He has set up his own foundation to spend two-thirds of Farfetch's profits on innovation projects. As an angel investor, he has so far invested in two startups: Portuguese fintech StudentFinance and fashion platform where he is also an advisor.

Mustard Seed MAZE is a Lisbon-based VC firm that invests in early-stage startups, primarily in social impact enterprises. Endowed with €40m, the VC has invested in projects dealing with food wastage, human trafficking, postnatal depression and general healthcare.So far, it has managed one exit, with the majority of its portfolio of 20 companies based in Europe. Recent investment rounds include $3m seed funding for Portuguese mesh network tech HypeLabs, €1.15m seed round for Spanish fintech StudentFinance and $12m Series B round for UK-based food waste app Winnow.

Marta Palmeiro graduated in Business Administration and Management at Portugal's Nova School of Business and Economics in 2007. She went to London to work at Credit Suisse as an intern and joined the bank's graduate program in 2007. She stayed in London until 2010 and went on to work at Credit Suisse in Madrid until July 2016. The VP of Investment Banking (Capital Markets) was primarily responsible for Iberian accounts.Based in Lisbon, she is now a partner at Pier Partners VC where she has worked since 2016. She has completed courses in fintech and blockchain business strategy run by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Oxford university's Said Business School respectively.  In 2018, she became a board member of Portugal Fintech, an NGO overseeing the development of the country's fintech ecosystem. In August 2019, the mother-of-three became a fintech entrepreneur as the Portuguese co-founder and CFO of StudentFinance.

Portuguese serial entrepreneur and angel investor, Carlos Oliveira is formerly the Secretary of State for Entrepreneurship, Competitiveness and Innovation in Portugal. He is also one of the 15 members of the European Commission's high-level group of innovators tasked with the creation of the European Innovation Council.In 2000, Oliveira founded a mobile services startup MobiComp and worked as its CEO until 2008 when he sold the company to Microsoft. He has also founded and invested in several startups, including StudentFinance fintech's €1.15m seed round. He is currently the executive president of the José Neves Foundation, set up by Farfetch founder José Neves to invest and transform Portugal into a knowledge economy.
