Founded in 2000, Shan Xiangshuang's private equity outfit China Science & Merchants Investment Management Group (CSC) has about US$10 billion under management. It has an extensive network in China and built relationships with more than 1,000 LPs. Dubbed "China's Schwarzman," Shan set up CSC with RMB 600,000. The company went public on China's New Third Board (NEEQ) in 2015, where it raised almost US$2 billion.

YI Capital was founded in 2014 by Chen Wenjiang and Li Muqing, both formerly of CDH Investments. YI Capital’s investment focuses are housing, finance, automotive, express delivery, e-commerce and lifestyle. It manages around RMB 2.5 billion in capital.

Li is a TV presenter, entrepreneur and investor. Born in June 1970, she joined Beijing TV in 1993 as a news anchor. From 1995 to 1999, Li worked at CCTV as a TV show host. In 1999, she left CCTV and co-founded Fleet Entertainment with fellow TV host Dai Jun. The two co-hosted Super Talk Show from 2000 to 2016, one of the most highly viewed shows in China. Li founded cosmetics e-retailer in 2008, skincare brand JPlus in 2009 and Star Venture Fund in 2015.

Founded in 2015 by Beijing News, Beijing Culture Investment Development Group, among other funds, the Born For Maker program was renamed Shanshui Investment in April 2018 by Chairman of the Board Dai Zigeng, former publisher of Beijing News and CEO of Beijing Culture Investment Development Group. Wang Yuechun, former editor-in-chief of Beijing News, was named founder of Shanshui Investment. Born For Maker, an incubator program, holds an annual startup competition. In 2016, the program set up an investment fund.
