Irma Hidayana, one of the initiators of Indonesia Cicak anti-corruption movement, is reading a doctorate at the Teachers’ College in Columbia University. She graduated from Gadjah Mada University and has a master’s in Public Health from Montclair State University. Irma started her career as an intern consultant at UNICEF and has been a consultant for the baby food industry and IYCF in UNICEF since 2014. She has worked as an ICT consultant to expand maternal and neonatal survival projects in six Indonesian provinces since 2012. Irma was also a co-founder of the Indonesian Breastfeeding Counsellor Association IKMI.

Gregorius Bimantoro is a serial entrepreneur. He founded a marketing agency for healthcare issues Atoma Medical in 2009, while training as a doctor at Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya in Indonesia. He also set up a healthcare website TanyaDok in 2012 and continues to lecture on healthcare entrepreneurship at Atma Jaya. The online pharmacy ProSehat is his latest venture.

After graduating as a doctor at Universitas Katolik Atma Jaya in Indonesia, Agnes Susanto joined Atoma Medical as operations manager in 2011. She completed a master’s in Public Health, Hospital and Healthcare Facilities at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in 2016. She also co-founded ProSehat, a medical e-commerce startup as an offshoot of Atoma Medical.

Getting access to a computer in his elementary school piqued Márcio Colunas’s interest in informatics. This led to a degree in Computer and Telematics Engineering at the University of Aveiro, where he carried out research and development in biomedical systems. His work was integral to his career, having co-founded SWORD Health, a technology company disrupting medical-physical rehabilitation. Born in 1987, Colunas is also a co-founder of Findster Technologies, the company behind the Findster Duo GPS pet tracker.

Indra Halim graduated in 2003 with a degree in Business and IT from RMIT University in Australia. He has been an investor in Medan’s Gelato Bar since 2010. As a co-founder of health food startup Lesssalt and food information website kulinermedan, Indra has extensive experience in the culinary world. He was also CFO for three years at Benah.in, a now-defunct social media website for SMEs. In 2015, he joined Paprika as a co-founder and CMO but left the company in 2016.

In 2015, José Bastos left a high-flying financial career to become the CEO and co-founder of Knok Healthcare, now known as Knokcare. He wanted to create a better healthcare system for consumers in Portugal, especially busy working parents who could not take time off work to bring their sick children to see the doctor at government clinics.Bastos graduated in Economics at the University of Porto in 1998. He worked at Sonae SGPS for over eight years, starting out as a financial controller and rising to become Head of Corporate Finance. In 2006, he became the MD of corporate finance firm Change Partners. He then joined as director at a family investment firm in 2009, before working for Sonae again in 2013.

A serial entrepreneur who co-founded three startups, Tiago Craveiro graduated from the University of Porto with a master’s in Industrial Engineering Management. Craveiro co-founded HUUB, Iterar and Knokcare.

A licensed pharmacist, Carolina Relvas graduated from the University of Lisbon and has an MBA from the University of Cambridge, UK. She started her career at GSK and is currently a manager at ZS Associates, a pharmaceutical and healthcare consultancy.Relvas co-founded medical consultation app Knokcare, previously known as Knok Healthcare. She was the CMO of Knokcare from 2015 until late 2018.

André Sousa has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Porto, but his passion lies in web development and building mobile applications. Sousa enjoys making responsive websites and has been building apps on iOS and Android since 2010.João Magalhães and Sousa co-founded software company Iterar in 2011 and healthtech Knokcare in 2015. Sousa is the mobile developer for both startups.

A senior engineer with nearly two decades of experience, Pedro Moreira was a consultant for 11 years before he became a project manager at Aguas do Porto. He is currently an IT director at Aguas do Porto.In 2015, Moreira co-founded Portuguese startup Knok Healthcare, now known as Knokcare. The healthtech’s chief strategist is also an assistant professor at the Polytechnic of Porto’s School of Engineering. He received his master’s degree from the University of Minho, and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Porto.

With a degree in electrical engineering from UCLA and a master’s from Stanford University, Jonathan Sun has rich experience in the IT industry worldwide.  He used to work at Lockheed Martin and Yahoo, and is the former CTO of 1pai (an online auction site by Yahoo and Sina) and iKang (a leading healthcare management company in China).  

Fransiskus Xaverius is an experienced software engineer. He worked as an intern at RIM and Google during his Computer Science degree course at the University of Washington, USA. After graduating in 2011, he worked as a software engineer at various American tech companies, including the online game firm Zynga, Castlight Health and Homejoy. He returned to Indonesia after leaving Homejoy in 2015 to co-found Qlapa, an online marketplace for handmade products.

However, by July 2016 he had left the company, and joined Phoenix Television as a vice-president and the general manager of Phoenix News Services. ePeizhen was acquired by Paiyipai (a online healthcare company) in September that year. In January 2015, he founded ePeizhen, a mobile healthcare startup. With 15 years of experience in the Chinese internet industry, Yue Jianxiong was the general manager of Sohu News at the peak of his career, committing years to building it into one of China’s top online news sites. He left Sohu in August 2014.

As a graduate in Biomedical Engineering from Southeast University as well as Clinical Medicine from Nanjing Medical University, Chai Xueting has always been aware of the issues plaguing the traditional medical imaging system. The exorbitant cost of archiving past records and the lack of a comprehensive medical image sharing system between hospitals for a fully effective diagnosis have long raised concerns in his mind.  But it was while taking his young daughter to the hospital for a health checkup, personally experiencing these issues, that Chai became ever more determined to build a cloud-based medical system – hence his founding of Eimageglobal.  In 2017, Chai won the “Young Tech Giant” Award by Zhejiang Entrepreneur Committee. 

Azalea Ayuningtyas has a bachelor’s in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Michigan, as well as a master’s in Epidemiology from the Harvard University School of Public Health. She worked for one year as a consultant at Simon-Kucher & Partners in USA before returning to Indonesia to pursue her dream of using her skills to help people. In 2014, she co-founded Du’Anyam together with two high school friends. Azalea is the CEO of the social enterprise that seeks to empower women from Indonesia’s subsistence farming households.
