Yangon-based social impact investor Phandeeyar Accelerator was born out of Code for Change Myanmar, a series of hackathons in 2014 and its accelerator is the Yangon chapter of Founder Institute. It is a keen part of Myanmar’s nascent tech ecosystem.With a $2m fund, the VC began investing in local startups in 2017 with a maximum funding of $25,000. It has invested in 17 companies including restaurant booking app Resdi and apartment sharing app Nay Var.

Argentinian native Nicolas Manrique is CEO and co-founder at Psquared, Spain’s first flexible workplace management and design company for hybrid workspaces, where he has worked since 2019. He is also a part-time advisor and investor at startup development agency We Are Grit, since its foundation in 2020. Since 2014, he has also been the owner of a marketing agency for SMEs in his native Buenos Aires, called Estudio Cuervo. In 2018, Manrique founded the Barcelona chapter of Argentinian startup co-working agency La Maquinita. Manrique holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Buenos Aires’ Pontifical Catholic University.

Francis Obirikorang completed a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering in 2006 at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana.In 2008, Obirikorang started work as a technical writer at Esoko, a Ghanaian digital development agency in Accra, where he met web developer Michael Ocansey. Obirikorang left Esoko in 2010 and became lead technical writer for Corenett, a transactions processing management company. In 2013, he worked at digital advertising agency TXT Ghana as a business analyst until 2015.In January 2015, Obirikorang and Ocansey established their first startup Swappaholics Holdings in the British Virgin Islands. In 2016, the two friends also co-founded AgroCenta (Holdings) Limited in Mauritius with Obirikorang as CEO and Ocansey as CTO. Ocansey left the Swappaholics in 2016 to focus on building AgroCenta.Obirikorang still runs both companies as CEO and joined the global entrepreneur community Startup Grind in 2016 as chapter director of Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city.

David Katz is the Canadian co-founder, president and CEO of Plastic Bank, a-first-of-a-kind social enterprise startup that monetizes plastic waste collection for some of the world’s poorest communities. Katz was inspired by a university seminar about recycling plastic waste in 2013 and founded Plastic Bank with CTO and brand strategist Shaun Frankson in Vancouver.In 2019, he became a fellow for the Unreasonable Group’s Impact Hub in Vancouver, an organization that supports social and environmental entrepreneurship. In 2011, he also founded Vancouver’s Core Values Institute, a consulting and global thought leadership platform for entrepreneurs.In 2014, he was also president of Vancouver’s chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization for one year. He was named Global Citizen of the Year in 2014 by the international organization that has a network of over 10,000 business owners in 131 chapters across 40 countries. He also won the 2017 UN Lighthouse award for Planetary Health and Plastic Bank received the Paris COP21 Climate Conference Sustania Community Award in 2015.Katz completed a diploma in Hospitality Administration & Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1991 and started his own business in 1992 as founder and CEO of Nero Alarms. Earlier, Araujo worked as a business advisor to the digital agency JustDigital, and was co-founder and sales director at the digital talent agency Bandit, for a year. Before that, from 2012–2016, he was CSO and co-founder of Barcelona-based startup Nubelo – a tech recruitment agency for freelancers – until it was acquired by Freelancer.com. Prior to this, Araujo worked for two years as a business researcher at JP Morgan Chase and for almost two years at West Side Consultants, both in Argentina.
