UK-based Portuguese unicorn Farfetch is a global omni-channel marketplace for luxury fashion, ranging from established brands to cult and emerging designers. Entrepreneur José Neves started the company in 2007 to enable small designers and fashion retailers to become global players through a single online marketplace. Farfetch participated in the 2019 seed investment round for Didimo, a Portuguese 3D digital twin animation production startup based in Porto.

Geek meets chic in Farfetch founder and serial entrepreneur José Neves, who first learnt to code when he was eight years old. The economics graduate from the University of Porto launched his first business, software company Grey Matter, while in college. It was then that Neves started learning about the fashion industry, through building operating systems for footwear and textile business clients. He also designed shoes under the brand Swear, and after moving to the UK, Neves opened the brand’s physical store before moving to launch a menswear shop called B Store. He is currently CEO of Farfetch, the non-executive director at the British Fashion Council and the non-executive chairman at PLATFORME International.

Mass media empire Condé Nast was established in 1909 by Condé Montrose Nast. The company’s portfolio includes some of the most well-known titles in media: Vogue, GQ, The New Yorker and Vanity Fair. Initially print-focused, the company ventured into film, television and digital video programming with the launch of Condé Nast Entertainment in 2011.

A partner at Chinese VC firm Ceyuan Ventures, Richard Chen holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University in the United States. He is currently CEO of Yifei Investment Holding. Chen is also the founding partner of Huangpu River Capital.

European venture capital firm Advent Venture Partners was established in 1981.

Established in 2006, European private equity firm Vitruvian Partners focuses on asset-light companies in its targeted sectors. The firm has a successful track record with more than 85 transactions completed. Vitruvian Partners invests £25 million to over £150 million in companies typically valued at £50 million to over £500 million.

French investment firm Eurazeo was established in 2001 and has a portfolio of €5 billion in assets.

Based in Lisbon, Filipa Neto graduated in Economics at the Catholic University of Portugal in 2012. She co-founded her first business with college friend Lara Vidreiro at the age of 21. They went on to establish Chic by Choice in 2014 and were listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2018: Retail and E-commerce. In December 2017, Neto also started working for Farfetch as a principal innovation specialist and mentor for its accelerator program Dream Assembly.

Greycroft is a New York-based VC, established in 2006, that currently has 113 companies in its portfolio. It has interests in multiple sectors but a preference for A.I. and Big Data technologies underpinning them.  It has managed 35 exits to date including Farfetch and Huffington Post. Its recent investments include in the US$60m Series C financing round of multilingual AI-driven translation platform Unbabel and in the US$22m Series A round of Kheiron, a breast cancer-detecting health tech. 

Established in San Francisco in 1998, global VC firm now has offices and teams in the US, Brazil, Germany, China and Japan. The company invests from seed stage to later stages in sums ranging from US$500,000 to US$30m. It has invested in over 275 companies to date, as lead investor in 70, and has managed 42 exits, including Groupon and Farfetch. Recent investments include cloud-based contract management company Icertis's US$115m Series E round and workforce app Staffbase's Series C round. The VC has six investment funds, totaling US$1.1bn, including a US$125m European-dedicated fund established in June 2019.

Based in Porto, Nuno Miller joined Sonae as head of digital channels in 2015 and eventually became the chief digital and information officer at Sonae S&F in March 2018. He was CIO at Farfetch for three years until 2014 when he was named as European CIO of the year by CIONET and INSEAD.Graduating as an IT engineer in 1994, Miller initially worked as a systems engineer at DTTI for four years before joining Deloitte's as a business unit manager. He completed an executive MBA at EUDEM in 2002 and became the CIO and director of Organtex.

Born in 1965, Carmen Busquets is a Venezuelan luxury and fashion goods entrepreneur since 1992.

Founded in 1996, Index Ventures is a venture capital firm based in London, Jersey, Geneva and San Francisco. It has 35,000 employees worldwide working to manage a portfolio of 160 companies across 24 countries.
