The Chinese affiliate of top Silicon Valley venture capital firm Sequoia Capital was founded in 2005 by Neil Shen (Shen Nanpeng), a co-founder of Ctrip, China's largest travel booking site. With more than US$6 billion under management in 2015, the firm has invested in more than 300 startups in China, including some of the country's biggest brands: Alibaba, JD.com, Didi, DJI, Sina and Qihoo 360. He also spent a year studying Digital Communications and Multimedia at the University of Porto in 2012.He has worked as a designer and brand manager for INEGI Porto for over nine years until 2015. He founded his first enterprise TOP Research in 2012 that later evolved into TOPDOX. Pereira currently works for Dropbox and Xpand IT. He is also co-founder and CEO of ikuTeam, a file-sharing developer for Atlassian Marketplace.

He founded the company in 2018. Güell started his studies in Philosophy but he soon realized he was more fascinated by design and computer programming and so chose to specialize in JavaScript Fullstack and UX. Passionate about bees, he decided to start a project that would support beekeeping and address the risk of bee extinction. By combining bees with the cannabis plant, he founded The Beemine Lab, using bees to pollinate cannabis plants and cannabis pollen to sustain populated beehives.The Beemine Lab products are today sold in pharmacies, para-pharmacies and via Amazon Spain, as well as on the company’s e-commerce page.
