Founded in 2016, Paris-based Future Positive Capital invests in European startups in deep tech and biotechnology to solve major problems, with funding for only 20 portfolio startups.  It has backed eight startups to date with its most recent investments being in the April 2021 undisclosed €5.2m funding round of French renewable energytech SWEETCH Energy and in the £7.9m Series A round of British ecosystem restoration technology Dendra Systems in September 2020. 

Jörg Mohaupt is the head of media at Warner Music Group and an angel investor who has funded several startups to date, many in the area of music. His other most recently known investments were in the August 2019 £2.2m seed round of British fintech for adolescents Penfold and in the May 2019 $1.7m seed round of Swedish music sampling store Tracklib.

Albert Wenger is a managing partner at New York-based  Union Square Ventures. He is also an angel investor with disclosed investments in 25 startups, many in the area of sustainability.  His most recent investments have been in the April 2021 $6.2m seed round of Finnish carbon sequestration startup Carbon Culture and in the $9.5m Series A round of French web browser innovation company Beam. 

Founded in 2016, Wave Ventures is a student-run Nordic investor supported by VC partners, angel investors and tech founders as advisors. Based in Helsinki, the VC provides pre-seed and early-stage funding to promote startup innovations for future generations. Its current portfolio of 17 startups includes participation in the SEK 2m pre-seed round of Swedish power-bank sharing startup Brick Technology in March 2021 and seed funding of German co-working space proprietor Twostay in January 2021.

Founded in 2012 in Geneva, Seedstars is one of the world’s largest accelerators with programs operating globally including Seedstars Global Startup Competition for emerging economies and seed-stage investors. Seedstars is also an investor, focusing on supporting startups founded in emerging economies across market segments. Its portfolio of 60 companies includes startups from its accelerator programs and participation in the $30,000 pre-seed round for Mexican loan fintech DB Menos. It is also one of two impact investors backing the $530,000 seed funding round for Bangladeshi cloud-kitchen and delivery startup Kludio.

M Capital Partners is a leading private equity firm in the French small-cap market. It specializes in SME financing in the development and transmission phases. Based in Paris, the company has offices in Toulouse, Nice, Montepellier and Bordeaux. Founded 17 years ago, M Capital has €530m under active management. It is engaged in venture and capital investments, real estate, and impact investing. Recently it declared its aim to obtain the B Corp sustainability label, and created a foundation and several positive impact funds and moved to decarbonize its portfolio. 

Mohit Goel is one of India’s youngest real estate tycoons and an angel investor. He appeared as one of a panel of potential investors on the India reality TV show The Vault,  which features start-ups pitching their business ideas to angel investors in order to seek funding. Goel is CEO of Omaxe, a real estate firm based in New Delhi. As the second-generation head of the company, he was credited for structural changes aimed at turning the firm around amidst challenging market conditions and introducing fresh concepts and customer-centric ideas to strengthen the business. Goel is also the north zone head of CREDAI Youth Wing, an industry body bringing together the next generation of leaders in India’s real estate and property developer market. In 2014, he was named Young Male Entrepreneur of the Year at the Infra & Realty Sutra Awards and also received the Young Achiever’s Award at ABP News’ Real Estate Awards.

Not-for-profit social impact investor, Rabo Foundation, is a subsidiary of Rabobank based in the Netherlands. The bank specializes in sustainability-oriented banking, food and agriculture financing.Founded in Utrecht in 1974, Rabo Foundation actively invests in the Netherlands and 22 emerging markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America. It mainly focuses on funding for social enterprises, especially savings and credit cooperatives and producer organizations for smallholder farmers. It currently has investments in 26 startups including participation in AgroCenta’s $790,000 seed round in January 2021. Rabo has also pumped in $500,000 in Dutch fintech Geldfit.nl, a debt prevention and counseling app service.

Russian-born Sergey Brin is the co-founder of Google and was the president of Google's parent company, Alphabet Inc, until stepping down in 2019. Brin is the world's ninth-richest person with a personal fortune of $86.5bn. His investments include OccamzRazor in 2019, a machine learning medtech platform supporting research into Parkinson’s Disease. Owen van Natta was formerly COO of Facebook and CEO of MySpace, and also previously held senior positions in Amazon and Zynga. He is an angel investor, founder of 415 LLC as well as a founding partner of tech-focused VC firm Prefix Capital, and has invested in a number of startups to date. His disclosed investments include participation in the March 2017 $800,000 seed round of Irish water regulatory platform SwiftComply and the November 2015 undisclosed funding round of US-based unicorn Diamond Foundry, the first certified carbon-neutral lab-produced diamond manufacturer. No pic on SM

Khosla Ventures is a Silicon Valley-based VC, founded in 2004 by Indian-born founder of tech pioneer Sun Microsystems Vinod Khosla. The company has no specific interest in terms of sector but heavily favors “large problems that are amenable to technology solutions” and invests in so-called high potential  'black swans´. Healthcare is a strong focus and its most recent investments include in the Portuguese home physiotherapy tech solution SWORD Health's 2021 $85m Series C and $25m Series B rounds besides its 2020 $17m Series A round which it led. Khosla has over $5bn under management and more than 70 staff, with investments in more than 700 startups, leading more than one-third. Other recent investments include in the July 2021 $75m Series C round of Indian personal health and fitness app HealthifyMe and, the same month, in the $12.5m Series A round of US commercial real estate app for tenants and property managers Jones. 

The British F1 racing driver and five-time FIA Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton has started to promote veganism and sustainable lifestyles, investing in several technology startups that develop solutions in that field.In 2019 he launched  Neat Meat, the British vegan fast casual chain, in collaboration with The Cream Group, UNICEF Ambassadors and early investor in Beyond Meat Tommaso Chiabra. More recently he participated in a Series D funding round backing NotCo, the first Chilean unicorn selling plant-based food and beverage products across Latin America and the US.Hamilton is actively fighting to promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices across industries. In 2019 he also pushed Mercedes-Benz to discuss the possibility of including animal-free interiors in their cars. On that he said: I want to be part of a system that is going to help heal the world and do something positive for the future.”

Roger Federer, the Swiss 20-times Grand Slam tennis champion, has turned into an angel investor while planning his professional life beyond and after his tennis sports career.In 2019, he invested in On, the Swiss running shoe manufacturer for an undisclosed funding amount. Federer currently has no formal role in the company but he’s actively involved in its R&D and product development. “I feel like I can give input on any of the lines, the shoes, anything moving forward. I can give my opinion on anything and On can either take it or leave it. I feel like [with] a major brand like Nike, that's literally impossible. It just wouldn't work,” he has said.More recently, Federer participated in a Series D funding round backing the first Chilean unicorn NotCo, which sells plant-based food and beverage products across Latin America and the US. 

London-based Sustainability Ventures is one of the UK’s leading early-stage investors in Cleantech. It comprises a group of successful entrepreneurs with a track record in building and investing in high-growth start-ups. It has created Europe’s largest ecosystem for cleantech and sustainability startups, as a business founder and investor, provider of accelerator and support services and provider of shared workspaces. Active since 2011, Sustainability Ventures has raised £250m in total equity funds to date. Its focus is on agritech and food, building technology, circular economy, future energy and mobility. It has established 10 companies, invested in 30 and supported the development of over 250 more enterprises as of 2021 and aims to develop 1,000 sustainable startups by 2025.  

H&M Foundation is a non-profit foundation established in 2013. It is privately funded by the Stefan Persson family, the founders and major shareholders of the H&M Group, who have donated SEK 1.5 billion to it to date. The foundation aims to help accelerate progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, by developing, funding and sharing solutions to address the world’s most urgent issues. It has a particular focus on promoting a planet-positive fashion industry and on building inclusive societies.Tackling mostly challenges associated with the fast fashion industry and its supply chain, H&M Foundation advocates for more sustainable practices across the fashion value chain and more inclusive business practices. The foundation is also actively involved in providing emergency relief for natural disasters or pandemics. It also aims to encourage innovation that promotes social change and sustainability. To this end, it provides startups support in accelerating and scale new technologies. It also runs the Global Change Award. Dubbed the Nobel Prize of fashion, this aims to recognise disruptive innovations that have the potential to make fashion more sustainable, and transform the way garments are designed, produced, shipped, bought, used and recycled.
