While studying for her master's at UESTC in 2016, she founded a robotics startup. Huang and her team developed a badminton robot that played against Premier Li Keqiang and also won the Best Innovative Robotic Technology Award at the 2016 World Robotics Conference. In 2017, she was nominated for University Student of the Year by China Campus magazine.
