Set up in 2002 by Patrice Hoppenot 15 years after he founded European investment fund BC Partners, Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) is an impact investor seeking to help SMEs prosper in Africa and create sustainable jobs and income there. With about €210m raised to date, I&P finances SMEs, startups and regional investment funds in Africa through equity participation and loans, as well as through microfinance institutions. Its I&P Acceleration Technologies focuses on digital startups with €2.5m of funding to be invested in 10–15 startups in 2020–2023. To date, I&P has supported more than 100 capital-funded companies and 20 companies benefiting from subsidized acceleration programs. I&P has about 100 staff based in Paris, Washington D.C. and in seven African offices (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Madagascar, Niger and Senegal).

Chief Scientist and Co-founder of AISpeech
After receiving his master’s in Automation from Tsinghua University in 2002, Yu joined the Machine Intelligence Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained his doctorate in Engineering in 2006. Yu was a co-founder of VocallQ, a UK-based voice technology startup. Apple acquired the firm in 2015. Yu returned to China in 2008. In 2012, he set up the SpeechLab, which specializes in intelligent speech recognition technology R&D, at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a professor at SJTU.

Co-founder and CEO of Astronaut Technologies
After six years of building innovative products and new businesses in Singapore and India, Nigel Hembrow has made Indonesia his home and headquarters for Astronaut Technologies, his latest venture in HR tech. Hailing from Australia, Queensland civil engineer Nigel started out in project management and engineering design for construction company Mace. After an MBA from the University of Melbourne in 2009, he worked at The Great Little Water Company and Amida Recruitment. Nigel is also currently a director at Rayjon Group, a family-owned property investment and development conglomerate that was co-founded by managing director John Hembrow in 1976.

Enrique Alcázar Garzas holds a double bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Business Administration from Carlos III University in Madrid. Keenan Wyrobek is a graduate from Stanford University and Johns Hopkins University specializing in medical product design and robotics. He has developed several patents for medical robotics and other high-tech products.He also co-founded the Personal Robotics Program at Willow Garage, where he was involved in launching the Robot Operating System (ROS) and the first personal robot for software application development. In 2014, Wyrobek co-founded Zipline International and became head of product and engineering at the Silicon Valley-based company that makes drones for delivering critical medical supplies to remote parts of the world.

Pablo Marfil Serrano graduated in industrial design engineering and product development at Nebrija University in Madrid in 2014. He has worked in industrial design, product development and branding for Madrid-based companies, including AECOM and Steelcase.In 2010, he became a member of the competitive Mini racing team Nebrija Motorsport. In 2012, Marfil founded his own agency Marfil Design & Consulting. He also co-founded Scoobic Urban Mobility in 2015 and became the Spanish mobility startup's CTO and business development manager. He is also a founding member and partner of Passion Motorbike Factory.

The law graduate is also reading a PhD in Law at his alma mater. Danny has worked as a product manager at Baidu and as a financial analyst for Lenovo, before joining games developer Wozlla as VP of Sales and Marketing in 2014. In October 2016, he joined Wozlla’s co-founder Zac Cheah to establish Pundi-Pundi. He is currently the CFO of Pundi X, a cryptocurrency spin-off of Pundi-Pundi.

After returning to China in 2007, Li became head of R&D on cryogenics at Shanxi Energy Industries Group Co., Ltd. From November 2009 until early 2015, he served as a lecturer at Shanxi University of Finance and Economics. In February 2015, Li founded Sennotech in Shenzhen.

This included delivering multimillion-dollar biometric and big data projects in the run-up to 50 presidential elections in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, the Congo and Benin. Carlier is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and holds an MSc in Business Administration from the Burgundy School of Business.
