Launched in 2003, Dianping is China's most popular restaurant-reviewing and group-buying service. It merged with closest rival Meituan in October 2015, in a US$15 billion deal.

Choe had worked for Yahoo! and also was the COO of the public-listed holding company of South Korean search and media company NHN.

Goldman Sachs is one of the biggest investment banking and financial services group in the world. The firm went public in 1999 under the ticker NYSE:GS. To date, Goldman Sachs has raised seven funds, their latest in May 2019 for a total of $4.4bn. Based in New York, the private banking group has made 788 investments with 256 exits. Investments include tech unicorns such as Spotify, Square, Zipline, Xiaomi and the Alibaba Group.Its 2019 annual report showed that Goldman Sachs generated over $36.55 bn in net revenues, with 10% ROE and 10.6% ROTE. As of mid-July 2020, the firm has a market capitalization of $74.33 bn. Goldman Sachs has offices in over 30 countries with major operations in four sectors: investment banking, global markets, asset management and consumer & wealth management.

JJ VC is a joint initiative by JJ.cn and a group of investors specialized in TMT investment. JJ.cn is a leading developer and operator in online board and card games.

Founded in 2015 by Beijing News, Beijing Culture Investment Development Group, among other funds, the Born For Maker program was renamed Shanshui Investment in April 2018 by Chairman of the Board Dai Zigeng, former publisher of Beijing News and CEO of Beijing Culture Investment Development Group. Wang Yuechun, former editor-in-chief of Beijing News, was named founder of Shanshui Investment. Born For Maker, an incubator program, holds an annual startup competition. In 2016, the program set up an investment fund.

Chaired by former Time Warner CEO Jerry Levin, the platform is reputed to have the world’s largest portfolio of digital health companies spanning 12 countries. BDMI is a New York-based VC company that is part of the global media group, Bertelsmann, which backs mainly companies in the new digital media ecosystem. The company usually invests through Series A and Series B rounds ranging from US$500,000 to US$5 million with reserves for follow-ons.Companies backed by BDMI get access to a vast network of media companies in the Bertelsmann group and benefit from their extensive media expertise with a global perspective.The firm’s portfolio includes startups from North America, Europe and Israel.

An active and well-known angel investor in Spain and the US, Iñaki Berenguer was also co-founder and CEO at Klink (acquired by Thinkingphones) and Pixable (acquired by SingTel). He previously worked for MNCs like Hewlett Packard, STMicroelectronics, Pentium group of Intel and NEC Laboratories America. He spent two years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and as a manager in the Corporate Strategy Group of Microsoft.Originally from Valencia, but now based in New York, Berenguer is currently co-founder and CEO of Coverwallet.

Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund was launched at the closing ceremony of the 2019 World Artificial Intelligence conference. It was co-led by state-owned enterprises such as Guosheng Group and Lingang Group, and backed by local governments, state-owned industrial groups, and financing firms. The fund was initially be valued at RMB 10bn, with plans to increase this figure to RMB 100bn. It operates through direct investment and sub-funds.It mainly invests in early-stage tech companies as well as leading players that apply AI technologies in various verticals. 

Former senior teacher and executive at New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc., the largest provider of private educational services in China. He singlehandedly founded its office in Changchun. Described by Xiaomi CEO and founder Lei Jun as “a founder without flaws”.

Shannon Kalayanamitr is an entrepreneur with 17 years of international business experience. In 2012, she founded a women’s e-commerce site Moxy. When Moxy was acquired by WhatsNew Group in 2014, she became the group’s CMO. She remained as CMO after Moxy merged with Bilna to form Orami in 2016.The graduate in Business Administration, from Thammasat University in Thailand, was featured in the 2016 Campaign Asia’s 40 Under 40 list of high achieving individuals in the marketing industry. She has also worked at PwC, Lehman Brothers and Boonrawd Trading International, the global distributor of Singha Beer.

International relations graduate, John Patrick Ellis worked in East Indonesia for two years with ViA-Volunteers Asia in 2005. He has picked up some Manggarai dialect along the way and also speaks Indonesian.  In 2011, John created Harpoon Mobile, a maptech software that was later sold to a North American online marketing company in 2013. He went on to co-found C88 Financial Technologies Pte Ltd in Singapore  that acquired CekAja and Otobro in Indonesia. John became the Group CEO of C88. The group’s other co-founder and chairman Karl Knoflach is based in the Philippines.

Patrick Williamson was the co-founder, CEO and director of Otobro Media Pte Ltd.  The car dealership platform Otobro was sold to the C88 Group in March 2017. He is now an executive at SEA Online & TMT, an online media company in Singapore.A graduate in Applied Science Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada, Patrick also pursued a master’s in International Business at INSEAD in 2002. He has worked in Singapore at Yahoo! Southeast Asia and also at Unity Technologies. In 2013, he was in Jakarta with PT Kreatif Media Karya before founding Otobro in 2015.

Mathew F Jones joined Otobro Pte Ltd in 2016 as co-founder and COO. Otobro was acquired by the C88 Group in March 2017. Mathew is also the commissioner  of PT Superior Coach, a representative office in Jakarta. Mathew has worked in Indonesia for over 11 years. He joined PT Selaras Nusa Abadi as general manager in 2003 and became the managing director and Dealer Council chairman of the company from 2005 until 2015.  He has a bachelor’s in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from the University of California Berkeley, USA.
