European venture capital firm Advent Venture Partners was established in 1981.

London-based financial services company Octopus Investments was founded in 2000. Since then, the firm has grown to a 500-strong company that manages £6 billion on behalf of more than 50,000 investors. It is part of Octopus Group. The VC firm has offices in New York, Singapore and Shanghai, besides London and has invested in 200 companies to date, almost half of them as the lead investor.  It has seen 27 exits among its portfolio companies, including acquisitions by Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, with notable divested companies including Graze, Adbrain, SwiftKey and Zoopla.

Veteran Portuguese investor Diamantino Costa, aka Dino, is the founder and managing partner of DCVentures and Ganexa Capital. He is also the chairman and CEO of Intelligent Sensing Anywhere (ISA), an IoT firm in energy, oil and gas. He is a former chairman of the Portuguese Aerospace Industry Association (PEMAS).Costa has a master’s in Computer Science from the University of Coimbra. He co-founded and exited Critical Software, one of Portugal’s first startups. The business application development company has its roots at the University of Coimbra and secured NASA as its first client.

Haitong Kaiyuan Investment is the wholly owned private equity investment firm by Haiting Securities in 2008. It focuses on new energy, new material, biotechnology, IT, communication and advanced manufacturing sectors.

Founded in 1999, Huaxin Century is an investment firm specializing in real estate development and project management.

New Ventures has over the past decade focused on growing and catalyzing social and environmental entrepreneurs. They build an ecosystem through financing, acceleration, and promotion. In doing so, they pave the way for enterprises that are not only profitable but have a positive impact on social and environmental issues.

Mustard Seed MAZE is a Lisbon-based VC firm that invests in early-stage startups, primarily in social impact enterprises. Endowed with €40m, the VC has invested in projects dealing with food wastage, human trafficking, postnatal depression and general healthcare.So far, it has managed one exit, with the majority of its portfolio of 20 companies based in Europe. Recent investment rounds include $3m seed funding for Portuguese mesh network tech HypeLabs, €1.15m seed round for Spanish fintech StudentFinance and $12m Series B round for UK-based food waste app Winnow.

Established in 2011, PE firm Sharelink Capital manages assets of more than RMB 1.5 billion and has invested in nearly 40 enterprises.It focuses on early-stage and mid-stage investments. Its investors include the National Science and Technology Department, large state-owned enterprises, local governments, listed companies, private enterprises and high net worth individuals.

Yifuze Investment was founded in 2010 by renowned trader and investor Lin Guangmao. Lin made his name trading cotton futures that year, turning RMB 30,000 worth of contracts into a RMB 2 billion fortune.

Creadev was created in 2002 in France as the private equity arm of the Mulliez family. Creadev expanded to Shanghai in 2012, through a unit called Crehol China. It has since been renamed Creadev China.  

Founded in 2004 by one of China’s best-known venture capitalists Cao Guoxiong (Tony Cao), Puhua Capital currently has RMB 1 billion under management. It has invested about 300 startups, including 40+ that have gone public.

Founded in 2007 under the Chinese Fortune 500 company DunAn Group, the investment group manages total fund of RMB 6 billion today, with successful investment in 77 Chinese startups across multiple sectors including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, energy & cleantech, etc. It was nominated for “Top 10 Zhengjiang Investment Group” for seven years in a row and was awarded for “Chinese VC of Best Potential” in 2016 – 2017 by thecapital.com.cn.  

Founded in 2016, SDICVC is a fund management company under State Development & Investment Corp, dedicating itself to promoting the industrialization of advanced technology and innovation in China, with key focus in Clean Technology, New Energy, Advanced Biotechnology, Advanced IT & Electronic Science. SDICVC currently manages 3 major funds, namely, National Science and Technology Major Project Fund, JingJinJi (Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei) Special Fund and High-Tech (Shenzhen) Startup Fund, backing up 30 Chinese startups in the related fields.  

Founded in 1972, Kleiner Perkins, formerly Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) is one of the world’s largest venture capital firms.The firm has raised $10bn through 20 venture funds and four growth funds and has invested in over 850 companies worldwide. Its China advisory team was founded in 2007 with a fund of $360m. It has invested in many of China’s star enterprises, including one of the country’s largest e-commerce platform JD.com.  

Founded in Shenzhen in 1993, Grandland Holdings comprises four companies - Grandland Group, Grandland Property, Grandland Capital, and Grandland Investment. It operates in the sectors of decoration, real estate, high-tech and finance. Grandland Holdings has total assets of RMB 30 billion, which are invested in more than 30 listed companies. It acquired the Permasteelisa Group, a leading Italian curtain wall corporation, for RMB 3.66 billion in 2017.
