Established in 2002, Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed NWS Holdings’ main businesses are in infrastructure and service. Its main shareholder is New World Development. Henry Cheng currently serves as chairman and executive director of NWS Holdings. Formerly known as hoopCHINA.com, the Hupu website garnered one million daily active users by 2006. In 2018, he raised seed funding to pivot Hupu's Poizon app into an independent trading platform for limited edition sneakers, designer sportswear and accessories.

Formerly known as hoopCHINA.com, Hupu is a sports news portal founded by Yang Bing and Cheng Hang at the end of 2003. Its business has expanded to include social networking, e-commerce and sports marketing. In June 2019, Hupu raised RMB1.26 billion in its pre-IPO funding round from ByteDance, TikTok's parent company. Hupu has incubated e-marketplace for trending sports gears Shihuo and sneakers resale platform Poizon. The latter became an independent business as a spin-off from Hupu in 2018. Poizon became a unicorn when its valuation exceeded US$1 billion in April 2019 due to a Series A funding round led by DST Global. 

One of the earliest and independent VC firms in China, Chengwei Capital was founded in Shanghai in 1999. It’s also the first and only evergreen fund in China.With Yale University Endowment as its largest investor, the VC limited partners also include institutional investors from around the world. With a portfolio of about 30 companies, the firm mainly invests in manufacturing, consumer goods, education, internet and petroleum & natural gas.In 2012, Chengwei and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) jointly launched the $100m CEIBS-Chengwei Venture Capital Fund to invest in early- and growth-stage companies founded or managed by CEIBS alumni.
