Founded in 2015, Initial Capital focuses on early-stage investment in internet startups. It has backed 20+ projects, investing RMB 1 million–8 million in each of them.

Founded in 2000, Shan Xiangshuang's private equity outfit China Science & Merchants Investment Management Group (CSC) has about US$10 billion under management. It has an extensive network in China and built relationships with more than 1,000 LPs. Dubbed "China's Schwarzman," Shan set up CSC with RMB 600,000. The company went public on China's New Third Board (NEEQ) in 2015, where it raised almost US$2 billion.

Previously known as Incubate Capital Partners, Incubate Fund was founded in 1999 by Tohru Akaura and partners. Focusing on providing early stage funding, its portfolio includes more than 120 companies. It also hosts Incubate Camp, a seed-stage startup acceleration program.

The venture capital arm of Cisco was established in 1993 in San Francisco and currently has a US$2bn active portfolio. Each year, it invests between US$200-300m from Series A rounds to later investment stages. Cisco Investments has more than 120 companies in its portfolio. It has managed multiple exits and acquisitions, most recently by purchasing customer analytics technology CloudCherry for an undisclosed sum in August 2019. Cisco Investment's recent portfolio investments include healthcare platform Luma Health's US$16m Series B round and big data cybersecurity startup Exabeam's US$75m Series E round.

Cane Investments is a private investment firm based in Irvington, New York, that specializes in early-stage investments in the media and communications sectors. It has nine companies in its portfolio. The firm most recently invested in autonomous and connected vehicle communication technology Veniam's US$22m Series B round in 2016. Other portfolio companies include wireless power startup uBeam and HR software company GetHired.com.

London-based financial services company Octopus Investments was founded in 2000. Since then, the firm has grown to a 500-strong company that manages £6 billion on behalf of more than 50,000 investors. It is part of Octopus Group. The VC firm has offices in New York, Singapore and Shanghai, besides London and has invested in 200 companies to date, almost half of them as the lead investor.  It has seen 27 exits among its portfolio companies, including acquisitions by Microsoft, Amazon, and Google, with notable divested companies including Graze, Adbrain, SwiftKey and Zoopla.

DG Incubation was founded in 2009 as the investment arm of Japanese internet company Digital Garage Group. The firm invests through its Open Network Lab Seed Accelerator Program for its seed-stage portfolio, and through DG Incubation for its early-to-late stage portfolio. DG Incubation gives foundation support to early-stage startups, such as problem identification. For later-stage startups, the firm gives data and analysis and supports the recruitment process, among others. It has offices in Tokyo, Kamakura (Japan) and San Francisco. It has invested in 98 companies to date and has seen 23 exits including companies like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. 

Portuguese state investment company PME Investimentos is the country's most prolific tech investor. Founded in 1989 as a joint stock company, SULPEDIP was under the supervision of the Bank of Portugal and changed its name to PME in 1998. The main aim is to help local SMEs to access funding and financial management services to develop and expand internationally. PME has invested in hundreds of startups, both tech and non-tech focused, across market verticals. It also manages several funds, including 200M that was launched in 2016 to focus on investments in Portugal-based startups. The co-investment fund of €200m prioritizes startups based in the Northern, Central, Alentejo, Lisbon and Algarve regions. The fund matches up to 100% of the private investors’ commitment, subject to a minimum investment of €500,000 and a maximum of €5m. Recent investments include petfood e-commerce Barkyn's €1.1m seed round, €4.2m Series A of made-to-order designer Platforme and a €650,000 contribution in the second phase of healthy food service EatTasty's €1.75m seed round. 

Indogen Capital is Indonesia’s latest VC founded in early 2017. The private fund looks for founder “athletes and shapes them into champions”, with capital injections of US$100,000 to US$500,000.VC advisor and Tokopedia co-founder, Leonitus Alpha Edison is passionate about mentoring startups on how to negotiate founder-friendly deals.The other VC partners are: Hendry Willy (Leon’s friend and founder of TokoUSB.com), private equity veteran Teezar Firmansyah, Nararya Ciputra Sastrawinata of business tycoon family in real estate and Ciputra University. Indogen’s CEO Chandra Firmanto is Leon’s childhood friend whose family business had joint ventures with Ciputra. 

Founded in 2011, Unitus Impact is a venture capital firm focusing on impact investments in Southeast Asia and India. With offices in Bangalore, Ho Chi Minh city and San Francisco, the VC will soon be renamed as Patamar Capital. It currently invests in scalable businesses that aim to improve the livelihoods of the poor in Asia.

Haitong Kaiyuan Investment is the wholly owned private equity investment firm by Haiting Securities in 2008. It focuses on new energy, new material, biotechnology, IT, communication and advanced manufacturing sectors.

One of the earliest VC/PE firms in China, Shenzhen GTJA Investment focuses on the healthcare/biotech industry. It manages about RMB 10 billion and has invested in more than 100 companies since its inception in 2001.

IDG-Accel is a joint venture between tech media company IDG and Accel Partners, focusing on early-stage, late-stage and pre-IPO investments.

Part of the larger Sonae Group of companies, Sonae IM was launched in 2015 and is the corporate venture arm for tech-based investments. Since their launch, they have backed various companies particularly in the retail technology sector. These include StyleSage (fashion tech in predictive analytics) and InovRetail (demand forecasting for retailers).

Plug and Play Tech Center is a startup accelerator and venture fund based in Silicon Valley, USA. It invests in over 100 startups every year, from pre-product to Series A, including Dropbox and Lending Club.The VC launched its first accelerator program in Indonesia in February 2017, in partnership with Indonesia’s Gan Kapital. Since then, the program has provided mentorship and US$50,000 funding to each of the 11 startups selected from the ASEAN region including Astronaut Technologies. Other corporate partners include Astra International, BNI, Bank BTN and Sinar Mas.
