SyndicateRoom is a Cambridge-based VC authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), founded in 2013 by Gonçalo de Vasconcelos and Tom Britton, after studying together at the University of Cambridge. The company was initially started as an equity crowdfunding platform allowing its members to co-invest with experienced angel investors and high-net-worth individuals. Each investor is offered the same investment opportunities as lead investors, with the same share class and price per share.In July 2019, Gonçalo de Vasconcelos stepped down as CEO and was replaced by Graham Schwikkard. Soon afterward, the company announced a pivot of its investment model, becoming a VC fund that no longer offers individual crowdfunding investment opportunities. In the same year, SyndicateRoom launched Access EIS, the first data-driven Enterprise Investment Scheme fund.

IGF is a crowdfunding platform for impact investing in Asia. It aims to partner with innovative, high-impact enterprises in need of capital to scale their businesses and, as a result, be of value to society and the environment. The fund seeks to mobilize its US$50m in investment capital to deliver affordable healthcare, cut CO2 emissions, help more than 2m people gain access to clean energy and empower women. IGF's investments range in size from US$250,000 to US$5m, and primarily take the form of equity or quasi-equity. All its investments include pre-agreed social or environmental impact targets.

Reza Avesena is an experienced software engineer who took the leap into entrepreneurship when he came to Yogyakarta and joined a photobook printing company. In 2009, after graduating from Universitas Bina Nusantara with a bachelor's in informatics, he started his career as an analyst in Telkomsigma, a subsidiary of state-owned communications firm Telkom. In 2011, he joined Wincor Nixdorf as a software engineer. Between 2013 and 2016, he worked for IBM as an advisory specialist. In 2017, he became the CTO of ID Photobook, a Yogyakarta-based company that provided photo printing services. In 2018, together with ID Photobook founder Afrig Wasiso and entrepreneur Mardigu Wowiek Prasetyo, Avesena established a new business: equity crowdfunding platform Santara and is now its CEO.

Founded in 2011 in Leipzig, Monkfish Equity offers a hands-off investment approach, providing funding of €0.5m–€2m to enterprises across market segments in Germany, other European countries and the US.The firm is run by the co-founders of travel and hotel platform Trivago. Monkfish’s portfolio of 12 companies mainly comprises businesses in the B2C markets. Investments include the $54m Series B round of Austrian marketplace Refurbed in August 2021 and the €8m Series A round of Inne, a German fertility-tracking platform in October 2019.

Danish asset management company Maj Invest was established in 2005. Based in Copenhagen, it is owned by the management, employees and Danish institutional investors, PKA, Realdania and PBU. Its main businesses are in asset management and private equity. It recently ventured into the financial services sector with Maj Bank.In 2009, Maj Invest launched into international private equity activities, with offices in Singapore, Indonesia’s Jakarta,Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and Lima in Peru. Its Maj Invest Equity Southeast Asia II K/S, worth US$90 million, is still looking for new investment opportunities in the region. 

Global Basket Mulia Investama (GBMI) was established in 2015 in Indonesia with a focus on young entrepreneurs. In 2018, they invested IDR10bn in crowdfunding website Kolase.

Mardigu Wowiek Prasantyo is a serial entrepreneur who has over 30 years of experience in various oil and gas businesses and other enterprises. Prasantyo is the founder of oil and gas services companies Titis Sampurna and Laksel EPS, which have been part of various energy projects in Indonesia. He claims to be the only civilian to have worked as special advisor for Indonesia's Ministry of Defense. Armed with a degree in criminal psychology, he has said he has taken part in interrogations and has provided opinions on terrorist movements. Prior to becoming involved with equity crowdfunding platform, Santara, he also started a gold-backed cryptocurrency called Cyronium, which purportedly supports SMEs through blockchain-based investments.

Shansheng Equity Investment Fund was launched in September 2020 with Beijing Huayao Zhongwei Investment Management as its manager.

Zhongjia Yitai Private Equity Partners was founded in 2016 and funded by Mingtai Capital.

With currently over $21bn of AUM, Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA) was started in Hong Kong in 1997 by Jean Eric Salata, as the regional Asian PE investment arm of UK-based Baring Private Equity Partners. With $300m in its first fund, it focused on riding China’s economic rise spurred by the country’s market liberalization. In 2000, Salata led a management buyout of BPEA and continues to head the firm today as CEO and Founding Partner. BPEA has invested in more than 100 companies, across healthcare, logistics, IT services, media, education, financial services and retail. It is one of the largest independent PE firms in Asia and has eight offices across the continent.With offices in China, India, Japan, Australia, and Singapore, it currently has around 43 portfolio companies, almost all Asia-based, across multiple business segments in tech and non-tech startups, especially in bricks-and-mortar education establishments. It also makes acquisitions, including most recently of US outsourcing services company Virtusa in February 2021.Other recent investments include in the June 2021 $85m Series C round of Portuguese home physiotherapy tech solution SWORD Health, the world’s fastest-growing musculoskeletal solution, and in the November 2020 $198m Series D round of Chinese computer coding for kids edtech Codemao. 

Ashraf Sinclair is a Malaysian-born actor and businessman. He moved and worked in Indonesia after marrying Indonesian singer Bunga Citra Lestari. He has also personally invested in crowdfunding platform Konserku in 2016 and became a venture partner at 500 Startups in 2017.

A private equity arm of China state-backed conglomerate Citic Group Corp., CITICPE is one of the largest PE investors in China, with RMB 9 billion under management.

Tipping Point Capital was established by Huang Shengli, former managing director of China Renaissance and founder of Modian.com, a crowdfunding website for gaming projects. The core team has over 40 years of experience in the internet industry, investment banking and M&As.

Ventek Ventures is a venture capital firm based in Los Angeles, USA. It focuses on tech investments, particularly in USA, China and Southeast Asia. Seekmi, its first foray in Southeast Asia, joins Ventek’s existing stable of East Asian investments including coding for kids codeSpark, crowdfunding academy ganfund, restaurant cloud services provider Foodomo and mobile creative suite Kdan.  

Through crowdfunding, Chinese insurtech firm Waterdrop makes treatment for critical diseases accessible to the majority of China's population who have no commercial health insurance.
