Inra Sumahamijaya was initially trained in chemical engineering, having graduated from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember with a bachelor's in the field. He has worked for state-owned minerals company Antam and other companies in the oil and gas industry, including Total. Samaipata Ventures is an early stage venture capital fund founded by Jose del Barrio, a Spanish entrepreneur who succeeded in the e-commerce food delivery business Nevera Roja. The VC invests in European companies involved in e-commerce and marketplaces, especially in Southern Europe. As entrepreneurs themselves, the partners aim to increase cooperation between SMEs and venture capitalists.

Founded in 1986 by global industrialist and philanthropist Len Blavatnik, Access Industries is a privately held industrial group with long-term holdings worldwide. It is headquartered in New York City with additional offices in London and Moscow. Proxima Ventures was founded in 2016 in Shanghai. It manages both RMB and US dollar funds, worth around US$150m in total. The firm invests mainly in early-stage startups in the healthcare sector. It has invested in 18 companies and established six innovation centers to incubate medtech startups. 

UK-based Portuguese unicorn Farfetch is a global omni-channel marketplace for luxury fashion, ranging from established brands to cult and emerging designers. Entrepreneur José Neves started the company in 2007 to enable small designers and fashion retailers to become global players through a single online marketplace. Farfetch participated in the 2019 seed investment round for Didimo, a Portuguese 3D digital twin animation production startup based in Porto.

A former senior executive at Standard Chartered Bank and HP, Wang Huawei went on to set up his own business in internet investment/wealth management information services, Weitouhuirong (Beijing) Network Technology; and subsequently, P2P financing-social networking app Pengyoufan.

E-commerce specialist Orlando Lopes held various positions at women’s accessories brand Parfois, before joining marketing and advertising agency BySide as an account manager. At BySide, he met Rui Costa, and the two eventually co-founded food delivery startup EatTasty.

A graduate in ICT engineering and business management from La Salle College, Guillem Batalla Puignou has worked as a professor at his alma mater for two years until 2016.Based in Barcelona, he works as a product manager at Watchity, a platform for video production, editing and online channels distribution. He is also the product manager and UX/UI designer at Sound Market, a mobile marketplace for musicians that he co-founded in 2018.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, Qianran Investment was founded in December 2014. It invests mainly in artificial intelligence, entertainment and art sectors.

Founded in Chicago in 2011, Hyde Park invests in Midwestern US and occasionally Canadian startups from early-stage usually through two investment rounds across tech sectors.  It currently has 62 startups in its portfolio and has managed 12 exits to date. Its most recent investments in January 2021 include Canadian e-commerce site BlackCart’s $8.8m Series A round and US podcast database Podchaser’s $5.7m Series A round. In November 2020, it invested in real estate productivity software NestEgg’s $7m Series A round. 

Mercy Corps’ Social Venture Fund is a seed and early-stage social impact fund operated by not-for-profit humanitarian organization Mercy Corps. The US-based organization is increasingly moving into tech investments, with key interests in agtech and fintech solutions creating social impact. FinX, a platform designed to accelerate financial inclusion worldwide, was also launched recently. Distributed ledgers, digital assets, cryptocurrencies and other digital financial solutions will be deployed to alleviate poverty in local communities. The fund has invested in 16 companies at the seed stage. Investments in the February 2021 included a pre-seed round for Kenyan healthcare fintech platform ImaliPay. In December 2020, it joined a $5.3m seed round for Colombian remittance tech Valiu.

Adrian Cheng Chi-kong  is a third generation heir to HK billionaire Cheng Yu-tung.Adrian Cheng Chi-kong founded K11 brand in 2008, and became Executive Vice-Chairman at New World Development in 2015.Besides traditional retail, he invests in more areas such as food, fashion, technology.He founded C Ventures to invest in the businesses that focus on millennials. C Ventures has invested in Moda Operandi, an American fashion startup, Flont, luxury jewelry rental service, among others.He invested in American AI startup ObEN and Chinese cooking video platform Daydaycook, etc, through K11.He also invested in Aibee, Hua Medicine and Xiaohongshu as individual investor.

Founded in 1980, Western Technology Investment invests in tech and life science startups. To date, it has invested over $6bn in 1,300 companies worldwide across diverse market segments.The Silicon Valley-based WTI currently has more than 500 companies in its global portfolio. Recent investments include US anti-aging medtech Elevio’s $15m funding in November 2020 and the $4.3m seed round in August 2020 for US fintech for teens Copper Banking.
