CEO and co-founder of Beyond Leather Materials / Leap
German native Mikael Eydt graduated in economics in 2016 at Erlangen-Nürnberg’s Friedrich-Alexander University. He worked at his family’s hotel company in Germany while studying at university from 2011 to 2016. Eydt also briefly worked in sales for insurance company Debeka and completed his national service as a soldier in Germany. In 2017, Eydt went back to work as a junior manager at family-owned Hotel Eydt in Kirchheim.Currently based in Copenhagen, he is now the CEO and co-founder of Danish alt-leather biotech, Beyond Leather Materials, that produces vegan leather materials from apple waste. He was responsible for the startup’s business development for two years before becoming CEO in July 2020.

Dutch-born Rosa Goslinga has spent most of her career working in Africa and speaks five languages, including Swahili. She graduated in business, economics and international development at the University of Amsterdam in 2004. She also completed a master’s in political economy of development at the School for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London in 2005.In 2006, she worked as an economist at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources in Rwanda where she realized there was an urgent need for small-scale farming insurance to protect the local farmers’ livelihoods against natural hazards.In 2008, she joined Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) in Kenya, where she initiated a pilot Kilimo Salama in Nairobi as program director. The program was a success, starting with 185 farmers taking up index insurance and growing to be the largest in Africa with over 185,000 participants. Goslinga also met and started working with Thomas Njeru, the lead actuary for UAP Insurance for the Kilimo project.In 2013, with investors backing her project, she developed and patented a system and method for providing a site-related weather insurance contract. She left SFSA in 2014 and went on to set up Kenya’s pioneering insurtech Pula with Njeru as co-founder in 2015.Both are now co-CEOs of the Nairobi-based startup, education and helping over 4m small-scale farmers to protect their livelihoods from environmental hazards with tailor-made micro-finance and insurance products.

A Jack of many trades, Xue Shuai majored in investment at East China Normal University, and pursued postgraduate studies in Chinese painting. He dabbled in selling wine and tourism, before joining Huawei as a project manager in 2001 (the year China entered the WTO), traveling across China and overseas (India, Thailand, Nepal, etc.) for work. Xue quit Huawei in 2008, spent a “gap year” mountaineering, before founding Yunjiazheng.

Harvard-trained ex-McKinsey consultant Nadiem Makarim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Affairs from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Before launching Gojek, Nadiem worked at McKinsey, Zalora Indonesia and Kartuku. Makarim was born in 1984 in Singapore. In October 2019, Makarim left Gojek to take up the post of Minister of Education and Culture in the Indonesian cabinet of ministers.

He left the financial services company with its founding partner Marshall Utoyo in 2013. They decided to set up a coworking space hub Conclave in Jakarta, together with two other graduates from ITB. Based in Jakarta, Aditya has been CFO of Conclave since January 2013. He has also been working as an investment associate since July 2015 at MDI Ventures, Telkom’s venture capital arm.

He returned to Indonesia in 1992 to establish a mail order company that was shut down due to the 1998 Asian financial crisis. Undaunted, he went on to establish a TV shopping company and a VOIP company. He also founded PT Mitra Cipta Teknologi, the company behind e-commerce HargaHot in 2012. However, Jasin later decided to quit HargaHot to co-found Kioson in 2015.

Philippe Gelis is a co-founder and CEO of Kantox, a foreign currency exchange management platform. Born in Narbonne, France, in 1979, he now lives in Barcelona where the company's main offices are located. Prior to setting up Kantox in 2011, Gelis worked as a strategy and management consultant at Deloitte and as a financial consultant at Axis Corporate. His first job was as financial controller at Renault, Switzerland. Gelis holds a master's in Business Strategy and an MBA in Corporate Finance, both from Toulouse Business School, France.

Xu is founder and director of the Embedded Sensing and Computing Group at the State University of New York at Buffalo and serves as an associate professor in the university's Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In February 2015, he co-founded Sennotech in Shenzhen and has served as Chief Scientist ever since. Xu leads Sennotech’s US lab.

After graduating from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia with a bachelor's degree in Politics, she began her career as a radio host and journalist in 2002, working for KBR68H and Green Radio Jakarta. In 2008 she joined Metro TV, eventually becoming the producer of Mata Najwa, a talk show hosted by well-known anchor Najwa Shihab. Together with Najwa, she established the omni-channel media network Narasi TV in 2017. Dahlia officially left Metro TV in 2018.

In 1999, he dropped out of East China Normal University three months after matriculating to start his first business venture. In 2006, Ying worked at Standard Chartered Bank. In 2008, he started a mobile game distributing business, later acquired by the V1 Group. Ying became president of China Mobile Games and Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of V1, in 2013. In 2015, he founded Hero Entertainment.

After four years with the World Bank, he joined TaniHub as co-founder and president in 2016.Pamitra graduated in Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Bandung in 2010 and obtained a master's in Economics in 2011 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He is also a partner and senior advisor at P2P lending firm Perdana and microloan app Akulaku.

In 2015, he joined the environment-focused property developer PT Magale Sayana Indonesia as co-founder and president commissioner. He was previously the chief strategy officer of Magale’s latest venture Magalarva.

In 2018, he became an analyst at CapitaLand Indonesia, a local branch of the Singapore real estate developer. In June 2019, he left CapitaLand to focus on building the new equity crowdfunding platform CrowdDana.
