Co-founder, CTO and Head of Product of James
A computer scientist with nearly a decade of experience, Sam Hopkins received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of New Mexico. He started his career in the United States, as a software engineer for Flashgroup in Greater Pittsburgh Area. Hopkins moved to Portugal in 2014 to work at GetSocial.io, and then Unbabel. In 2015, he became the third co-founder of CrowdProcess, the producers of James credit risk assessment platform, where he worked as CTO until September 2017. Since then, he co-founded DareData Engineering and Lisbon Data Science Academy.

A programmer turned management executive, Furia Agustinus has over 16 years of work experience in the US and in Indonesia. After graduating with a bachelor’s in Computer Science in 2001 from Cornell University, USA, Furia worked as a programmer for Oracle for three years.In 2004, he returned home to work at Indonesian bank BCA and AIA Financial. In 2013, he joined PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk and was part of the co-founding team that built the company’s new tech subsidiary that was later branded as Travelio. He left Travelio in 2016.

Alvin Kumarga is an experienced technical consultant and a Magna Cum Laude graduate in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, USA. Alvin was a market research intern and later became a special projects consultant at Hybrid Silica Technologies before graduating in 2011. He worked in Boston at Stroud Consulting before returning to Indonesia in 2014 to work for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).He left BCG in October 2015 to develop new products and corporate business for online travel agency Traveloka. In the meantime, he also co-founded Airy Rooms in 2015 but exited the startup in June 2017.

After graduating from Zhejiang University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Zhu started his career as a product designer for chinapages. Subsequently, he worked for eBao as a director of product management, Microsoft as Principal Creative Director and SAP, as User Experience Architect. In 2015, when researching China’s macro economy, she spotted the huge market potential of the country’s agriculture sector, given changes in China's population policy (the one-child policy was soon ended).In 2016, she left Goldman Sachs to found Farm Friend with Yu Yang and Meng Fanqi.Hou was named to the 2017 Forbes China 30 elites under 30 list.

Computer Data Communications graduate from Malaysia Zac Cheah is an Erasmus Mundus scholar with a master’s in Computing from Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology and a master’s in Security and Mobile Computing from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.After his master’s graduation in 2008, Zac joined Opera Software AS in Norway and Opera Oupeng in China. He left Opera in 2013 to co-found Cross platform HTML5 games developer Wozlla in China. In 2016, Zac moved to Indonesia and co-founded payments app Pundi-Pundi. He became the CEO of Pundi X in September 2017.

Liris Maduningtyas graduated in 2014 with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. She had worked as an assistant teacher for a program run by the university and Schneider Electric. After finishing her final year project at Chevron, she joined Schlumberger as a field engineer stationed in Riau, Indonesia. Liris left a year later to join fellow UGM graduates to establish electronics startup Atnic. Liris managed the marketing and financial affairs of Atnic that created Jala for shrimp farmers, and was promoted to CEO of Jala in 2018.

A graduate from Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, Ian McKenna had worked for Ericsson (Hutchison Australia) and Vodafone before joining the University of Indonesia to learn the local language in 2010. Based in Jakarta, he joined Fusion Payments in 2011 as country manager and also became its VP of Product and Marketing in 2013.Ian had also co-founded online directory BangArif in 2014 and an on-site customer support service named “What the FAQ” in 2017. He exited both ventures and also left Fusion Payments to focus on establishing PT Infra Digital Indonesia.

In 2017, he joined the Endeavor Scaling Entrepreneurial Ventures program with Harvard Business School.Based in Salamanca, he is the founding partner of Socio that has been operating two women-only fitness centers Curves since 2006. In 2009, he established Chocolat Factory. While running the businesses, Sánchez had been working at IT group GPM Innovación since 1998. He left GPM and closed down his chocolate delicatessen in 2012 to focus on Beonprice as co-founder and CEO.

After graduating from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Information and Computer Science, he founded ExpiTrans Inc, a B2B payment processing company. Shaw left ExpiTrans in 2010 and moved to Indonesia the following year before assuming the CTO position at social network Multiply.com in 2013. In 2016, while still based in Indonesia, Shaw established Brankas, a new payment processing platform for startups and other businesses.

In 2005, Lin graduated from the University of Cambridge with a master’s degree in Engineering. Upon graduating, he worked at the British Standards Institution as Chief Representative of China. In 2007, he co-founded AISpeech with Gao Shixing and Yu Kai. He created AISpeech’s oral English teaching business unit and focused on the development of speech assessment technology. In May 2014, AISpeech spun off the oral English teaching business unit into a new company called Chivox. Lin has served as founder and CEO of Chivox ever since.

He returned to Brazil and worked as a systems analyst at Moon Tools and Abramar Construtora. Both companies were co-founded and run by fellow co-founder Yannick Rault van der Vaart.
