Established as an Internet forum in 1999, Kaskus is one of Indonesia's most successful online communities, outlasting many other Indonesian dotcom companies established at the turn of the century. Originally hosted in the USA where its founders lived and studied at the time, Kaskus eventually branched out into content creation and online advertisements, growing via several investments and acquisitions.

Jonathan Neman is a co-founder and co-CEO of USA healthy-eating restaurant franchise Sweetgreen. As co-CEO, he has managed the salad chain since opening its first outlet in 2007, raising more than $470m in VC funding in the process. Neman is also an investor in various F&B startups, such as frozen food maker EatPops and Indonesian coffee chain Kopi Kenangan.

Global Brain Corporation is an early stage venture capital fund based in Tokyo, Japan. It was founded in 1998 and has expanded globally, with offices in South Korea’s Seoul, Southeast Asia and Silicon Valley, USA. Leveraging its global network, the company aims to nurture world-class venture companies through investments and hands-on support. Elisabeth Kurniawan has had an established international career in media and fashion, having worked at Saint Laurent and Cartier in both the USA and Indonesia. Elisabeth holds associate degrees in Fashion and Apparel Design from École Supérieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode (ESMOD), France and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, USA, from which she also earned a bachelor's in Business Management. Prior to establishing The Shonet, she was Editor in Chief of Popbela, a news website under the IDN Media network.

Sandeep Aggarwal is a serial entrepreneur with an MBA from Washington University at St. Louis, USA. He worked at Microsoft and Citibank before returning to India in 2011 to establish ShopClues, India’s first online managed marketplace and the country’s fifth unicorn in the consumer internet sector . In 2014, he also founded an automotive e-commerce site Droom, where he currently serves as CEO. He recently became an angel investor and plans to invest US$3 million in 2017.

Jointly managed by Fondo de Fondos and Sun Mountain Capital, Mexico Ventures leads venture capital strategies in Mexico and USA. The VC offers solutions to add value to diverse business portfolios. Starting with minimum investments of US$1 million, the firm has interests in companies and other funds. It is based at the offices of the Mexican Capital Investment Corporation in Mexico City and also has operations in Santa Fe and New Mexico.

Although trained as a civil engineer, Silvia Pratama’s extensive experience in managing projects has led her to become a co-founder and CEO of Rekruta. After graduating from the University of California Berkeley in USA, she worked as an assistant project manager in a collaborative venture between Parsons Brinckerhoff and the San Francisco International Airport.

Former editor-in-chief at Trends Media Group (publisher of Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Trends Home in China), where she was the publisher and editor-in-chief of “Good Housekeeper” and “Good Housekeeping” for eight years. Wen Jie graduated from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Kent State University (media studies), USA.

Sandeep Tandon is a serial entrepreneur and investor, with a bachelor’s and a master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California, USA. He is currently the managing director of Tandon Technology Ventures, part of Sandeep’s Tandon Group that is based in San Jose in California. He also co-founded Freecharge that was recently sold to Paytm, an e-commerce brand owned by India’s mobile internet company One97 Communications. Sandeep is an active angel investor and mentor, with personal investments in 15 startups including a first Series A funding of US$ 4.5 million in Unacademy in January 2017.

Plug and Play Tech Center is a startup accelerator and venture fund based in Silicon Valley, USA. It invests in over 100 startups every year, from pre-product to Series A, including Dropbox and Lending Club.The VC launched its first accelerator program in Indonesia in February 2017, in partnership with Indonesia’s Gan Kapital. Since then, the program has provided mentorship and US$50,000 funding to each of the 11 startups selected from the ASEAN region including Astronaut Technologies. Other corporate partners include Astra International, BNI, Bank BTN and Sinar Mas.

Pablo Fernandez Alveraz is the CEO and co-founder of, an online marketplace for second-hand cars. Clicars secured investments from former executives working at Mercedes, General Motors, Santander Bank and Mapfre. He has degrees from Harvard Business School and the University of Madrid. He spent over 14 years working as an investment banker and consultant in Europe, USA and Latin America before diving into the world of startups. The former Boston Consulting Group (BCG) consultant was also part of the team that led the corporate strategy and digital transformation of Santander Bank in the US.

Prior to establishing headhunting platform Ekrut in 2016, Steven Suliawan was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at East Ventures. While at East Venture, he helped portfolio companies identify potential employees and recognized the need to streamline the manual process of sorting through job applications and resumes.  Steven graduated with a bachelor's in Industrial Engineering from Ohio State University, USA.
