Silicon Valley highflier Arip Tirta left a top job in 2011 to develop a big data and analytics property platform in Indonesia. He was based in Palo Alto, California for more than seven years and was a director of Investment Analysis and Strategy at a leading venture debt provider Hercules Technology Growth Capital.Armed with a bachelor’s in Mathematics of Computation from UCLA in 2002 and a master’s in Scientific Computing and Computational Mathematics from Stanford University in 2004, Arip found it frustrating to find a property in Indonesia, so he started UrbanIndo.

Dennis Vilovic has lived in the Middle East, Africa and Europe; working as an operations and business development consultant for international organizations and private companies. Originally from Germany, Vilovic is the author of many publications and has also participated in the project “HNA Aleppo”, an analysis of the water supply system in Aleppo, Syria.A Socio-Economic Science graduate from the Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany, Vilovic established TroopTravel in April 2017. The multi-award winning platform helps corporates to organize global group meetings using Big Data, machine learning and meta-search engines.

She worked in 13 different jobs before founding Shuimu. Established by Chinese Academy of Sciences Holdings Co., Ltd., and several other conglomerates in 2011, Cash Capital invests mainly in high-tech startups in the IoT, intelligent manufacturing, mobile internet, big data, artificial intelligence, fintech, healthcare, medical equipment and pharmaceutical sectors. The firm manages assets of more than RMB 10 billion and has invested in nearly 100 companies.

Zhongke Turing (CASTuring) was jointly set up by the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ Institution of Computing Technology, the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and private VC firms, including Pioneer Investment, in 2019. It provides seed funding and incubation services to businesses from emerging industries deemed as strategically important, including but not limited to chipmaking, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and big data. 

GoHub Ventures is the Valencia-based corporate venture capital arm of Global Omnium, a company specialised in water management. The firm invests in the seed and scale-up phases with a ticket size between €500,000 - €3m.The comnpany has so far invested €11m until 2020 and is mostly backing deep tech startups working in AI, big data, 3D, IoT and robotics and cybersecurity sectors.
