East Ventures co-founder Willson Cuaca graduated from Bina Nusantara University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He went on to obtain a masters and a PhD from MIT in 1983 and 1987 respectively. Since 1987, he has been a professor in UC Berkeley and has published over 170 papers. He developed the Canny edge detector that uses a multi-stage algorithm to detect a wide range of edges in images. He is also an ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award winner and a Packard Fellow.
