The Ford Foundation is an international philanthropy established in 1936 by Edsel Ford, son of the founder of the Ford Motor Company Henry Ford. The foundation funds initiatives in various fields with the goal of advancing human welfare. Headquartered in New York, it has offices outside the US, including an Indonesian branch that was opened in 1953. In 2014, it awarded a total of US$750,000 to 12 projects through Cipta Media Seluler (CMS), an open grant that supports social change initiatives powered by mobile phone-related technologies in Indonesia.

A government-backed firm, Portugal Ventures is the country's most active VC. It invests exclusively in Portugal-based or initiated startups. There are currently over 100 companies in its portfolio, predominantly from the engineering, tourism, manufacturing and life sciences sectors. Established in 2012, Portugal Ventures focuses on MVP-ready projects and invests from €300,000 to €1.5m in the projects it selects for funding. The firm has managed eight exits to date. It most recently invested in the €1m seed round of conversational games developer Doppio Games and in the €2m seed round of remote access security company Fyde.

Warren Shaeffer is the co-founder of online video community Vidme. He was also COO of SocialEngine, co-founded by Vidme co-founder Alex Benzer. He had also worked at Golden Gate Capital and JPMorgan. Shaeffer received his bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard University and was a Detur Book Prize recipient.

Born in 1965, Carmen Busquets is a Venezuelan luxury and fashion goods entrepreneur since 1992.

British Oxford-educated engineer William Reeve is a serial investor and entrepreneur who built two successful businesses Fletcher Research and LOVEFiLM.com from scratch and led them to successful exits.  He is currently Chairman of online investment management platform Nutmeg.com, CEO of proptech accelerator Goodlord and Non-Executive Director of Dunhelm Soft Furnishings. He was also Co-CEO and Chairman at grocery delivery company Hubbub.co.uk and was Non-Executive Chairman at healthy snack startup Graze.com. He was Head of Operations at Paddy Power betting agency, Managing Director of Oxalyst Systems and has been a non-executive director at a host of online platforms including Secret Escapes, Zoopla! and DealChecker.co.uk. 

Global technology investment firm Atomico was set up in 2006 by Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström. Since then, it has made over 140 investments with a focus on the European market. Atomico’s team of investors includes founders of six billion-dollar companies, and operational leaders at companies such as Skype, Google, Uber, Facebook and Spotify. The London-based investment company has managed 27 exits to date including Supercell, Fab, the Climate Corporation and Rovio Entertainment. Its recent investments include in Peakon's Series B, AccuRx's Series A and in Graphcore and Clutter's Series D rounds. 

Formerly known as Google Ventures and established in 2009, GV is the VC arm of Alphabet, Inc. and stresses that it invests in the “best companies, not strategic investment for Google”. GV is headquartered in Mountain View, California, with offices in San Francisco, Boston, New York, and London and it currently has over US$3.5 billion under management. It has invested in more than 600 companies across different sectors and stages, with more than 160 as lead investor and has seen 120 exits.  Its recent investments include in Lemonade and KeepTruckin's Series D rounds and in Harness' Series B.

UK-based venture capital firm Notion Capital was established in 2009 by SaaS firm MessageLabs founders Stephen Chandler and Jos White. MessageLabs was sold to Symantec for US$700 million the year before. Notion focuses on European enterprise software startups and has about US$350 million under management. The company has invested in 50 startups with a special emphasis on SaaS and Cloud-based applications. It has managed 10 exits to date including Adbrain and NewVoiceMedia. Its recent investments include GoCardless' Series E round, debt financing for DueDil and in Vortexa's Series A round. 

Led by Ben Einstein, the Boston-based venture capital firm focuses on startups involved in hardware and software development. The VC invests up to US$500,000 in pre-seed, pre-product startups to Series A funding rounds. The firm has investment and engineering departments that provide engineering and product design support services. It has worked with Google, Ferrari and Disney.

Start-Up Chile is a public accelerator program set up by the Chilean government and looks to invest in startups across the world with Chile as their foundation. It has a diverse portfolio, having invested in startups from Europe, North America and Asia. Start-Up Chile primarily gives seed and grant funding, typically investing between $15,000 and $90,000.

Ex-Yahoo COO Henrique De Castro is currently on the board of Target Corp. His work experience includes Google, Dell and McKinsey. He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business from the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão, and his MBA from the International Institute for Management Development.

Frontline Ventures is a London-based VC firm that typically invests in early-stage B2B companies with the bulk of funding going toward European companies seeking a U.S. expansion. The current Fund II, worth €60 million, closed in 2016 and they are looking to make investments of between €200,000 and €3 million each.

Vynn Capital LP was founded in early 2018 by former Gobi Partners vice president Victor Chua and Darren Chua from Singapore. Victor joined Gobi in 2015 and was on Forbes’ 30 under 30 Asia list 2017: Finance and Venture Capital.The Malaysian VC, with plans to raise a maiden fund of US$40 million, will focus on financing collaborations among large corporates, SMEs and innovative startups in the ASEAN region including Myanmar. It will invest in 15 to 30 companies. with seed funds ranging from US$300,000 to US$500,000 and Series A of US$1 million.

Transformed from the well-established state-owned Govtor Capital in 1992, Addor Capital is one of the most influential investment institutions in China today. It manages more than RMB 75 billion, and has set up more than 70 different investment funds, backing more than 650 startups.

Shanghai Dingfeng Asset Management focuses on the management of securities investment and equity investment. With an AUM exceeding RMB 10 billion, the company is led by a group of core partners including Zhang Gao, Li Linjun, Wang Xiaogang, Liu Cheng, Chen Zhengxu and Wang Shaoyan. To date it has won 11 Golden Bull Awards and 50 others, including 2013 Forbes China Best Hedge Fund and 2014 Morningstar China Hedge Fund.
