Chief Scientist and Co-founder of Squirrel AI
Squirrel AI Chief Scientist and co-founder Cui Wei received his PhD in 2012 from University College Dublin, Ireland, where he conducted research on artificial intelligence and its application to ultra-high frequency trading. Upon graduation, he joined web-based learning system provider Realizeit (DBA of CCKF) in Ireland, where he applied AI to adaptive education. In 2013, the duo co-founded Plastic Bank in 2013 to launch a “Social Plastic” movement to reduce ocean plastic and set up recycling centers to create jobs to improve the livelihood of locals in under-served coastal villages. The Canadian co-founder is now the CTO of Plastic Bank. In 2014, he also became an advisor at HeroX, a social network for innovation with over 2m members.

Prior to co-founding Uniplaces in 2011, he was a biotech analyst at KBC Peel Hunt and a business analyst at SRC Oxford. He was also an associate at private equity firm HIG Capital for a year and founded NACUE, the UK’s leading membership organization for engaging students in enterprise. Grech is British and is also the founder of Nottingham Entrepreneurs in 2007 which he also presided over until 2009. He was CEO at Uniplaces until 2018 when he left the post and became Non-Executive Chairman.
