Founder and CEO of Makaron
Cai received a degree in engineering from Université de Technologie de Troyes in 2011. In 2012, he obtained a master's degree in Project Management from Essec Business School Paris and a Master of Sciences from Telecom ParisTech. Cai then worked at Microsoft France for a year. In 2013, he co-founded DreamStorm, which helped like-minded people start businesses, which was acquired by EFactor at a valuation of US$6.5m in 2014. Cai then became a partner at Gewara, a movie ticket booking startup. He left the company after it was acquired by Weiying Times in 2016. In 2017, Cai founded Makaron and has acted as CEO ever since.

Leonardo Rico Fernandez is CEO and co-founder of Mexican biotech startup Lluvia Sólida, a water retention solution for drought conditions, where he has worked since he re-founded it in 2017. He used the same name of a company he founded in 2012 and ran with a different team, which was dissolved in 2016. He is the son of the inventor of the technology, Sergio Rico Velasco, and was instrumental in positioning the product’s use from residual waste water treatment to agritech. Rico previously worked in a private school, Indo-American College, in Tlalnepantla in the State of Mexico City as a systems administrator. Edgar Jorba is CEO and co-founder at Aimentia, which runs the first AI-powered cloud-based virtual clinic for mental health patients. He has been based in Spain since 2018. Jorba previously worked in mental health research for more than two years in Spain and in France. Seeing the need for digitalization and improvement in mental health assessments and long wait times experienced by patients gave him the inspiration to start Aimentia.Jorba is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications technologies and services engineering at the Open University of Catalonia. He also holds a degree in industrial engineering from IQS in Barcelona.

He joined a SynBio project team to create PHA bioplastics during his postgrad research at university.Li was also the leader of Tsinghua University’s team that won a gold medal at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Design Competition. He met Zhang Haoqian at the iGEM giant jamboree in 2010 and they have remained friends ever since.Li and Zhang co-founded Bluepha in 2016, a spin-off from Tsinghua University’s SynBio research project. In 2018, Li was selected for MIT Technology Review’s list of Innovators under 35. In 2019, he was named one of the 40 Chinese business elites under 40.

He also lectures part-time in Leadership and Management in Healthcare at his former university, where UpHill was established.Sequiera has been President of ANEM, the Portuguese Medical Students’ International Committee and for two years helped develop the medical curriculum at the University of Luxembourg.
