In 2019, Juanfra Abad Navarro became the CEO and co-founder of agroSingularity, a Murcia-based startup producing natural powder ingredients from wasted agricultural by-products.The graphic and product designer has led multiple international innovation projects at the Catholic University of Murcia and at the European Business Factory. He also co-founded and headed Innovarligero for over nine years, facilitating innovative agile processes for agrifood SMEs. Navarro was selected as one of 10 brilliant Murcian entrepreneurs to join the executive training programs of the Advanced Leadership Foundation (ALF). Through AFL, he had the opportunity to meet former US President Barack Obama during the Summit of Technological Innovation and Circular Economy held in Madrid in 2018.

In 2019, Daniel Andreu Acosta became the CMO and co-founder of agroSingularity, a Murcia-based startup producing natural powder ingredients from discarded agricultural by-products.He has over 10 years of experience in sales and marketing. He was also a managing partner at FuelUp Business Factory, a business boutique specializing in high-tech solutions for retail and customer intelligence. Acosta is also a guest professor at the European Business Factory and the Catholic University of Murcia.

Alejandro Wonenburger García came up with the idea for Plant on Demand (POD) during a research project for his joint master’s degree studies in Finland and the Netherlands.He specialized in International Business at SeAMK (Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences) in western Finland from 2013–17. He was based in the Netherlands during 2015–16 to read Strategic Management and International Business Management at Fontys Venlo University of Applied Sciences in Limburg. He speaks six European languages including Dutch.Since 2018, the Spanish co-founder of POD has taken on the roles of project coordinator and chief commercial officer. The POD agrifood marketplace and online management platform is specially designed for the needs of small-scale farmers.

Antonio Tripiana Caballero worked for almost two years as project engineer at the Signal Processing for Communications and Navigation (SPCOMNAV) research group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).The Department of Telecommunications and Systems Engineering project was part of Tripiana’s master’s degree in Telecoms Systems Engineering during his university days from 2011 to 2016. He also completed a one-year exchange program at Finland’s Tampere University of Technology.Tripiana worked as a freelance full-stack developer in Barcelona during his studies. He worked for four months as a scientist at Barcelona’s Mobile World Capital to develop a cloud-based GNSS receiver for IoT devices with ultra-low battery consumption. He also spent five months testing receivers at the European Space Agency (ESA) in the Netherlands.In 2018, he co-founded Plant on Demand (POD) as the startup’s Solutions Architect. He took on the full-time role of CTO during 1Q2020.

Bernat Añaños Martínez is co-founder and Chief Social Movement Officer of Spanish plant-based meat startup, Foods for Tomorrow, where he has worked since 2017.  He was previously CMO and Chief Growth Officer. A committed vegan and environmentalist, Añaños, worked briefly in China's EventBank, the first smart event management cloud platform, and in the European Parliament's press office in Brussels. Añaños has a first degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Barcelona, a master’s in Corporate Communication and Public Relations from the UK’s Leeds University and a postgraduate qualification in Digital Marketing from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.He has volunteered at various NGOs for about 13 years.  

Mariel Diaz Castro is Co-founder and CEO at Triditive, an additive manufacturing technology startup founded in 2016. A Colombian national and mechanical and industrial engineer, Diaz studied at the University of Oviedo prior to launching Triditive. Diaz also lectures in additive manufacturing at industrial engineering school COGITIPA, and is a European Commission Expert in Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. She has been a teacher of creative 3D printing at the University of Oviedo and worked at American 3D print designer Shapeways. Diaz speaks English, Chinese and Spanish. 

Miguel Frasquet Herraiz is passionate about the energy sector, having worked for six years on projects in China, the UAE and several European countries, as well as four years at the CTAER (Advanced Technology Centre for Renewable Energy) as an engineer and solar R&D coordinator. In 2016, Frasquet co-founded Solatom based on his PhD thesis and is currently the CEO of the startup that develops solar concentrators for industrial applications.

Marçal Rossinyol is a computer scientist, associate researcher and R&D project manager in the Computer Vision Centre (CVC) in Spain, where he participated in over 20 competitive research projects at national level and also for the European Commission. Since 2005 he is teaching assistant and lecturer at the Computer Science Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.Rossinyol also joined entrepreneurship programs in digital humanities and automatic reading systems, which, in 2019, led him to co-found AllRead MLT, a deep-tech startup that converts text, symbols and codes to Big Data using computer vision technology, character recognition and machine learning. His interests also include deep learning, data science, reading systems, information retrieval and performance evaluation. 

Núria Pastor is the CEO and co-founder of HumanITcare, a telemedicine platform for remote patient monitoring using real-world data and AI to treat patients affected by chronic diseases and also to accelerate drug development and clinical trials. Under the helm of Pastor the startup has doubled its user base and is poised to become a leading player in digital health. Pastor holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Barcelona and a Masters in Research in neuroscience from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Prior to HumanITcare, she worked as a researcher at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and the University of Barcelona. She has also worked as Business Analyst in EIT Health and has mentored at the European Commission.

Nuno Sebastião is CEO and co-founder at Feedzai, the world’s market-leading digital solution in fighting online fraud and the fourth Portuguese unicorn, where he has worked full-time since 2010, from before its official launch. Since 2018, he has also been a senior advisor at Feedzai’s investor, the US-based VC Oak HC/FC. Prior to Feedzai, Sebastião was a product manager at the European Space Agency in Germany from 2006–10, where he led the development of the Satellite Simulation Infrastructure. Previously, he was Founder and CEO at his first startup, a company pioneering software validation for the aerospace sector, for just under two years, and worked as a consultant at Critical Software and Deloitte, for a total of three years.Sebastião holds two MBAs, one from London Business School and the other from UCLA, and completed his undergraduate studies in computer science at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. 

Paulo Marques is CTO and co-founder at Feedzai, the world’s market-leading solution in fighting online fraud and the fourth Portuguese unicorn, where he has worked full-time since 2009, from before its official launch. He has also been a member of Forbes Technology Council since 2016 and simultaneously Scientific Director and part of the leadership team of the Carnegie Mellon Portugal international program.He was previously an expert technical consultant for the European Space Agency at the European Space Operation Center in Darmstadt, Germany for six years as well as simultaneously being an assistant professor at his former university, the University of Coimbra. Marques was also previously a software consultant at Coimbra’s Critical Software for 11 years and founded his own software company WIT Software.  Marques holds a PhD in informatics engineering from the University of Coimbra and also studied software engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in the US.

Hawa Traore is CEO and co-founder at Teliman, Mali’s first on-demand mobility startup and one of francophone Africa’s first, where she has worked since its launch in 2018. She initially worked as COO for one year before becoming CEO.  Before that, Traore worked as an engineer at one of Europe’s largest nuclear power plants, the European Pressurized Reactor (EPR) Flamanville 3 in France, for 4.5 years in construction planning and in project management. Previously, Traore completed a stint at Zodiac Aerospace as an engineer testing the life cycle of Airbus A320-200 cabins. The Malian national has a degree in mechanical and industrial engineering from Paris’ École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Metiers and also holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. 

Mathieu Carlier is CEO and co-founder of Everimpact, a GHG monitoring company that uses satellites, ground sensors, AI and machine learning to deliver more accurate and immediate carbon emissions data to public bodies, municipalities, and businesses. He has over 20 years of experience as an advisor to governments, public institutions at the likes of the UN, the European Commission and EU Agencies, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and large corporations in international development. Prior to Everimpact, much of Carlier’s career was spent in complex data systems projects for government elections or for health ministries in war-torn or post-conflict developing countries. This included delivering multimillion-dollar biometric and big data projects in the run-up to 50 presidential elections in countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, the Congo and Benin. Carlier is based in Copenhagen, Denmark and holds an MSc in Business Administration from the Burgundy School of Business.

Possibly Europe's most famous e-commerce investor, Rocket Internet is known for replicating the business models of successes like Amazon, Alibaba and Uber in new markets. Rocket is based in Berlin and was founded in 2007 by brothers Oliver, Alexander and Marc Samwer. It went public in 2014.

HGI Finaves China is initiated by HGI Capital, a Hong Kong-based investment fund, and CEIBS, a business school established under an agreement between China’s trade ministry and the European Commission. It makes seed/angel round as well as Series A investments in the TMT, culture and creative, and consumer-related sectors in China.
