Co-founder, CTO and Head of Product of James
A computer scientist with nearly a decade of experience, Sam Hopkins received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of New Mexico. He started his career in the United States, as a software engineer for Flashgroup in Greater Pittsburgh Area. Hopkins moved to Portugal in 2014 to work at GetSocial.io, and then Unbabel. In 2015, he became the third co-founder of CrowdProcess, the producers of James credit risk assessment platform, where he worked as CTO until September 2017. Since then, he co-founded DareData Engineering and Lisbon Data Science Academy.

Co-founder of AISpeech
In 2005, Lin graduated from the University of Cambridge with a master’s degree in Engineering. Upon graduating, he worked at the British Standards Institution as Chief Representative of China. In 2007, he co-founded AISpeech with Gao Shixing and Yu Kai. He created AISpeech’s oral English teaching business unit and focused on the development of speech assessment technology. In May 2014, AISpeech spun off the oral English teaching business unit into a new company called Chivox. Lin has served as founder and CEO of Chivox ever since.

José Antonio Molina Rodríguez is a co-founder of AEInnova and was responsible for the development of its first thermoelectric mechanical technology. He has designed more than 100 different machines and mechanical components for multiple industrial applications, including several plants for the manufacture of gypsum plaster. Antonio received the maximum score in a first year program using the finite element method (FEM) for calculations. He also won the PIMEC award for business innovation and internationalization strategy for Catalan SMEs in 2006. He graduated in Mechanics and Technical, Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

He worked at Deloitte Consulting for several years before teaming up with ICADE alumnus Manual de la Esperanza to build the Wave app that could track the movements of friends and family. Besides being the CFO and COO at Wave, Gelado is also an associate academy member of International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). In 2018, he became the CEO and co-founder of GeoDB, a decentralized geolocation data marketplace.

Carlos Matilla Codesal is co-founder and CEO of Spanish drone technology company FuVeX, which has been in operation since 2015. He was founder and president of FuVe-E, a student entrepreneurial association for participating in international engineering competitions at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), where Matilla earned his degree in Aerospace Engineering in 2014. He managed two FuVe-E projects: designing one of the world's first gyrocopter UAVs and constructing an unmanned underwater vehicle. Matilla also studied Naval Architecture at UPM. He is also founder and CEO of LeadToWin and CEO of Plexiled Lighting, S.L. and is a specialist in digital transformation and lead generation channels and a professor at Inesdi Digital Business School.

He has also worked in engineering product design at Mecatecno. Llobet holds a degree in Industrial Design Engineering and Product Development from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona. He speaks four languages and is a keen cyclist and rower.

In 2015, Bao Chunjian recruited a few former Tencent employees and founded a startup to help blue-collar workers find jobs but that business failed in 2016. He then started Xiaoe Tech.

Edwin Widjonarko spent almost 6 years working as a research assistant at the USA’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory and at University of Colorado Boulder. In some of the projects he worked on, Widjonarko contributed to the development of new generation solar panels. In 2015, he left the research sphere to join Intel Corporation as a technology development process engineer. He stayed on until 2018, when he left Intel and returned to Indonesia to establish Xurya, a solar power company. Working with longtime friend Gusmantara Himawan and former East Ventures associate Philip Effendy, Widjonarko now works as Xurya’s director of technology.
