Portuguese national Sofia Nunes holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the Higher Institute of Applied Psychology in Lisbon and a master’s in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University. She is currently head of Talent & Culture at Mambu, a startup she co-founded, where she supports a growing team of engineers, application specialists, salespeople and marketers. In 2010, Nunes worked as a Human-Computer Interaction researcher at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology.

Ahmad Rizqy Akbar is the CEO and CFO of Growpal, an investment crowdfunding platform for aquaculture and fishery projects. A graduate of Aquaculture studies from Indonesia’s Universitas Brawijaya, he has run his own fish and shrimp farm and had worked at Pertamina Dana Ventura, a venture capital fund owned by national oil and gas firm Pertamina. In 2017, he joined fellow Brawijaya graduate Paundra Noorbaskoro to establish Growpal.

He started developing rehab robots in 2009 and founded Jinghe Robot in 2012. The startup, developer of rehab robot Flexbot, was acquired by rehab device manufacturer QJ Rehab in 2015. Gu founded Fourier Intelligence in July 2015 and has served as CEO ever since.

It provides non-equity funding assistance, mentorship and networking opportunities, as well as specialist resources for not-for-profit ventures.Since 2012, SkyDeck-backed startups have raised total funding of over $1.47bn, with 17 achieving exits through acquisitions. The accelerator’s investment-arm is Berkeley SkyDeck Fund also invests about $100,000 per startup during the program. Half of the SkyDeck fund’s profits goes to UC Berkeley to support public education projects. The fund is run by Chon Tang as managing partner and Brian Bordley as principal. Soares is co-founder and Director of Engineering at AddVolt, the first renewable energy tech to replace diesel engines for cold chain transport, where he has worked since 2013, when it was still a research project. Prior to that, he worked as both Assistant Professor and Research Engineer at the University of Porto's Faculty of Engineering, the birthplace of AddVolt. He has also worked as a research director for packaging materials and cable machinery. He currently works as a research professor and lecturer at two local universities in Finland.
