After earning his master’s degree in Automotive Engineering from Tsinghua University in 2010, He led R&D of a new energy bus system for Shanghai Expo. He has also served as head of the intelligent vehicle and autonomous driving division at Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd.

Wang Bin founded home furniture company Smart Room in March 2015. He re-branded Smart Room into Smart Bees that was launched in Shanghai in December 2016. Wang had worked for several years as a general manager at the East China branch of Jindalu Cultural Industry Group before becoming an entrepreneur.

Javier Colmenarejo is the Spanish co-founder and CEO of Sea Water Analytics, a tourism-focused data aggregator with user app to measure seawater quality. The technology has been in development since 2017, though the company was formally launched in Madrid in April 2020. He has spent more than 15 years as a civil engineer, working in hydraulic and water treatment systems. He  currently works on smart city initiatives on the Adapting Cities to Change program in Madrid and he lectures in Big Data, IoT, Data Services and Business in two Madrid institutions. He works part-time at Sea Water Analytics' technical partner Talentum as a blockchain and IoT innovation manager.Colmenarejo holds four master's degrees: in Big Data and Business Analytics from Madrid's School of Industrial Organization (EIO); in Data Science and IoT from Madrid Institute of Things Institute; in Business Administration from The Power MBA; and in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

Serial entrepreneur Yu Jianjun founded three businesses before co-founding his most successful startup Ximalaya, China’s largest online audio sharing and service platform. After graduating with a masters in mechanical engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Yu began his entrepreneurial journey by building virtual city maps using 3D modeling technology. His second business, City Bar, was sold to Baidu.  

Moventis is a Spanish family-run transportation company that specializes in urban and inter-city bus and tram services, as well as bus rentals. It was established in 1923 and is based in the Catalan city of Lerida. It does not normally invest in tech startups and its investment in Shotl is believed to be its first in a startup. 

Chen Hong used to work at a smart community company as a professional manager. She co-founded Zhongzheng Information in 2015. 

NUMA is a Paris-based innovation hub with offices in New York, Berlin, Moscow, Barcelona, Mexico City, Casablanca in Morocco and Bengalaru, India. Supported by its 130 staff members, the company runs training and startup acceleration programs globally. To date, 300 startups have participated in NUMA's acceleration program, which was developed in partnership with the City of Paris. To date, NUMA has seen 17 exits from its investments. 

Shangwan Investment was founded in February 2011 in Shenzhen, a major city in southeastern China.

UK-born serial entrepreneur Edward Hamilton founded his first tech startup, Lavalocker, in Barcelona in 2013 to provide on-demand laundry and dry-cleaning services. He later built on the smart-locker technology to establish Mayordomo that launched Smart Point in 2016, a digital vending system with smart lockers to offer personal shopping, delivery and pickups for over 200 categories of goods and services. Hamilton graduated in Business Administration from Berkeley, University of California in 2000. He worked for almost four years at WP Carey & Co in New York specializing in investments and acquisitions. In March 2006, he moved to London to work as a real estate equity investment manager at Barclay’s Capital. In 2010, he went to Spain to work as a Green Bean business coach for SMEs based in Barcelona. His latest venture is Droppo, which he co-founded in 2019. Based in Barcelona, Droppo is a zero-emission electric last-mile logistics transport network.

Founded in 2014, River VC focuses on early-stage investment in startups in the internet, consumer, smart hardware and big health sectors. 

Before founding the smart vehicle tracking app Trax Center, Hendy Wijaya had worked in the automotive industry for five years, from distributing spare parts to managing repair shops and car rentals. Based on his work experience in the industry, Hendy felt that the vehicle tracking systems that were available in the Indonesian market were inferior. He saw an opportunity to develop a better vehicle tracking solution and created Trax Center. The smart vehicle tracking system was jointly developed with two friends, a software developer Hadi Darmanto and a consumer behavior analyst Ganjar Setyanegara.

Based in New York, VectoIQ was formed in 2016 to fund startups in the smart mobility space. It is led by Steve Girsky, former vice-chairman of General Motors with more than 30 years in the automobile industry. Mary Chan is the managing partner, who also worked at GM as president of global connected consumer. The VC mainly invests in sectors relating to autonomous vehicles, connected car, smart mobility, MaaS, electrification and cybersecurity.

A designer and branding specialist, Petr Báča was inspired to develop a smart vending solution to eliminate plastic packaging in supply chains while working with industry clients at Cocoon Prague, a branding and advertising agency he founded in 1996. In 2015, he set up MIWA Technologies in Prague, to realize his smart vending system into a business. He is currently CEO of MIWA and continues to work in packaging design as a partner at Cocoon Prague.Báča graduated from the University of Economics in Prague in 2002. He is also a founding partner of the Intellectual Capital Investors Association that assists innovators to start their own businesses and to help new companies to scale.

Leonardo Rico Fernandez is CEO and co-founder of Mexican biotech startup Lluvia Sólida, a water retention solution for drought conditions, where he has worked since he re-founded it in 2017. He used the same name of a company he founded in 2012 and ran with a different team, which was dissolved in 2016. He is the son of the inventor of the technology, Sergio Rico Velasco, and was instrumental in positioning the product’s use from residual waste water treatment to agritech. Rico previously worked in a private school, Indo-American College, in Tlalnepantla in the State of Mexico City as a systems administrator. He graduated as an engineer in Electrical Systems from Monterrey University, Mexico City campus.   

SFund, aka Guangzhou Industrial Investment Fund Management Co Ltd, was established in March 2013 by the Guangzhou Municipal Government to boost industrial upgrading in the city. Its business covers government fund management, private equity investment and venture capital investment.In July 2018, SFund became a subsidiary of Guangzhou City Construction Investment Group. The decision was made by the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.SFund has set up seven funds, managing total assets worth RMB 139bn. It has invested in 343 companies, 13 of which have become public-listed.
