Dubbed “star performer” in angel investor Leo Wang (Wang Lijie)’s portfolio. Big on social networks, Liu was part of China’s first social media generation. She worked in 13 different jobs before founding Shuimu. Her first “startup” experience was at aged 15, running an online store selling cut-out CDs on the then three-month-old Taobao, using her uncle’s Internet connection in a rural village in Shaanxi. Balancop will also establish and invest in its own stable of startups, including a telematics service company in China, GM’s Onstar and Toyota’s G-book. Balancop also has offices in Hong Kong and Indonesia.

Founded in 2012 by Wang Yawei, the former vice-president of China Asset Management and the founder of Top Ace Asset Management, Qianhe Capital provides asset management, equity investment and investment management services. As of April 2017, Qianhe Capital had RMB 24 billion under management and issued 11 trust plans and asset management plans.

Established in 2014 by Niu Wenwen, chief editor, president and publisher of Entrepreneur magazine, Dark Horse Ventures invests in early-stage startups in the internet, consumption upgrade, pan-entertainment and high-tech fields. Its backers include many well-known founders, institutional and individual investors such as Liu Qiangdong, Yao Jingbo, Wang Changtian, Bobo Xu, Sequoia Capital China, etc.

Its self-professed investing style is "conservative," with just 10 investments in the year 2015. Preferred market segments in 2016 include children's, men's, fintech, sports and fitness.fintech, sports and fitness.

Qinghan Fund was founded in 2017 by Crystal Stream, New Hope Group and Chinese celebrity Lu Han. Its largest shareholder is Wang Mengqiu, former vice president of Baidu. Qinghan Fund invests primarily in teams (e.g., small groups of people running a WeChat Official Account) that create professionally generated content, media and platforms which cater to the next generation's lifestyle and consumption upgrade needs.

CEO and founder of ScentRealm, Huang Jianwei worked at Alibaba from 2004 to 2011. In 2012, he founded ScentRealm and received seed funding from Wang Gang. He also tried to create a business around QR codes, then tried to build an internet finance business. The latter was a success for a while, but Huang decided to shut it down. In 2015, he pivoted the company to build ScentRealm.
