Pedro Araújo Manuel is the Portuguese founder and CEO of software development company Bitcliq, where he has worked since 2013. He also holds the same positions within its two brands launched to date: Lota Digital, an e-marketplace for small-scale fisherman and sustainable fish retailers with blockchain-enabled traceability, and BIG EYE Smart Fishing, a platform for managing fishing fleets and fish traceability. Previously, Manuel was owner, co-founder and managing partner at tech agency MakeWise for nine years. Before 2013, he spent seven years in software and web development and systems administration at three different companies, including Portugal’s national post office. Manuel holds a master’s degree in Information Technology and Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon.

Pedro Gaspar received his Licentiate degree in Computer Engineering from the Higher Institute of Engineering of Lisbon in 2010, after which he joined Portuguese IT services firm Safira as a software engineer. He is currently a head of IT at 360imprimir, a startup he co-founded in 2013. Portuguese national Gaspar holds a qualification in application development in Microsoft SharePoint and is skilled in Java, JavaScript and C#.

Mariel Diaz Castro is Co-founder and CEO at Triditive, an additive manufacturing technology startup founded in 2016. A Colombian national and mechanical and industrial engineer, Diaz studied at the University of Oviedo prior to launching Triditive. Diaz also lectures in additive manufacturing at industrial engineering school COGITIPA, and is a European Commission Expert in Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. She has been a teacher of creative 3D printing at the University of Oviedo and worked at American 3D print designer Shapeways. Diaz speaks English, Chinese and Spanish. 

Albert Marfà is co-founder and CEO of Spanish bioplastics startup Oimo, which he founded in 4Q17 and initially named Edible Plastic to promote the bioplastics he developed as his final degree project in university. The Spanish national holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree in Industrial and Product Design from London’s Brunel University and is an associate member of Spain’s Institute of Design Engineers. Besides Spanish, he speaks fluent English, French and Catalan.

Markus Cosmann is co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer at UK-based Modulous, the first end-to-end generative design and delivery solution for affordable, sustainable and modulized housing, where he has worked since 2018. He was simultaneously a director  at engineering consultancy Optimise, based in London and Dubai, until 2020, where he had worked since 2012, and where the concept for Modulous was conceived. His construction project credits include the Oslo National Museum and the German and Swiss Pavilions at Dubai Expo 2020. He previously worked in management for six and a half years in Copenhagen at Danish civil engineering company Ramboll, and has an extensive background in fire engineering in his native Germany and the UK, both in research and commercial projects. Cosmann is a certified civil engineer, graduating from the Ruhr University Bochum in Germany.

Marçal Rossinyol is a computer scientist, associate researcher and R&D project manager in the Computer Vision Centre (CVC) in Spain, where he participated in over 20 competitive research projects at national level and also for the European Commission. Since 2005 he is teaching assistant and lecturer at the Computer Science Department of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.Rossinyol also joined entrepreneurship programs in digital humanities and automatic reading systems, which, in 2019, led him to co-found AllRead MLT, a deep-tech startup that converts text, symbols and codes to Big Data using computer vision technology, character recognition and machine learning. His interests also include deep learning, data science, reading systems, information retrieval and performance evaluation. 

During her time as a consultant at McKinsey from 2012 to 2014, Yada Piyajomkwan worked with governments from the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) on financial inclusion. The topic became her focus of study when she enrolled at the Stanford Graduate School of Business’ MBA program as a Fulbright scholar. After earning her MBA, she and fellow Stanford alumnus Anderson Sumarli established online investment advisory startup Ajaib.

Paula Sampaio is a biochemist who completed a PhD in biomedical sciences at the University of Porto in 1998. She worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the IMBC INEB Associate Laboratory for four years. In 2002, she was promoted to the role of head of advanced light microscopy and stayed there until 2015. Sampaio is now the national coordinator for Portuguese bioimage platform PPBI and the head of advanced light microscopy at the Institute of Research and Innovation of the University of Porto (i3S).In November 2019, she joined iLoF as CSO and co-founder. iLoF gets technical support from i3S at the R&D center in Porto. The medtech startup focuses on personalized medicine through the use of AI and photonics to create optical fingerprints in a cloud-based library to gather and manages disease biomarkers and biological profiles.

Nour Akbaraly completed a master’s in engineering at Centrale Lille and also a master’s in applied mathematics at Lille University in 2010. In 2011, Akbaraly joined industrial manufacturing consultancy firm Avencore as a consultant in Paris.The avid photographer and F&B enthusiast also went to various tea-tasting classes at a tea specialist college until 2015. Passionate about gastronomy, he began exploring alt-protein alternatives to address the environmental and ethical challenges of food supply chains.In 2016, he went on an engineering training course for agronomy and agri-food at AgroSup Dijon, the National Institute of Agronomic, Food and Environmental Sciences.A year later, he founded Les Noveaux Affineurs, a startup specializing in plant-based alternatives to cheese. His ambition is to create a new range of French gastronomic vegan cheese products for consumers in France and overseas.Since 2010, Akbaraly is also a volunteer at the Action Contre la Faim, a Paris-based international NGO founded in 1979. The “Action Against Hunger” projects include running awareness campaigns on food security issues in colleges and schools in France and other countries like India and Sudan.

Pierre Fillard is Chief Science Officer and co-founder of Therapixel, creator of AI-powered breast cancer screening and diagnosis software MammoScreen. At Therapixel, he previously held the positions of CEO and CTO. Before founding Therapixel, Fillard was a senior research scientist at INRIA (National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology), where he focused on medical imaging and image processing. He has also been a visiting lecturer at CPE Lyon, a research associate at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Agencies Commission, a PhD candidate at INRIA, and a research assistant at the University of North Carolina. He has a diploma from the HEC School of Management, a master’s in science, mathematics and computer science from the Université Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne and a degree in engineering, computer science, and applied mathematics from the Ecole Supérieure de Chimie Physique Electronique de Lyon. 

Olivier Clatz is the French co-founder of AI medical diagnosis company Therapixel, creator of MammoScreen breast cancer screening and diagnosis tool. Prior to co-founding Therapixel, Clatz worked for six years as a research scientist at INRIA (National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology) based at the Sophia Antipolis technology park near Antibes, in the south of France. His later work with INRIA focused on exploiting machine learning algorithms for medical imaging processing. Prior to this, he was a research associate at Harvard Medical School, in the US. In 2006, he completed his PhD at INRIA on the concept of personalized medicine. Clatz also holds a PhD in philosophy from the Ecole des Mines de Paris, and a master's degree in applied mathematics from the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay. Currently, he works at the French Government’s Commissariat Générale pour l’Investissement managing the national program AI For Diagnostics. He left Therapixel in 2019.

Born in Jiangxi Province in 1962, Yang Wenlong is a traditional Chinese pharmacist and senior economist. The MBA graduate from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business ran a traditional Chinese medicine business from 1982 to 1987 in Zhangshu. He also founded the Jiangxi Kangmei Medical & Healthcare Co Ltd in 1998 and the Renhe Group in 2001.He is the chairman of Renhe Group and Dingdang Medicine Express. He is a member of the national committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a member of the central committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association.

Xu Huansheng was born in 1979 and obtained an MBA from the National School of Development, Peking University. He founded Baidu’s smart hardware unit and Baidu Cloud during his four years at Baidu in the early 2010s. He co-founded Dingdang Medicine Express in 2014. He is now a senior partner at Feihe Dairy (Firmus), one of the biggest infant and toddler formula producers in China.

Harvard graduate Johannes Ardiant earned his bachelor’s degree in Computing from the National University of Singapore. He also pursued a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard. In 2015 he became the co-founder and COO of healthcare services platform Konsula, which pivoted into health food startup Lemonilo in 2017. Currently, he heads Lemonilo’s product, engineering, data, design and operations.

Karen Scofield Seal is the CEO and co-founder of Oceanium, a Scottish startup developing marine-safe bio packaging and plant-based food and nutrition products from sustainably farmed seaweed. During the 90s she lived in New York working as Senior Manager and Producer for the National Football League, as Production Supervisor and Event director at the US OPEN Tennis, and as Coordinating Producer at ABC News.She later moved to London with her husband, where she worked in Comic Relief and in RED, liaising with Apple, American Express and Converse partnerships. In 2009 she co-founded LUCZA, a luxury e-commerce active since 2014. There, she executed marketing and PR strategies including offline and online 
initiatives.
