Formerly known as Google Ventures, GV is the investment arm of Alphabet Inc. Although Alphabet is its sole limited partner, the VC operates independently from Google. It invests in seed, venture and growth-stage funding rounds with more than 300 companies in its portfolio worth over $5bn. Headquartered in California’s Mountain View, GV has offices in San Francisco, Boston, New York and London. The VC has been actively involved in Silicon Valley’s investment rounds for prominent startups like Uber, Slack, Ripple, Impossible Foods, Lime and Medium.

Founded in 1843, Connecticut-based Stanley Black & Decker, is one of the oldest US manufacturing companies. It has acquired tons of organizations in recent decades and invests in a very selected number of startups. Its most recent disclosed tech startup investments via its VC arm Stanley Ventures were in the 2021 $1.8m seed round of Spain’s Triditive, and in the 2019 undisclosed investment round of Argentinian field operations software Iguana Fix.

SC Ventures is the venture capital arm of Standard Chartered Bank. The company serves as a platform from which Standard Chartered can identify innovative technologies in banking and financial services, and invest in the companies that build these technologies and business models. Besides investments, SC Ventures also operates an accelerator program named eXellerator and an internal venture builder unit. As an investor, SC Ventures focuses on Series B+ rounds, with each investment at the $1-5m range.

Founded by Wu Shichun in 2014, Plum Ventures is an internet-focused angel fund managing three RMB funds. Plum Ventures is listed among the top 10 angel investment firms in China, with each investment of RMB 2 million to 5 million.

Founded in 2011, Atom Ventures is a venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments in internet and mobile startups.  Atom Ventures was named “the Most Active Angel Investor in 2016” and “The Top 30 Angel Investors in China”.

Founded and headed by Susan Choe in 2018, Katalyst Ventures is based in San Francisco with a debut fund of $34m raised in 2018. Choe is also a partner at another Zipline investor Visionnaire Ventures (VV) also based in Silicon Valley. Katalyst invests in seed and early-stage tech startups with human-centric solutions. About 45% of the VC funds are invested in startups with women as CEO or CTO.  By February 2020, the Kalatyst portfolio included 22 enterprises and three exits.The founder of Outspark was removed as CEO by the board of directors due to disagreements over the sale of Outspark. She had used her own money in 2006 to create Outspark, a data-driven publishing platform for game developers. Outspark was eventually sold to Axel Springer and Choe went left the company to join Taizo Son’s venture capital group. In 2013, VV was set up to support tech startups in the US. Choe had worked for Yahoo! and also was the COO of the public-listed holding company of South Korean search and media company NHN.

Samsung Venture Investment, or Samsung Ventures, is the VC investment arm of South Korean diversified conglomerate Samsung Group. It is a separate entity from Samsung NEXT.Samsung Ventures primarily invests in semiconductors, telecommunications tech, software and internet companies, as well as biotechnology and medical companies. The VC is built to support new innovations that can lead to further improvements in Samsung’s existing businesses, which includes smartphones, home appliances, and components like OLED panels and Li-ion batteries.Samsung Ventures has invested in healthcare and wellness tech companies like Indonesia’s telehealth service Alodokter, posture correction device makers Posture360, and Noom, an app for dieting and exercise. In the sensors front, Samsung Ventures has invested in Sense Photonics, a startup creating 3D computer vision based on lidar for industrial and automotive (self-driving) purposes. Besides these companies, Samsung Ventures has also invested in insurtech companies and even gaming companies, such as Pokémon Go developer Niantic.

CEO and founder of ScentRealm, Huang Jianwei worked at Alibaba from 2004 to 2011. In 2012, he founded ScentRealm and received seed funding from Wang Gang. He also tried to create a business around QR codes, then tried to build an internet finance business. The latter was a success for a while, but Huang decided to shut it down. In 2015, he pivoted the company to build ScentRealm. 

The co-founder and CEO of NutraSign Abraham Gómez Toro is passionate about creating apps for good causes. His road safety app "Watch Out" won him a scholarship at an international design competition "Creative Diary 2013" run by the Institute of European Design (IED).Originally from Venezuela, he studied graphic design at IED Madrid in 2014 and completed a master’s course at the Animum Creativity Advanced School in Malaga in 2018. Based in Madrid, he also works as a creative director at nutri-holistic products company Biomol Care SL and as a visual designer for e-learning site Banana Exams.

C4 Ventures was founded by Pascal Cagni, former VP and GM of Apple EMEIA. With offices in Paris and London, the firm invests in early-stage startups across market segments in Europe. The VC also supports later-stage companies interested in expanding into Europe. It currently has 33 startups in its portfolio with principal interests in sectors like hardware, digital media and the future of commerce and work.Recent investments in 2021 include the $54m Series B round of Austrian refurbished electronics goods marketplace Refurbed in August and the $5m seed round in June of Norbert Health, the French producers of the first ambient scanner that can measure vital signs.

Co-founded by Angel Asin, Yago Perrin and Yago Arbeloa in 2000, Viriditas Ventures is an angel investment firm that provides funds for tech startups in the IT related sector. Viriditas Ventures invests in early-stage startups and helps entrepreneurs get to the next funding stage.

BW Ventures was established in February 2015 by Xu Min. The firm has offices in Beijing and Shanghai. BW Ventures' angel investments usually range from RMB 500,000 to 1,500,000.

A Linz-based pre-seed investor founded in 2015, the company currently has 17 companies in its portfolio. Its interests span market verticals and technologies, with tech and non-tech startups supported, and varied geographical locations across Europe. It also runs an online learning lab for startups called Zero21. Its most recent investments include the €2m seed round of Austrian second-hand electronics marketplace refurbed and the €300,000 pre-seed round of German interview platform-as-a-service LAMA. 

Anthill Ventures is an accelerator VC firm that provides early stage investments and support services for pre-Series A startups to facilitate rapid growth based on a proprietary “Scalability Quotient” score. Based on 108 parameters, the SQ score is used by Anthill Ventures to evaluate a startup’s potential for quick scalability.

UNIQA Ventures is the venture capital arm of the UNIQA Group, a leading insurance entity headquartered in Austria and operating also across Central and Eastern Europe. With about 40 companies in 18 countries, the UNIQA group serves about 15.5 million customers. UNIQA Ventures' investment focus is in insurtech, fintech and digital health care.
