Welight Capital was founded by former senior executive at Tencent Wu Xiaoguang in 2015. The firm invests mainly in early-stage startups in the sectors of IoT, corporate services, finance, education, consumption upgrade, retail and e-commerce.

Purple Bull Startups was founded by Cheetah Mobile CEO Fu Sheng and former China Central Television news anchor Zhang Quanling in September 2015. It invests in early-stage tech startups. Guangkong Zhongying Capital was founded in August 2016 by China Everbright, a state-owned enterprise that engages mainly in banking, securities, insurance and investment management, and Focus Media, the operator of the largest out-of-home advertising network in China. It invests mainly in the sectors of consumption upgrade, recreation, corporate services, fintech and artificial intelligence.

Founded in 2015, Xin Ding Capital makes equity, pre-IPO and overseas investments. It also provides consultation services to startups in the biomedicine, new energy vehicle, chip and semiconductor manufacturing and artificial intelligence sectors that want to get listed on the National Equities Exchange and Quotations, a Chinese over-the-counter system for trading shares of public limited companies. As of May 2018, Xin Ding Capital has invested nearly RMB 2 billion in over 30 projects.

Kinzon Capital was co-founded by several former senior executives of Fosun Kinzon Capital (now called Fosun RZ Capital) in 2016. It invests primarily in early- and growth-stage TMT companies from China and the US. Kinzon Capital has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Silicon Valley and has invested RMB 2 billion in potential companies.

Backed by Israeli-Russian billionaire Yuri Milner, Apoletto Asia is managed by Russia’s DST Global, a VC firm that funds late-stage internet startups.

With offices in Beijing and Hong Kong, Primavera Capital Group focuses on private equity investment and helps businesses with corporate restructuring and non-performing assets handling. It was founded in 2010 by Fred Hu (Hu Zuliu), who worked at Goldman Sachs from 1997–2010 and served as the bank’s chairman for Greater China from 2008–2010.

Born in 1973, Li graduated from the School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China in 1997. After graduating, he worked as an IT journalist for China Youth Daily, where he interviewed tech giants such as Jack Ma. In early 2003, Li became chief editor of the IT section of web portal Sohu and then joined web portal NetEase as chief editor of its IT section later that year. In 2005, he resigned from NetEase and founded gaming portal Duowan. In 2008, Li founded YY Inc., a live streaming social media platform that went public on Nasdaq in 2012.

Fu was born in Jiangxi province in March 1978. In 2005, he led a team that created free antivirus software Qihoo 360 Security Guard. In 2008, he became vice president at Matrix Partners China. A year later, Fu became CEO and chairman of picture software firm Conew Image, which merged with Kingsoft Security in November 2010 to create Kingsoft Network. Fu has served as CEO of the merged company ever since, which, in March 2014, was renamed Cheetah Mobile. He is also founder and general partner at Purple Cow Startups.

Born in Shanghai in 1973, Zhang and his parents immigrated to the US in 1987. He received his bachelor’s in Neurobiology from the University of California, San Francisco in 1995 and his master’s in Biotechnology and Business from Northwestern University in 1999. Zhang worked at Salomon Smith Barney and ABN AMRO Capital from 1999–2001. He then served as managing director and head of China operations at venture capital firm WI Harper Group from 2002–2008. Zhang has since served as founding managing partner at Matrix Partners China.
