Founded in October 1995, CITIC Securities is China's first securities company listed in Shanghai and the Hong Kong. CITIC is its major shareholder, with 15.47% stake in it. The company provides services from securities trading, brokerage, asset management to investment banking. In 2013, CITIC Securities acquired CLSA to extend its international businesses. With branches in 13 countries and regions, it now has over 40,000 business clients and more than 10.3m individual customers home and abroad.

Founded in 2019, Wens Capital is an independent business unit responsible for investment and M&A under Guangdong Wens Food Group which went public on Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 2015. Through two subsidiaries Wens Investment and Wens Equity Investment, it currently manages about RMB 10bn worth of assets and has invested in more than 50 companies. It mainly invests in military projects and companies from sectors of environmental protection, healthcare and TMT. 

Founded in 2013, Sino-Ocean Capital is the investment arm of the Chinese real estate developer Sino-Ocean Group. It mainly invests in the sectors of big data, healthcare, logistics, environmental protection, real estate and finance. It currently manages RMB 50bn worth assets and $700m US dollar funds. The limited partners include insurance companies, large-sized enterprises and sovereign wealth funds.In 2019, Sino-Ocean Capital launched a RMB 3-5bn fund to acquire logistics properties and planned to invest RMB 48bn in logistics over the next five years. It also on the track to raise $1.5bn for its latest real estate fund to invest in offices in Beijing. 

With the aim of supporting Hong Kong to develop into a world-class tech innovation center and cooperating with Guangdong and Macau enterprises to support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, large-sized mainland enterprises operating in Hong Kong, Hong Kong companies, mainland private firms and new economy enterprises initiated Greater Bay Area Homeland Development Fund in 2018. With a total capital volume of over HK$100bn, it is managed by Greater Bay Area Homeland Investments. The fund will also provide help to enterprises in the Greater Bay Area to export products to overseas markets.

With the approval of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, BOC International (China) Limited was established in February 2002. It is jointly controlled by BOC International Holdings Limited, China National Petroleum Corporation, State Development & Investment Corporation, Hongta Tobacco Group Corporation, China General Technology (Group) Holding Limited, and Shanghai State-owned Assets Operation Corporation. Headquartered in Shanghai, BOC International (China) Limited has 115 branches in over 80 Chinese cities including Beijing and Shenzhen. BOC International (China) Limited engages in PE investment, alternative investment and futures business through its wholly-owned subsidiaries including BOC International Investment Co., Ltd. It also collaborates with BOC International Holdings Limited, which was established by Bank of China in Hong Kong in 1998, for marketing, risk management, and other business. BOC International (China) Limited went public on Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2020.

Founded in 2017, Shenzhen Yueke Xintai is a VC firm under the state-owned Technology Financial Group. Founded in 1992, Technology Financial Group began currently manages nine FOFs and 78 other funds, worth RMB 50bn in total. It has provided funding service to over 2,000 tech companies and helped more than 60 businesses go public. 

Deutsche Telekom is Germany's largest telecoms company, with operations in over 50 countries and more than 178 million mobile customers. It is a major investor in tech companies and has managed more than 20 investments and seven acquisitions to date. Its most well-known acquisition is teleco operator T-Mobile for €828m in 2014. Recent investments include HypeLabs' US$3m seed round and the €6m Series A round of automated IoT platform Axonise.

AngelPad is a New York and San Francisco-based accelerator program for seed-stage companies. Established in 2010, AngelPad has been ranked by MIT and others as the number one acceleration program in the US. It has invested in more than 150 companies, with recent investments in HypeLabs from Portugal and the US$4.5m seed round of local autonomous logistics vehicle maker Gatik.

BayWa Venture GmbH is a subsidiary company of BayWa AG, the German agriculture, energy and construction conglomerate.Putting digitalization at the core of its agriculture strategy, the company is looking to expand its core business into digital services within the existing businesses. It is investigating new digital business models and stand-alone concepts through collaboration with emerging startups focusing on cutting-edge technologies in the agrifood tech space.BayWa started to invest in startups in 2012 mainly focused on online customer management, services and sales platforms. In 2015, the company purchased Farm Facts, a German farm management SaaS and in 2017 invested in Abundant Robotics, a US-based automated harvest company. One of the firms’ most recent investments has been Evja, an Italian startup developing precision farming hardware based on advanced agronomic models and machine learning technology.

Owned by French investment group Eurazeo, Idinvest Partners was founded in 1997 in Paris, France, as AGF Private Equity and operated as part of German multinational Allianz until 2010, when it became an independent entity. With additional offices in Madrid, Frankfurt, Shanghai and Dubai, Idinvest manages €8bn in assets and has invested in around 4,000 companies, with 75 exits. It specializes in private equity and venture capital financing of European small and mid-size startups and has been named Best Private Equity Team by Deloitte in its 2012 Technology Fast 50 Awards. The company was acquired by Eurazeo in April 2018. 

Subtraction Capital is a VC founded by managing partner Jason Portnoy who was previously VP of Financial Planning and Analysis at PayPal Inc.Portnoy supports portfolio companies in their scale-up and hyper-growth stage, working with their CEOs to raise capital, navigate complex negotiations, build and manage teams. The firm typically invests in SaaS startups in the San Francisco Bay Area and Salt Lake City.

Paul Allen was an American business magnate and investor. Best known as Microsoft Corporation co-founder with his childhood friend Bill Gates, he left the company after eight years after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease. Allen died in 2018 at the age of 65, with a net worth of $20.3bn.His multibillion-dollar investment arm Vulcan Capital has backed tech startups around the world, including Spotify, Alibaba Group and Flipkart. Allen also owned the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and has a stake in the Seattle Sounders soccer team. He also donated over $2bn to philanthropic initiatives.

Toyota Tsusho Corp is a multi-market, multi-business listed company, focusing on industrial raw materials, agricultural products and technology. It is part of the Toyota Group with over 150 offices and 900 subsidiaries and affiliates around the world. Its diverse businesses span across the industrial, commercial and consumer sectors.In 2018, Toyota Tsusho and Microsoft started a partnership to build fish-farming tools using AI, IoT technologies and Microsoft Azure applications for improved water management. It also became Zipline’s first business investor to help expand the Silicon Valley unicorn’s drone operations to deliver lifesaving medical supplies to remote parts of the world.

Based in New York City, Lerer Hippeau mainly invests in seed and early-stage startups based in the US. Founded in 2010 by managing partners Kenneth Lerer, Ben Lerer and Eric Hippeau, the VC operates several funds offering initial investments of $1m per startup. Kenneth Lerer is the co-founder of Huffington Post and longtime chairman of BuzzFeed. Hippeau was the CEO of Huffington Post and ex-managing partner of Softbank Capital that invested in Huffington Post.Its 400+ startups also get support for business growth by tapping into tech ecosystems like New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Its 80+ exits include Giphy (GIF) that was acquired by Facebook and home-fitness studio Mirror acquired by Lululemon. However, the IPO by portfolio company Bed-in-a-box online retailer Casper was below market expectations. The loss-making e-commerce unicorn went public at $12 a share in February 2020, closing at $13.50 on its first day out, for a market capitalization of less than half the $1.1 billion Casper was valued at in a private funding round in 2019.
