Formerly known as hoopCHINA.com, Hupu is a sports news portal founded by Yang Bing and Cheng Hang at the end of 2003. Its business has expanded to include social networking, e-commerce and sports marketing. In June 2019, Hupu raised RMB1.26 billion in its pre-IPO funding round from ByteDance, TikTok's parent company. Hupu has incubated e-marketplace for trending sports gears Shihuo and sneakers resale platform Poizon. The latter became an independent business as a spin-off from Hupu in 2018. Poizon became a unicorn when its valuation exceeded US$1 billion in April 2019 due to a Series A funding round led by DST Global.

Based in the US and Spain, Gerard Martret is a member of Founders Network in San Francisco. After graduating from the University of Barcelona in 2000, he and his brothers established a mobility venture builder Camina Lab in New York. In 2001, they also co-founded two businesses in Barcelona: on-demand driving service Drivania Chauffeurs and Bhagna Innovation, a communication agency that ceased operations in 2011. Psquared is a spin-off of startup innovation hub CoBuilder, founded one year earlier and which Araujo co-founded. He has several other roles. Since 2020, he is a co-founder at startup development agency We Are Grit and advisor of a talent agency for Latin Americans in Spain, Base España. He is also an investor and advisor at e-commerce recruitment agency RSV Outsourcing. Araujo also holds part-time educational roles, speaking on innovation at Barcelona’s ESADE institution to MBA students and as a mentor at Mexico’s chapter of the MassChallenge accelerator. Earlier, Araujo worked as a business advisor to the digital agency JustDigital, and was co-founder and sales director at the digital talent agency Bandit, for a year. Before that, from 2012–2016, he was CSO and co-founder of Barcelona-based startup Nubelo – a tech recruitment agency for freelancers – until it was acquired by Freelancer.com. Prior to this, Araujo worked for two years as a business researcher at JP Morgan Chase and for almost two years at West Side Consultants, both in Argentina. Doddy Lukito has over 19 years of experience in both corporate management and technology roles. After earning a master's in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, he worked at New York based software company TenFold between 1999 and 2003. Doddy later returned to Indonesia, joining software consulting firm infinITechnology and International Investment Communication Network. He also had a brief lecturing stint at Universitas Bina Nusantara. Doddy had previously co-founded Bistip, a peer-to-peer courier service startup, after which he joined pharmaceutical conglomerate Mensa Group through doctors-only social media LinkDokter, which was later the basis for healthcare platform Halodoc.
