Headquartered in Hong Kong, Summer Capital was founded by senior UBS banker Joseph Chee in 2015. Focused on both public and private investments, it mainly invests in sectors of healthcare, consumer products, education, logistics and fintech. 

Yingke PE was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Shanghai. By the end of 2020, it had managed assets worth nearly RMB 50bn. Alibaba provides internet infrastructure and marketing platforms for businesses and brands globally to connect with their consumers. Its core businesses include e-commerce, cloud computing, and digital media and entertainment, as it increasingly identifies itself as a data company, rather than as an e-retailer. It is also engaged in building ecosystems of logistics and local services through its invested companies. 

One of Silicon Valley's most prestigious venture capital firms, Sequoia Capital, was established in 1972. Sequoia’s investment thesis leads them to invest primarily in early-stage companies, but they have also invested in Series F rounds and beyond. As a former venture capital firm, it has also made exits from major internet companies, such as Google, Apple, Nvidia, and GitHub. Sequoia Capital operates divisions in Israel, Hong Kong and Mainland China. It also acquired India-based VC Westbridge to form Sequoia Capital India.

Established in 2003, Indonusa Dwitama is a holding company that manages and develops a range of investment portfolios in Indonesia, including mining, financial services and information technology. Visa is a US-based financial services company best known for its electronic payment system used worldwide for credit and debit cards. As the operator of the payment service, it also provides security and risk management solutions. It is listed in the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker code V.The firm prefers to invest and partner with innovative early-stage firms in the payments, fintech and emerging technology spaces to advance Visa's strategic and financial objectives. Some of its investments include Indonesian ride-hailing and payment super-app Gojek, cybersecurity firms MagicCube and LoginID, payment platforms Klarna and Flutterwave, as well as digital banking platform Greenwood Bank.

The owner of WeChat, Tencent is China's biggest online entertainment and social network company. While the company is best known for QQ and WeChat (with 846m active users, and counting), online gaming is actually its biggest money-spinner. Within China, Tencent is the distributor of various international online game titles, such as League of Legends and Call of Duty Online. The company also publishes Honor of Kings, known as Arena of Valor outside China, which regularly tops the list of highest-grossing mobile games globally.Tencent has invested in various gaming-related companies, including Epic Games (creator of Fortnite and the Unreal Engine creation framework), PlatinumGames (Japanese game developer), and Riot Games (creator of League of Legends). Founded in 1976, KKR is an American private equity firm headquartered in New York City, USA. The company currently oversees investment opportunities in various industries in America, Europe and Asia, ranging from venture capital to hedge funds. As of March 2021, it has $367bn assets under management, with more than 100 companies in their investment portfolio.Its investment portfolio in Asia-Pacific includes major corporations like Panasonic, COFCO Meat and GenesisCare, as well as startups like Gojek. Elsewhere, it has invested in companies like ride-hailing startup Lyft (which has gone for an IPO), historic guitar maker Gibson, and combat sport broadcasting company UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship).

The merged entity of China’s two largest local services rivals, Meituan has a market cap of HKD 1.93tn in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, where it is listed. Its total transaction volume reached RMB 682bn in 2019. In 2015, Meituan merged with Chinese rival Dianping and was known as Meituan-Dianping, but the brand has since been unified to Meituan. Now headed by Meituan founder Wang Xing, the Tencent-backed company is China’s largest on-demand, or O2O (online-to-offline), services provider, offering food delivery, restaurant booking, group buying, movie ticket booking and more.

Since its founding in 1972, American venture capital firm Sequoia Capital has partnered with the founders of companies that now have an aggregate, public market value of over $1.4tn. Sequoia Capital acquired Indian venture capital firm Westbridge Capital Partners in 2006, and later became the foundation for Sequoia Capital India. Sequoia Capital India focuses primarily in India and Southeast Asia. It has invested in many major tech companies in the region, including Indian edtech firm Byju’s, budget accommodation network OYO, and Indonesian ride-hailing unicorn Gojek. In 2019, it launched Surge, an accelerator program for early-stage startups in Southeast Asia and India.

The late-stage venture capital and growth equity firm founded and led by Russian billionaire Yuri Milner manages about $10bn in assets. Among its well-known investments are Facebook, Twitter, Alibaba, Xiaomi, JD.com, Spotify, Flipkart and AirBnB.DST Global was founded in 2009 as a means for Milner’s Mail.ru to continue investing at scale, by separately managing investment activities from the Mail.ru primary business. In 2012, Milner stepped down from Mail.ru to focus on DST Global, and DST Global eventually became fully independent from Mail.ru.
