In 2013, it helped to recover parts of two engines from the Atlantic Ocean that were later identified as belonging to Apollo 11, the first space mission that successfully landed humans on the moon in 1969. The crew of the ship Seabed Worker spent three weeks at sea pulling up pieces of the Apollo F1 engines.

After working in the finance industry, he founded an Islamic finance and marketing consulting company in 2004. In 2011, he co-founded the Paramadina Islamic Management Institute (PIMI). He co-founded FAST8, a human resources tech company, in 2008 with his wife, Afia Fitriati. They also founded Gadjian, an HR management SaaS startup. Today, Else is also a lecturer at Paramadina University and a member of Sharia Supervisory Board for four companies.

Núria Pastor is the CEO and co-founder of HumanITcare, a telemedicine platform for remote patient monitoring using real-world data and AI to treat patients affected by chronic diseases and also to accelerate drug development and clinical trials. Under the helm of Pastor the startup has doubled its user base and is poised to become a leading player in digital health. Pastor holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Barcelona and a Masters in Research in neuroscience from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Prior to HumanITcare, she worked as a researcher at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and the University of Barcelona. She has also worked as Business Analyst in EIT Health and has mentored at the European Commission.

One of his ongoing research projects primarily deals with the conversion of agricultural waste into biochar, a form of charcoal that can act as a feedstock for making activated carbon and for sequestering carbon.In 2017, Kwong and two PhD students in his research group, Ben Morton and Lewis Dunnigan, began commercialization of the waste-to-activated carbon technology they had developed. A spin-off company called Bygen was established, with Dunnigan and Morton leading the startup. Kwong is a co-founder and technical advisor of the company.

He was also an editor from 2012–2017 at the Journal of Technology Management & Innovation and worked at the non-profit PIPRA from 2010–2018 as international alliance manager in Sacramento, University of California.In 2015, he co-founded The Not Company (NotCo) based in Santiago. He was appointed CSO in February 2018, a role he led until March 2020, when he left the company to focus on a new project, AptaBuilder, a $60m program that promotes R&D for Chilean technology-based ventures. Zamora still consults as NotCo’s senior scientific advisor.
