Elevation China Capital (ECC) is an equity investment firm, with offices in Shenzhen, Shanghai and Silicon Valley. Founded in Beijing in June 2010 by managing partner Man Li, the VC focuses on investments in early-stage and high-growth stage tech companies.In August 2019, Shenzen's IGTech became its most recent investment as part of a seed funding worth RMB 10m. New York City’s largest accelerator program, founded in 2011, provides each accepted company with an initial $100,000 investment and the potential for follow-on funding from its fund. Co-founder of VUE Vlog, Yang Tao majored in Computer Science in Peking University. After a period of internship in Microsoft, he joined NetEase in 2009. However, in NetEase, the products that he was in charge of were marginalized. In 2011, he joined Wandoujia where he was first put in a cloud system project, then became the key developer of Wandoujia App Search and the Photo Sync Project. In 2014, he was promoted to be an engineer manager. He joined VUE as co-founder in 2016. 

Akbar Vahidi is an Iranian researcher turned entrepreneur based in Singapore. After graduating in 2010 with a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, he pursued a PhD in chemical and biomolecular engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Vahidi earned his PhD in 2015 and briefly worked as a research fellow at Nanyang Technological University before returning to NUS to pursue research.At NUS, he was a part of a research group that developed a new enzyme screening method based on microfluidics technology. With fellow NUS PhD graduate Peyman Salehian, Vahidi secured an exclusive license to use the technology and established Allozymes, a startup that offers enzyme engineering services. Vahidi became the CTO of Allozymes.

Dutch-born Rosa Goslinga has spent most of her career working in Africa and speaks five languages, including Swahili. She graduated in business, economics and international development at the University of Amsterdam in 2004. She also completed a master’s in political economy of development at the School for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London in 2005.In 2006, she worked as an economist at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources in Rwanda where she realized there was an urgent need for small-scale farming insurance to protect the local farmers’ livelihoods against natural hazards.In 2008, she joined Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) in Kenya, where she initiated a pilot Kilimo Salama in Nairobi as program director. The program was a success, starting with 185 farmers taking up index insurance and growing to be the largest in Africa with over 185,000 participants. Goslinga also met and started working with Thomas Njeru, the lead actuary for UAP Insurance for the Kilimo project.In 2013, with investors backing her project, she developed and patented a system and method for providing a site-related weather insurance contract. She left SFSA in 2014 and went on to set up Kenya’s pioneering insurtech Pula with Njeru as co-founder in 2015.Both are now co-CEOs of the Nairobi-based startup, education and helping over 4m small-scale farmers to protect their livelihoods from environmental hazards with tailor-made micro-finance and insurance products.

The one half of Indonesia’s startup power couple, Achmad Zaky founded Deft Technology, a mobile software and web development company; and Suitmedia, a digital agency; before founding BukaLapak. While studying at the Bandung Institute of Technology, he and BukaLapak co-founder Muhamad Fajrin Rasyid opened a noodle shop near their dorm. His wife is Diajeng Lestari, founder of online Islamic fashion mall HijUp.com. He was born in 1986 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

A graduate of University of Science & Technology of China and Cranfield University (UK), Jiang Xinlian’s work experience spans eight years in overseas sales support and product planning at Huawei and ZTE. He was born in the 1970s.

Xavier Sans Serra is the founder and CEO of payment and interactive chat app and IoT hardware startup Orain. He is based in Barcelona, where he has worked since 2016. Prior to this, he founded two other tech startups: Knowxel, which has been in operation from 2013 to 2016, and Neqta, which operated from 2011 to 2013. Knowxel was a social network for seeking skilled people for one-off work projects while Neqta was a research project to develop hardware to power portable devices. Both companies were developed at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, where the initial development of Orain also took place. Sans holds two master's degrees from Barcelona's Ramon Llull University: one in Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering and the other in Networks and Telecommunications. Between 2010 to 2012, he was a member of the Electromagnetism and Communications Research Group at Ramon Llull University's La Salle campus, where he was involved in a research project on geomagnetically-induced currents, which led to publications in scientific journals.

Xing Shanhu worked as a journalist before he joined Kingsoft in 1998 in a product marketing role. He began his career in the online gaming industry in 2002 when he co-founded Beijing Huanleshidai Technology where he served as the deputy general manager for the company’s day-to-day operations. In 2006, he developed and operated web games like XYZ and Perfect 3 Kingdoms. In 2008, he became VP of Kylin Games, responsible for operations of games like Genghis Khan OL. He became president of Kylin Games in 2010. In 2011, Xing founded Beijing Locojoy Technology to develop and operate iOS system-based games and web games. His company operated the game, I’m MT Online in 2012, which became a big hit in the game industry. His I’m MT series games had generated a total of $800m in revenue. In 2018, he founded Beijing Code View Technology, which launched Reworld in 2019.He also published several fiction novels at a young age.

Born in the 1970s, Sun Junqi has decades of experience as an entrepreneur, first in traditional industries, and more recently, in the catering sector. He co-founded Farmlink in 2014.

Iberis Capital is a Portuguese investor established in 2017. Currently with 10 investments with more than €100m under management, it invests in both tech and non-tech startups and in real estate. Iberis was founded by ex-partner at Oxy Capital Luís Quaresma and João Henriques, ex-CFO of Vodafone Portugal. One of its prominent portfolio companies is Australian medtech LBT Innovations that seeks to automate healthcare processes and, to date, has the only US Food and Drug Administration-cleared instrument leveraging AI in clinical microbiology. Its most recent investment was a participation in a €32m Series C investment round in December 2020 for Portugal-based international online print store, 360imprimir.

Edward Tirtanata is best known for establishing Kopi Kenangan, the popular grab-and-go coffee chain. Prior to that, however, the finance and accounting graduate from Northeastern University, USA, had established Lewis & Carroll, a premium establishment serving artisanal tea. Unfortunately, the brand struggled to grow among Indonesia's budget-conscious youths, who preferred the cheaper bubble tea. Learning from the experience, he decided to eschew the Starbucks-style “third home” retail concept and opted for grab-and-go stalls that are cheaper to establish, but without abandoning the quality of the coffee served. The concept proved to be a hit, and Tirtanata's new venture became a nationwide sensation.Aside from his role as CEO of Kopi Kenangan, Tirtanata is getting more deeply involved in the F&B startup ecosystem. In February 2020, he joined Gojek and startup ecosystem builder Digitaraya in establishing Digitarasa, a new accelerator program for F&B businesses.

Lewis Dunnigan is a researcher turned entrepreneur based in Australia. After earning a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and working as a researcher at the University of Edinburgh in the UK, Dunnigan returned to Australia. He had a brief stint as a visiting researcher and earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Adelaide.During his PhD, Dunnigan was a part of Philip Kwong’s research laboratory. His PhD project involved developing a system to generate activated charcoal and renewable energy from biomass. In 2017, Dunnigan, Kwong, and fellow PhD student Ben Morton decided to commercialize this technology and established a spin-off company called Bygen, which developed a low-cost, novel way to make activated carbon more sustainably using various forms of agricultural waste. Dunnigan is now the CEO of Bygen.

Ballesteros is one of Spain's most prominent serial entrepreneurs and business angels, and the man behind some of the most successful acquisitions in Spain and Latin America. Cabify, Woom Fertility and co-investments with Seaya Ventures form part of his investment portfolio. His first entrepreneurial experience started in 1997 with online classified ads platform Ocioteca.com and MundoSalud (acquired by Sanitas of Bupa Group). One of his biggest successes has been on-demand food delivery platforms, SinDelantal in Spain and SinDelantal Mexico, both acquired by Just Eat in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He is currently sole founder of Bewe SaaS for beauty and wellness professionals. 

Mauro Peixe has been the co-founder and CTO of Heptasense since 2016. The Portuguese national helped to build BPI's banking app when he worked as a software engineer at the major Portuguese bank based in Oporto. He has a master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Higher Technical Institute in Lisbon.
