GSA’s investments are mostly focused on technologies that can tackle climate change and global warming issues. As of December 2020, the firm has, directly and indirectly, contributed to saving more than 20,000 tones of CO2 and increased its emissions savings by 88% throughout the year.The fund has invested over £10m in startups in their early-stage and operating across 10 different sectors. Mario Fernández Marín is Co-founder of railway consultancy firm SigmaRail and is also its product manager. From 2004 to 2008, Fernández undertook internships at several Spanish and French enterprises including Unión Fenosa, Dusco-SesameTV, Groupe Assonance and IRCICA. He was a research engineer at the Polytechnic University of Madrid before joining Airbus in 2009, where he working at both its Paris and Madrid operations. He later became Lead Design Engineer at both Siemens and Thales for three years. Fernández is a telecommunications engineering graduate of the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The technology has been in development since 2017, though the company was formally launched in Madrid in April 2020. He has spent more than 15 years as a civil engineer, working in hydraulic and water treatment systems. He currently works on smart city initiatives on the Adapting Cities to Change program in Madrid and he lectures in Big Data, IoT, Data Services and Business in two Madrid institutions. Formerly from Google Singapore, Winston Utomo earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2012 and a Master of Science degree from Columbia University in 2014. Hailing from Surabaya, he was the president of USC Association of Indonesian Students during his studies at USC. Before co-founding the media company PT IDN Media in June 2014, Winston was a Senior Account Strategist at Google Singapore until October 2015. He was also a project manager at St. John Capital Management in 2012.Besides being the co-founder and CEO of IDN Media, he is also the Editor-in-Chief of IDN Media that owns IDNtimes.

The MBA graduate from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business ran a traditional Chinese medicine business from 1982 to 1987 in Zhangshu. A designer and branding specialist, Petr Báča was inspired to develop a smart vending solution to eliminate plastic packaging in supply chains while working with industry clients at Cocoon Prague, a branding and advertising agency he founded in 1996. In 2015, he set up MIWA Technologies in Prague, to realize his smart vending system into a business.
