Hailing from India, Sunil Rao left Google after six years in August 2014 to join an MBA program at NUS Business School. He also co-founded digital recruitment platform Astronaut Technologies in Singapore in August 2015 but exited after seven months to work at Microsoft as a Global Program Manager for Business Operations.

Kang Hongwen earned his doctoral degree in Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2006 to December 2012. Prior to that, he was a research intern for more than a year at Microsoft Research Asia, during which time he worked on video content analysis, video synthesis, and was part of a team that was awarded a US patent for spacetime montage. An algorithm he worked on was shipped into the Windows XP Media Center Edition. Kang subsequently interned at Intel Research Seattle and Microsoft Research Redmond. In December 2013, he founded Hunch.ai, the company that created the AI-based, cloud video platform Zen Video.   

Ex-Microsoft man Andhy Koesnandar had nearly five years of experience in Silicon Valley as a software engineer and development manager before launching his own startup, Cermati. He holds a bachelor’s in Computer Science and Mathematics and a master’s in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska. Andhy also has an MBA from the University of Washington.

A CEO with a technical background, Daniel Witono is an ex-Microsoft software engineer with more than five years of experience in the development field.A computer engineering graduate from the University of New South Wales in Australia, Daniel founded the Jurnal startup with Anthony Kosasih, a friend also from the University of New South Wales.

Shanghai Alliance Investment Ltd is a state-owned company founded in September 1994 under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Shanghai. It mainly engages in equity investment in hi-tech and modern services industry.It has invested over RMB 10bn in diverse sectors including information technology, biomedicine, new energy, environmental protection, new materials and financial services. In 2004, the company and Microsoft set up the joint venture Shanghai MSN Network Communications Technology Co Ltd that operates MSN China's website: msn.com.cn.

Another “haigui” (Chinese overseas returnee), Ben Luk (or Lu Yunsheng) had worked at Microsoft and Oracle before joining Google in 2003. At Google, he held different positions in the US global headquarters, and the Beijing and HK offices. Luk led the development of Google Maps APAC. He holds a BS in Computer Science, Cornell University; and an MS in Computer Engineering, Stanford University. 

Co-founder and CTO of Trio.AI. Qi has worked in the field of Natural Language Processing since 2004. After graduating with a master’s in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology Liaoning in 2007, he worked at Alibaba, Tencent, Microsoft and Baidu.As a technology initiator, he helped with the development of Microsoft’s chatbot XiaoIce in 2014 and Baidu’s Xiaodu robot in 2015.

Co-founder and President of Chinapex. Tiger Yang attended high school in Singapore  and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Political Economy. Before co-founding Chinapex, Yang managed multiple internal data analytics projects for clients such as Microsoft. He was nominated for the “Innovative Leader of the Year Award” by China Internet Weekly in 2017.

Li Zhinan holds a joint master’s degree in Mobile Health from Peking University and the University of California, Los Angeles. He previously worked on R&D on the Bing search engine for Microsoft Research Asia. Li is currently a Mobile Health Committee member at the Chinese Research Hospital Association. In February 2015, he co-founded Sennotech in Shenzhen and has served as CTO ever since.

Pedro Gaspar received his Licentiate degree in Computer Engineering from the Higher Institute of Engineering of Lisbon in 2010, after which he joined Portuguese IT services firm Safira as a software engineer. He is currently a head of IT at 360imprimir, a startup he co-founded in 2013. Portuguese national Gaspar holds a qualification in application development in Microsoft SharePoint and is skilled in Java, JavaScript and C#.

Peng Bin graduated at Xidian University in Xi’an with a bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2004. After working at Microsoft China as an engineer for two years, the aeromodelling enthusiast started XAIRCRAFT in 2007 when he was 25 years old. The startup was renamed as XAG in 2014, with Peng as CEO. In 2020, Peng made it onto the Forbes China “40 Under 40” list.

An active and well-known angel investor in Spain and the US, Iñaki Berenguer was also co-founder and CEO at Klink (acquired by Thinkingphones) and Pixable (acquired by SingTel). He previously worked for MNCs like Hewlett Packard, STMicroelectronics, Pentium group of Intel and NEC Laboratories America. He spent two years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and as a manager in the Corporate Strategy Group of Microsoft.Originally from Valencia, but now based in New York, Berenguer is currently co-founder and CEO of Coverwallet.

With a special interest in enterprise tech, Silicon Valley-based Omega Venture Partners has 25 startups in its portfolio and, to date, has invested from pre-seed to Series E stages. It has managed eight exits to date. Its most recent investments were in the 2020 $55m Series B round of US-based small business management platform ZenBusiness and in the February 2021 $50m Series B round of US voice transcription software Otter.ai. The investor boasts an extensive network of major corporations as advisors and partners including Google, Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, SAP and CitiGroup.  

Founder and CEO of Chinapex. Jimmy Hu graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences. Before founding Chinapex, Hu built internal marketing analytics for clients such as Microsoft and was the China and Asia big data and AI market advisor for the Gerson Lehrman Group, among other US financial institutions. In March 2017, Hu was included in the “Forbes China 30 Under 30” list.

Hao graduated from Peking University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2013 and received his master’s degree in the same subject from Waseda University in 2015. He worked as an intern and software engineer at Microsoft Research Asia from February 2015 to December 2017. Hao co-founded aiXcoder in March 2017 and has been working full time for the startup since January 2018. He currently serves as CTO.
