Founded in 2003, Hina Group is an investment bank that provides financial consulting services. It has helped more than 180 companies close their funding and perform M&As. The total value of these transactions is US$56 billion. Hina Group oversaw Alibaba’s acquisition of Ele.me and the merger Qunar.com and Ctrip. Hina Group manages over RMB 10 billion. It has invested in unicorns such as Hujiang.com and Youbao.

Renhe Group was founded in Jiangxi Province by Yang Wenlong in 2001. The group, including its flagship listed Renhe Pharmacy, earned total sales revenue of RMB 11.23bn in 2018 with a year-on-year profit growth of 25%. The group comprises 20 subsidiaries dealing in cosmetics, household chemicals, pharmaceutical, medical supplies and equipment.

A Linz-based pre-seed investor founded in 2015, the company currently has 17 companies in its portfolio. Its interests span market verticals and technologies, with tech and non-tech startups supported, and varied geographical locations across Europe. It also runs an online learning lab for startups called Zero21. Its most recent investments include the €2m seed round of Austrian second-hand electronics marketplace refurbed and the €300,000 pre-seed round of German interview platform-as-a-service LAMA. 

Founded in Boston in 2015, Material Impact is a science-based investment fund backing products that make an impact on real-world problems. It currently has 10 companies in its portfolio, from seed to Series C investments. Its most recent investments have been in the $50m 2020 Series C round of SOURCE Global (formerly Zero Mass Water), the premier off-grid drinking water production tech using solar-powered panels, and in the 2020 $12m Series A round of  US electronics protective substance producer actnano.

Bånt AB is the investment vehicle of Karl Sverker Forsén based in Luleå, a coastal city in Swedish Lapland. In May 2020, the Swedish family office invested in a Gothenburg startup Mycorena, a biotech that produces mycoproteins through fermentation. The fungi-based protein can be used as an alt-protein ingredient instead of traditional plant-based food components.

Pedro Trinité is the co-founder of ZUVINOVA, a B2B company that owns and operates Transactional Track Record (TTR). The premium online service provides transactional and financial information on Latin American and Iberian markets (M&A, Capital Markets, Project Finance and Acquisition Finance). Before ZUVINOVA, he was a director at Iberpartners and a business consultant for Accenture UK. Trinité received his International MBA degree from IE Business School and his master’s degree in Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior de Informática e Gestão (ISIG). He also attended the Wharton Global Consulting Practicum at the University of Pennsylvania.

Ideabox Ventures is a VC launched by Indonesian telecoms Indosat Ooredoo, Kejora Ventures and Mountain Partners SEA in November 2016. The VC was an addition to the existing annual accelerator Ideabox program that had nurtured startups like Dealoka, Pawoon and Wobe. More venture capital is expected to come from new partnerships with global institutions in Asia, Europe and North America. Early stage or pre-Series A funding of up to US$500,000 will be awarded to each startup, as well as strategic commercial consultancy and support services to boost the expansion of the VC’s portfolio firms.

Founded in 2011, StartUp Health is a New-York based accelerator. Chaired by former Time Warner CEO Jerry Levin, the platform is reputed to have the world’s largest portfolio of digital health companies spanning 12 countries. StartUp Health also runs the StartUp Health Academy, StartUp Health Network, StartUp Health Ventures and StartUp Health Media. Investment partners include Novartis, Ping An Group, Otsuka, Chiesi Group, Masimo and GuideWell, all of whom contributed to the US$31-million StartUp Health Transformer Fund II in 2018. StartUp Health has managed 15 exits and invested in more than 250 companies.

Nauta Capital is one of the oldest VC funds in Spain with offices in London, Munich and Barcelona. It focusses its investment on SaaS companies in Europe and the US east-coast, but the firm’s portfolio includes startups specialized in cyber security, retail, HR, marketplace and platform, marketing and social intelligence as well as big data and analytics.The firm usually participates in Series A rounds from €500,000 to €7 million with an average ticket for first investments of between €1 million and €3 million. Nauta Capital occasionally invests in late-seed and Series B rounds.

Founded in 1969, Hong Kong-based Sun Hung Kai & Co is an investment company listed in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Its founder, Fung King-hey, is also the co-founder of Sun Hung Kai Properties. It invests mainly in finance, fintech, health insurance, media and technology sectors. The company has about HKD 43bn in assets and is the main shareholder of UA Finance and Everbright Sun Hung Kai.

Founded in 2016, Berlin-based investor BlueYard invests in startups aiming to tackle the planet’s greatest challenges. It typically makes $1m–3m as an initial investment and has no geographical bias. Its most recent investments include in the March 2021 $48m Series A round of Dutch cell-based meat startup Meatable which leverages pluripotent stem cells for the first time in foodtech and in the February 2021 $4m seed round of Next Matter, a German Open Source automation tool for operations teams.

Founded in 2003 in New York, Vast Ventures has invested in over 70 early-stage companies, with a focus on companies tackling global problems or which are rooted in sustainability. It has managed 22 exits to date. It currently has 45 companies in its portfolio, the overwhelming majority of which are based in the Americas. Its most recent investments include participation in the May 2021 $8m seed round for Chilean rental management proptech player Houm, as well as the April 2021 $17m Series A round of MedChart, a Canadian healthcare data systems startup.

Xora Innovation is a subsidiary of the Singapore sovereign investment fund, Temasek. It was established as an early-stage deeptech investment platform that identifies startups connected with the Singapore science and technology ecosystem (although the startup can be based anywhere in the world). Xora plans to invest as a lead or co-lead in seed or Series A rounds, with later-stage investments being handled through Temasek. As of July 2021, Xora has invested in two companies based in Singapore: Allozymes, which provides enzyme engineering services, and Nuevocor, which is developing gene therapy for certain heart diseases.

A famous angel investor in the healthcare sector, Shao Hui founded Youxiang, the first cross-border medical tourism player in China in 2006, targeting the Chinese upper class.  In 2001, he participated in the venture-stage funding of Beijing Nanshan Ski Village, now the most popular ski village in China.

The venture arm of American cloud computing company Salesforce has invested in more than 150 companies since 2009.
