The owner of WeChat, Tencent is China's biggest online entertainment and social network company. While the company is best known for QQ and WeChat (with 846m active users, and counting), online gaming is actually its biggest money-spinner. Within China, Tencent is the distributor of various international online game titles, such as League of Legends and Call of Duty Online. The company also publishes Honor of Kings, known as Arena of Valor outside China, which regularly tops the list of highest-grossing mobile games globally.Tencent has invested in various gaming-related companies, including Epic Games (creator of Fortnite and the Unreal Engine creation framework), PlatinumGames (Japanese game developer), and Riot Games (creator of League of Legends). Outside of video games, it has developed and invested in products related to video streaming, such as bilibili and Kuaishou, music (JOOX), and even healthcare.

Yunqi Partners was founded in 2014. It currently manages one USD fund and two RMB funds, which add up to about RMB 2 billion worth. The Yunqi team come from a range of sectors: TMT, mobile phone accessory manufacturing, financial services, advertising and video entertainment. Some are senior managers formerly from Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu and Focus Media.

Former EVP of Tencent and former CEO of Tencent e-commerce, Wu Xiaoguang graduated with a degree in Synoptic Meteorology from Nanjing University in 1996, and joined Tencent in 1999 as its founding team member. In June 2015, Wu resigned as CEO of Tencent e-commerce and remained as its senior management consultant. Wu is now an angel investor and founded Welight VC in 2015.

Founded by Tencent co-founder Zeng Liqing in 2007, Decent Capital had invested in some 150 companies as of mid-2017. With its roots in Tencent, Decent Capital tends to favor Tencent alumni-entrepreneurs in its investments.

Founded in 2015 by former vice president of Tencent and GM of Tencent M&A, Richard Peng (Peng Zhijian), and former vice GM of Tencent M&A, Kurt Xu, Genesis Capital specializes in growth stage investment of internet startups in China and the US.

Wang Lianghu graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a master's degree in 2011. He then joined Tencent and worked as a T3-level engineer. During his four years at Tencent, he focused on the design and R&D of Qzone (a Myspace-like blogging platform). After leaving Tencent, he co-founded Xiaoe Tech in 2016.

Former expert product manager at Tencent, credited for having built QQ’s security product system. Qin was also senior lecturer at Tencent College. He owns nearly 30 Chinese patents and 2 international patents.

A former Tencent and Baidu product manager, Jiang Qing graduated from the University of Electronic Science and Technology. He was a senior product manager at Tencent and a product manager at Baidu.

China Literature was founded in March 2015 by merging Tencent Literature and Shanda Literature. It went public on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong in November 2017. It owns online reading brand Qidian.com and acquired film and television production company New Classic Media in August 2018. It focuses on building a premium e-reading platform at home and abroad while seeking business opportunities in the adaptation of its copyrighted literary works into film and television productions, comics and animation and video games. As at late June 2019, there are over 11.7m pieces of literary works in its online library.

Bao Chunjian graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2006 with a master’s degree in Computer Science. He then joined Tencent where he worked for nine years on the R&D of major data-related technologies rising to the level of a T4 expert engineer (the highest title an engineer can achieve in Tencent).  In 2015, Bao Chunjian recruited a few former Tencent employees and founded a startup to help blue-collar workers find jobs but that business failed in 2016.  He then started Xiaoe Tech.

Danhe Capital is the investment fund established by Chen Yidan, a Chinese internet entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is a co-founder of Tencent.

Born in 1987 in Liaoning Province, Bi Yu worked as a senior security engineer at Tencent for four years. In March 2015, he left Tencent and joined Cheetah Mobile as a senior security technology manager in Taipei and the US.In January 2017, he founded cybersecurity firm Threat Hunter as CEO. The company was rebranded as EverSafe Online with a new logo in 2019. 

Formerly Operation Managing Director at Tencent, Wang Sijing co-founded Gengmei with Liu Di in 2013.
