Co-CEO and co-founder of Deep Solutions
Oscar Serra is a co-founder and co-CEO as well as a big-data scientist at Deep Solutions, a producer of deep neural network software for image recognition. He combines this role with a multi-disciplinary management role in his family's €15m-revenue industrial machinery company Serra Workshops, where he has worked since 2010. Prior to this, he worked at Honda Research Institute Europe in Germany as a software programmer for one year, and as a PhD researcher in computer vision, deep learning and neural networks at Barcelona's Institute of Robotics and Industrial Information Systems (IRI). Serra has a total of five Master's degrees: Programming, Robotics, Neuroscience, Computer Vision, and an MBA. Sanchez is a computer and data science expert with a master’s degree in innovation and research in informatics with specialization in advanced computing from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona (UPC). He also holds multiple certifications from the John Hopkins University School of Education. Sanchez is currently CTO and co-founder of HumanITcare, a telemedicine platform for remote patient monitoring using real-world data and AI to treat patients affected by chronic diseases and also to accelerate drug development and clinical trials. Prior to HumanITcare, Sanchez worked as Data Scientist in a joint-project between the Spanish insurance company Catalana Occidente and technology consultancy Raona to develop a sales collaborative platform. Kenyan-born Thomas Njeru co-founded insurtech Pula in 2015 and became its co-CEO in June 2017. Providing insurance to smallholder farmers was a key objective for Njeru, who grew up in a small farming community.After his education at Mangu High School, Njeru went on to graduate in actuarial science at the University of Nairobi in 2009. He became a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in December 2011. He also completed a CFA financial analysis qualification in 2015 and MBA from Strathmore Business School in 2018.He worked at UAP Insurance for almost four years before joining Deloitte in South Africa in 2012 as a consulting actuary. In 2014, he was promoted to become director of actuarial and insurance advisory. He left in 2018 to focus on his work at Pula as co-CEO.

Ben Morton is an Australian entrepreneur and a chemical engineer by training. After graduating in 2013, Morton briefly worked as a chemist at fertilizer company SprayGro. In 2016, he enrolled at the University of Adelaide to pursue a PhD in Chemical Engineering. There, he joined Philip Kwong’s research group and met fellow PhD student Lewis Dunnigan. Using technology they developed at the research group, in 2017 Morton, and Dunnigan established Bygen, a startup offering a low-cost, novel way process of making activated carbon using various forms of agricultural waste, with Kwong as a technical adviser and fellow co-founder. Morton is now CTO of Bygen.

Alberto Gordillo started his career in 1994 as a Spanish creative and art director specializing in animations, illustrations and VR experiences. He has over 23 years of industry experience, specializing in visual narrative, concept art, 3D content and virtual world-building. The young entrepreneur, from Ngawi Regency in East Java, invested IDR 50 million to launch Insan Medika in 2013. He became the CEO of the newly incorporated PT Insan Medika Persada in December 2015.
