Co-CEO and Co-founder of Notpla (formerly Skipping Rocks Lab)
Currently based in London, French national Pierre Yves Paslier completed a master’s in materials science and engineering from INSA in Lyon in 2010. In 2012, he went on to complete a master’s in industrial and product design at the Royal College of Art in London. He also studied innovation design engineering at Imperial College.After graduating in 2014, Paslier and university alumnus Rodrigo García González co-founded Skipping Rocks Lab that was pivoted as Notpla in 2019. Both are co-CEOs of the UK-based startup that develops compostable and edible packaging material made of seaweed and other plants.Before becoming an entrepreneur, Paslier worked as a packaging engineer for L’Oréal from 2010 to 2012. Former US investment banker Frank Wooten graduated in accounting and finance at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He also went on a study program in Madrid at Saint Louis University in 2002.After his graduation in 2003, he worked as managing director of CJS Securities in New York, a company that follows 100 underpriced stocks. In July 2008, he founded Point Blank Capital and became the managing partner of the financial services company based in Miami. In January 2016, he became the CFO and COO for Sao Paulo-based startup Squad, a platform that connects self-employed workers with companies.Wooten also met up with Jasper Holdsworth, a cattle rancher from New Zealand who was exploring the use of GPS tracking sensors to create a virtual fencing system for livestock management. In July 2016, Wooten became the CEO and co-founder of Vence Corp. The tech company designs and makes AI-enabled tracking devices like animal collars to help livestock owners reduce animal husbandry costs and improve the productivity of their pastureland.

Cofounder and CEO of VUE Vlog
Co-founder and CEO of VUE Vlog, Kuang Fei was so intrigued by design when he was studying electronics and communication engineering at the Harbin Institute of Technology that he spent most of his time doing part-time designing jobs. Upon graduation, he started his designing career at NetEase in 2007. However his career veered towards product management when, a year later, he joined Tencent in Allen Zhang's team (the team that later designed WeChat). In 2012, Kuang joined a startup, an Android app store called Wandoujia as Chief Product Officer. In late 2015, he left Wandoujia and, in 2016, started VUE with two colleagues, an app that both fits his interest in designing and experience in product.

He also works part-time as a strategic investor to data analysis company iaidō and is a non-executive chairman at construction insulation company PMP Manufacturing.Before Modulous, he was chief business development officer at gold fintech startup Glint for a year and established its US office. He previously worked as the managing director of Spiralite Ductwork in the area of building energy efficiency from 2010-17. Prior to this, all of his positions were in the finance and investment area: at 3i Group as Associated Director of Quoted Private Equity 2007-9; at the Electra Group as a senior associate of the EQMC Fund 2006-7; at consultancy Deloitte as an associate director of private equity transaction services 2004-6; at Orbis Investments 2001-4 working in investment analysis; and as Manager of Business Recovery Services at PwC in London 1996-2000. In 2016, he co-founded Vence Corp, a virtual fencing device manufacturer for livestock management. Currently based in UAE, Kurtz also founded Pure Harvest Smart Farms in Abu Dhabi. He is the CEO of the Middle East’s first commercial-scale, semi-automated, hybrid greenhouse growing system. Kurtz is also an advisor at e-commerce beauty startup Powder.ae and an entrepreneur-in-residence at Shorooq Investments.

Before Cocuus, he was a director at his building materials distribution company, On Clima, for two years, which was preceded by a two-year stint heading up Tohama, an IoT tech developer for Somfy products. Prior to that, he was commercial director for 20 years at building services company Terradisa and also founded its Catalonia offices.From 2000–2013, Larumbe was the founder and board member at Acustica Arquitectonica, an acoustic architectural design company and from 1995–2005, he had the same responsibilities at his hospitality company, Ostatu Zaharra. Other companies he founded were were Render (1990–96), Netcorp Factory (1996–2000) and No Solo Futbol ("Not Just Soccer") (2000–2004). Larumbe studied electronics at first degree level in Pamplona.

She left university in 2014 and co-founded Carbo Culture as CEO in 2016 with Carstens as CTO.In 2016, Moon also joined the electronics company Yleiselektroniikka as a board member, the youngest person in Finland to hold such a position in a listed company. Moon also founded edtech startup Mehackit in 2013 and became its chairwoman for four years. She exited both companies in 2018 to focus on running Carbo Culture.While at university, Moon also worked for over two years at Rails Girls, a not-for-profit for women in tech. In Finland, she joined the student entrepreneurship society in 2011 and completed an internship in 2010 at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. His last job was as a research strategist at New York-based New Harvest, a callular food rsearch funding body, where he worked for a year and met Dr. Kotter, the inventor of Meatable’s cellular technology. His research positions from 2009–15 were in the area of cell culture, mass spectrometry and DNA sequencing at the Maastricht University, University Medical Center Amsterdam, Utrecht University and Leiden University. Luining holds a master’s in biological sciences from Leiden University in the Netherlands.

Nour Akbaraly completed a master’s in engineering at Centrale Lille and also a master’s in applied mathematics at Lille University in 2010. In 2011, Akbaraly joined industrial manufacturing consultancy firm Avencore as a consultant in Paris.The avid photographer and F&B enthusiast also went to various tea-tasting classes at a tea specialist college until 2015. Passionate about gastronomy, he began exploring alt-protein alternatives to address the environmental and ethical challenges of food supply chains.In 2016, he went on an engineering training course for agronomy and agri-food at AgroSup Dijon, the National Institute of Agronomic, Food and Environmental Sciences.A year later, he founded Les Noveaux Affineurs, a startup specializing in plant-based alternatives to cheese. His ambition is to create a new range of French gastronomic vegan cheese products for consumers in France and overseas.Since 2010, Akbaraly is also a volunteer at the Action Contre la Faim, a Paris-based international NGO founded in 1979. The “Action Against Hunger” projects include running awareness campaigns on food security issues in colleges and schools in France and other countries like India and Sudan.
