Kang Hongwen earned his doctoral degree in Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2006 to December 2012. Prior to that, he was a research intern for more than a year at Microsoft Research Asia, during which time he worked on video content analysis, video synthesis, and was part of a team that was awarded a US patent for spacetime montage. An algorithm he worked on was shipped into the Windows XP Media Center Edition. Kang subsequently interned at Intel Research Seattle and Microsoft Research Redmond. In December 2013, he founded Hunch.ai, the company that created the AI-based, cloud video platform Zen Video.   

Born in 1973, Li graduated from the School of Philosophy at Renmin University of China in 1997. After graduating, he worked as an IT journalist for China Youth Daily, where he interviewed tech giants such as Jack Ma. In early 2003, Li became chief editor of the IT section of web portal Sohu and then joined web portal NetEase as chief editor of its IT section later that year. In 2005, he resigned from NetEase and founded gaming portal Duowan. In 2008, Li founded YY Inc., a live streaming social media platform that went public on Nasdaq in 2012.

Co-founder and CEO of QingCloud. A science graduate from Nanjing Tech University, Huang enjoys reading Chinese literature, especially traditional classics. He worked at IBM’s laboratories for more than 9 years, primarily focusing on cloud computing. After leaving IBM, Huang started QingCloud with two other partners to further pursue his vision of cloud computing.

Born in 1985, Wang Jianjun earned his master’s in Aircraft Design from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2010. A programming and robotics enthusiast himself, he started Makeblock in 2011. He was named as one of the 30 top entrepreneurs under the age of 30 by Forbes China in 2013.

Antonio Affinito, is an Italian electronic engineer with over 15 years of experience in radar system engineering at Leonardo Finmeccanica.Since 2015, he’s been the CTO of Evja, a pioneering Italian startup in the agritech sector that combines sensors, advanced agronomic models and AI-powered SaaS for precision farming. 

Highly successful in the Middle East, Jolly Information Technology is a Chinese cross-border e-commerce company that sells products to over 175 territories with over 20 million registered users. It currently has branches or local operating teams in Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, the Silicon Valley, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Dubai. Its online shopping app Jolly is the best-known app in the Middle East.

Pedro Luis Uriarte Santamarina was the CEO of Spanish multinational bank BBVA from 1994 to 2001. He was also the Regional Minister-Economy & Finance of the first autonomous government of the Basque Country region in Spain. After being one of the creators of the Basque Agency for Innovation, Uriarte became an early investor of Indexa Capital and Bewa7er, both of which are co-founded by Unai Asenjo Barra.

China Merchants Capital (CMC), the investment management platform of China Merchants Group, was established in 2012 with a registered capital of RMB 1 billion. As of the end of 2014, it had assets under management worth nearly US$3 billion. CMC invests mainly in the infrastructure, medical & pharmaceutical, financial services, real estate, high-tech, agriculture & foods, media, equipment machinery, mining and energy sectors, among others.

Seed Capital Bizkaia is a division the Department of Economic and Territorial Development of Bizkaia province. Recent investments include HypeLabs' US$3m seed round and the €1.5m seed round of IoT platform for industry Glartek. 

Founded in 2013, Asia Africa Investment & Consulting (AAIC) is a Japanese VC that invests in developing nations in Africa. Based in Singapore, the Japanese investment team are also involved in consultancy work. To date, AAIC has invested in eight companies. Investments during 2020 include two Egyptian startups: mobile teleradiology medtech Rology’s $860,000 seed funding in September and mental health medtech platform Shezlong’s Series A round in June.

A finance major who founded a software company in his junior year, Liu Ye studied at the University of International Business and Economics. He went on to head the software company Yinmai Technology for six years. He left Yinmai in 2014 to try his luck in the Internet industry, attracted by its vast potential.

Surabaya native, Rian Adam Rajagede, holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). He co-founded IWAK, a crowdfunding platform for freshwater fish farmers. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science at UGM while working as a lecturer of Algorithm and Data Structure at his alma mater.
