Geek meets chic in Farfetch founder and serial entrepreneur José Neves, who first learnt to code when he was eight years old. The economics graduate from the University of Porto launched his first business, software company Grey Matter, while in college. It was then that Neves started learning about the fashion industry, through building operating systems for footwear and textile business clients. He also designed shoes under the brand Swear, and after moving to the UK, Neves opened the brand’s physical store before moving to launch a menswear shop called B Store. He is currently CEO of Farfetch, the non-executive director at the British Fashion Council and the non-executive chairman at PLATFORME International.

Benny Fajarai is a serial entrepreneur in the creative industry. He co-founded a digital media agency Cactus Project while reading a Computer Science degree at Universitas Bina Nusantara in Indonesia. The agency’s clientele included cigarette firm Sampoerna and Adam Khoo Learning Technology. However, he exited Cactus Project in 2012 and co-founded Kreavi, a network and showcase platform for creative industry professionals. He was the CEO for almost three years before selling Kreavi to set up Qlapa in 2015.

Established in 2017, Educapital invests in edtech, HR and training tech startups. The French VC has stakes in 19 companies, mostly based in Europe, including participation in the €5m Series B funding of French Supermood, a contractor’s workplace engagement tool.In the edtech space, Educapital has recently joined a R$1.7m seed investment round for Brazilian edtech Blox and a €10m Series B round for Preply, a Ukrainian edtech specializing in online language learning.

From 1997 to 2001, Li Guibin finished his undergraduate studies at the Harbin Institute of Technology.In November 2004, he went to work at Alibaba as R&D manager on wireless technology for its sub-brands including Yahoo China, Koubei.com, Taobao.com and Fliggy.com.He left Alibaba in July 2014 and co-founded neighborhood social app Youlin with ex-Alibaba colleague Yang Renbin. They went on to set up edtech platform Intelligent Learning in January 2018, with Li as CTO and Yang as CEO.

Karim Pichara has a PhD in Computer Science from the Catholic University of Chile where he has been working for over 10 years since 2010. From 2011, Karim Pichara has also been working as a research associate at the Institute of Applied Computer Science, Harvard University, specializing in data mining and machine learning for astronomy. In November 2015, while at Harvard, Pichara and Matías Muchnick co-founded a plant-based foodtech, The Not Company (NotCo). Pichara became the CTO and headed the development of NotCo’s algorithm called “Giuseppe” that can analyze molecular structures of animal-based food to create similar plant-based food that cater to the human perception of taste and texture. 

María Eugenia García founded her first business in 2013, dedicated to the import and export of education materials. After a stint in Hong Kong, she closed the business and focused on developing the MenteLista platform to follow her passion for neuroscience and how it can be used to enhance children's learning.She had previously managed the Andalusian Center of Technology and Innovation (CITIC) for 11 years. She had also worked as a senior consultant at BAE Systems. She has a computer science degree from Salamanca Pontifical University and a master's in Business Administration from San Telmo International Institute.

Alain Retière is CTO and co-founder of Everimpact, a GHG monitoring company that uses satellites, ground sensors, AI and machine learning to deliver more accurate carbon emissions data to public bodies, municipalities, and businesses.Retière has rich experience in sustainable development, climate change, as well as satellite technology.  He was previously an agro-economist and senior scientific advisor at sustainable development organizations, public bodies, and international organisations, with three decades of field experience across 120 countries.  In the course of his career, Retière spent a total of 13 years as director of two satellite-related agencies under the UN.  This included three years managing CLIMSAT, a specialized center under the UNDP helping local government bodies assess the impact of climate change by using satellite and geo-spatial data, as well as 10 years at the helm of UNOSAT, the UN emergency satellite service. For his service at UNOSAT, he received the UN21 Award from UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2005.Retière graduated from Groupe Ecole supérieure d'Agriculture d'Angers and holds a postgraduate degree from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, which is now part of Sorbonne University.   

The co-founder and CEO of NutraSign Abraham Gómez Toro is passionate about creating apps for good causes. His road safety app "Watch Out" won him a scholarship at an international design competition "Creative Diary 2013" run by the Institute of European Design (IED).Originally from Venezuela, he studied graphic design at IED Madrid in 2014 and completed a master’s course at the Animum Creativity Advanced School in Malaga in 2018. Based in Madrid, he also works as a creative director at nutri-holistic products company Biomol Care SL and as a visual designer for e-learning site Banana Exams.

As part of Che Meng, one of the first startups in China’s automotive aftermarket, Chen Min (b. 1981) witnessed Che Meng’s boom and bust in three years, learning a valuable lesson about business and the sector.Chen was named to the 2016 Fortune China's 40 under 40 list of the most powerful young people in business.

Machine-learning enthusiast Pedro Fonseca studied Mechanical Engineering at Nova University of Lisbon. As an undergraduate, Fonseca and fellow CrowdProcess co-founder João Abiul Menano started the largest university-level Entrepreneurship Society in Lisbon, with financial support from the American Embassy. He co-founded CrowdProcess at aged 25 and is also one of the founders of ODMLX, the largest open data organization in Lisbon. Fonseca is Portuguese.

Hilman Fajrian started learning how to code at the age of six. By the time he reached high school, he was earning money writing software for local businesses in Balikpapan in the East Kalimantan province. He decided to read Law at Universitas Gadjah Mada, but during his time in university he also ran a software development house. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, he returned to East Kalimantan and worked for a local newspaper before starting his own in 2006. Between 2006 and 2017, Hilman also founded a digital marketing company catering to local businesses and briefly worked as a big data consultant for PLN, Indonesia's state-owned power company. He exited all his roles in late 2017 to begin work on Arkademi, a new Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) platform.

Squirrel AI co-founder Jeff Wang Feng started as an academic. He received his PhD in instructional technology from the University of Georgia in 2006. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania from 2006–2007 and the University of Virginia from 2007–2008.Wang was Director of Distance Education at Mount Saint Mary College in New York state from 2008–2011. From 2011–2014, he was Director of John Jay Online, in the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, part of the City University of New York, In 2015, Wang returned to China and joined Squirrel AI as a co-founder. In 2016, he left Squirrel AI and founded his own adaptive learning startup, Learnta Inc, of which he is CEO.

Vicky Hardiman is an experienced creative professional and self-taught programmer. After graduating from Universitas Bina Nusantara in 2010 with a degree in Visual Communication, Vicky worked at e3Learning as a multimedia developer for the Australian e-learning company. He was promoted to an art director role but left in 2014 to become a project manager at Prismafox, a graphic design company. He later became the co-founder and CTO of a crowdfunding platform for music concerts Konserku, originally known as Konsaato.

Leandro Berchielli has worked for 16 years in academic management at FAPPES, São Paulo’s faculty of research and higher learning where Blox’s feasibility study was run in 2017. He joined his brother Bruno to co-found Blox and became the startup’s chief learning officer.The law graduate also has a master’s in education from São Paulo’s Catholic Pontifical University. He has previously worked for over a decade as general manager at IPEC, São Paulo Institute of Further Education.

Co-founder and CEO of Trio.AI. Wang, who received his doctorate in Computer Science from University College London, has a decade of experience in the fields of intelligent interaction, machine learning, domain-specific dialogue systems and multi-turn dialogues. Acting in a leading role, he helped established Toshiba’s first-generation dialogue system in 2010.After returning to China in 2015, he worked at Baidu as a decision maker for its Xiaodu robot project, now known as DuerOS.
