Ex-Googler Li Zhifei ("Watch Bro") is founder and CEO of advanced voice recognition tech startup Mobvoi, producer of the bestselling TicWatch smartwatch. After graduating from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Li worked at MobileSoft on WAP and Bluetooth-related projects from 1999-2002. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University in 2010. At JHU, he built Joshua, an open-source software for machine translation. Li joined Google in 2010, where he helped create Google's mobile offline translation system. Inspired by the launch and success of Siri released in 2012, he left Google and returned to China to found Mobvoi end-2012.   

Belgian-born Laurence Fontinoy graduated in Commercial Engineering at Belgium’s Louvain Catholic University in 1994 and went on an exchange program for one year at New York’s Stern Graduate Business School. She worked for almost four years at Belgacom Mobile in Belgium, where she supervised the launch of its first prepaid card. In 1999, she moved to the Netherlands to join Dutch telecoms provider Ben as a customer development manager. After completing an MBA in 2002 at IESE University of Navarra, the mother-of-three joined eBay Spain as head of category and seller development. In 2005, she was promoted to marketing and communications director but left in 2008 to join Google as the regional country marketing manager for Spain and Portugal. In 2015, she left to become the CEO and co-founder of WOOM with former eBay colleague Clelia Morales.

The founder of two companies, Veronika Linardi earned her bachelor’s in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, and her master’s in Strategic Digital Marketing and Management Information Systems from Carnegie Mellon. Her work experience includes the Indonesian subsidiary of Thai conglomerate Charoen Pokphand, CNN and Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Previous to Qerja, Veronika founded Linardi Associates, an executive recruitment agency.

A former VP at Nasdaq-listed eFuture, a supplier of software and services to China’s retail and consumer goods industries, Zhao Tingchao has a PhD and a bachelor’s degree from Chongqing University. He had two years of experience in O2O commerce before founding Jimaisong; and was also founder and Chief Editor of Electronics World Magazine (writing on e-commerce).

Calvin Lukmantara graduated with a bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University of Indonesia. Besides co-founding Kumparan, Calvin was also a co-founder of Detikcom. He still works as a director at PT Agranet Multicitra Siberkom that owns the online media portal Detikcom. He is known as the key person responsible for M&A projects and external relationships of Detikcom.

Co-founder of Seedrs, one of Europe’s most popular crowdfunding sites, and a founding member of Beta-i, a pioneer and one of the most influential organizations in the Portuguese startup scene today, Carlos Silva holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and a master’s in Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Technico. He is currently also Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Faber Ventures.

Winner of the 2016 EU Prize for Women Innovators, Portuguese national Susana Sargento has been a professor at the University of Aveiro for almost 16 years. She received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the same university. Her main research interests are self-organized networks, e.g., routing, mobility, delay-tolerant mechanisms and content distribution networks, in ad-hoc and vehicular mechanisms and protocols. In 2012, she co-founded Veniam, a tech startup for connected and autonomous vehicles, where she also worked in engineering and corporate research from 2012 until 2014. She advises the European Commission in her areas of expertise.

Li Teng graduated in bioscience at Tsinghua University in 2011 and stayed on to complete a PhD in synthetic biology in 2016. He joined a SynBio project team to create PHA bioplastics during his postgrad research at university.Li was also the leader of Tsinghua University’s team that won a gold medal at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Design Competition. He met Zhang Haoqian at the iGEM giant jamboree in 2010 and they have remained friends ever since.Li and Zhang co-founded Bluepha in 2016, a spin-off from Tsinghua University’s SynBio research project. In 2018, Li was selected for MIT Technology Review’s list of Innovators under 35. In 2019, he was named one of the 40 Chinese business elites under 40. 

Although trained as a civil engineer, Silvia Pratama’s extensive experience in managing projects has led her to become a co-founder and CEO of Rekruta. After graduating from the University of California Berkeley in USA, she worked as an assistant project manager in a collaborative venture between Parsons Brinckerhoff and the San Francisco International Airport.

Co-founder and CEO of QingCloud. A science graduate from Nanjing Tech University, Huang enjoys reading Chinese literature, especially traditional classics. He worked at IBM’s laboratories for more than 9 years, primarily focusing on cloud computing. After leaving IBM, Huang started QingCloud with two other partners to further pursue his vision of cloud computing.

Born in 1985, Wang Jianjun earned his master’s in Aircraft Design from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2010. A programming and robotics enthusiast himself, he started Makeblock in 2011. He was named as one of the 30 top entrepreneurs under the age of 30 by Forbes China in 2013.

Sequiera is a Portuguese co-founder at UpHill, whose SaaS helps healthcare professionals keep up-to-speed on the latest clinical treatments and protocols using AI. Despite being heavily involved in the development of the software Simulate, Sequiera continues to work in the medical field full-time.He works as a consultant at the SPMS – Shared Services of the Ministry of Health in Portugal – that centralizes, optimizes and rationalizes ​the procurement of goods and services in the state health service. He also lectures part-time in Leadership and Management in Healthcare at his former university, where UpHill was established.Sequiera  has been President of ANEM, the Portuguese Medical Students’ International Committee and for two years helped develop the medical curriculum at the University of Luxembourg. He also holds a postgraduate qualification in Information Management and Business Intelligence in Healthcare from NOVA Information Management School in Lisbon.

With 10+ years’ IT experience at major Chinese companies including Shougang Group, isoftstone and  Chinasoft International, Li Dequan is a computer engineering graduate from Sichuan University (class of 2003). Before founding Fandianlianmeng, he had a business in software development.
