British Oxford-educated engineer William Reeve is a serial investor and entrepreneur who built two successful businesses Fletcher Research and LOVEFiLM.com from scratch and led them to successful exits.  He is currently Chairman of online investment management platform Nutmeg.com, CEO of proptech accelerator Goodlord and Non-Executive Director of Dunhelm Soft Furnishings. He was also Co-CEO and Chairman at grocery delivery company Hubbub.co.uk and was Non-Executive Chairman at healthy snack startup Graze.com. He was Head of Operations at Paddy Power betting agency, Managing Director of Oxalyst Systems and has been a non-executive director at a host of online platforms including Secret Escapes, Zoopla! and DealChecker.co.uk. 

CEMEX Ventures is the investment arm of global Mexican cement giant CEMEX and was established in 2017 with offices in Mexico, Spain, Colombia and China. It focuses exclusively on tech and non-tech solutions to painpoints in the construction sector. Every year, together with global management consultant Boston Consulting Group and startup monitoring platform Tracxn, it names its 50 Most Promising Startups in the Construction Ecosystem, investing in a few of the companies cited. It currently has 12 companies in its portfolio.Its most recent investments have included an undisclosed contribution to the funding round of US soil marketplace Soil Connect in 4Q 2020 and in the $1.7m July 2020 Series A round of US recycling company Arqlite. 

C4 Ventures was founded by Pascal Cagni, former VP and GM of Apple EMEIA. With offices in Paris and London, the firm invests in early-stage startups across market segments in Europe. The VC also supports later-stage companies interested in expanding into Europe. It currently has 33 startups in its portfolio with principal interests in sectors like hardware, digital media and the future of commerce and work.Recent investments in 2021 include the $54m Series B round of Austrian refurbished electronics goods marketplace Refurbed in August and the $5m seed round in June of Norbert Health, the French producers of the first ambient scanner that can measure vital signs.

NewMargin Ventures is a venture capital management firm in China focused on the IT, sustainable growth technology, biomedicine and high margin manufacturing sectors. Its Chinese investors include China Foundation of Science & Technology for Development (a joint venture between the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Shanghai Alliance Investment Co. (an investment firm founded by Jiang Mianheng, son of the former Chinese President Jiang Zemin); and its foreign investors include GIC, Kerry Group, K.Wah Group, SUNeVision, JAFCO, Motorola and Alcatel. NewMargin Ventures has invested more than US$1.7 billion in 160 companies, including 40 IPOs.

Eempat Kapital (EK) was established in 2011 by Pramadita (Riel) Tasmaya, who is also a co-founder of Muslimarket. The investment firm is also managed by team member Emilia Emil Abbas, the daughter of Dr Emil Abbas who also owns PT Ranji Karya Sakti, part of the Easco Holding conglomerate. Another team member is Aldi Harris, who was the general manager of the private family-owned Easco Holding.EK’s portfolio includes energy and oil companies, e-commerce Muslimarket, concert information website Sindhen and food chains, Chicken Run and Arasseo. EK also raises finance for startups and provides management services as needed.

Making Ideas Business was founded in 2012 by a group of 51 students and professors after the end of the 2011-2012 Master in Internet Business at ISDI, an international institution that offers training and degree programs in digital business management.Along with mentoring and industry expertise, the fund provides tech startups in the Spanish ecosystem with seed investments. It has invested €260,000 in five companies to date.The group today includes more than 78 partners and angel investors that, in total, have more than 1,000 years of professional experience and 50,000 hours of training in the internet sector.

Taavet Hinrikus is the Estonian-born co-founder and CEO of money transfer platform and unicorn TransferWise (now called Wise).  He was formerly Skype’s Director of Strategy and is a prolific angel investor across sectors and technologies, with investments in around 30 startups to date. His most recent investments include in the April 2021 $11m Series A round of automatic contract negotiator PACTUM and in the March 2021 $48m Series A round of Dutch cell-based meat startup Meatable which leverages pluripotent stem cells for the first time in foodtech.

Founded in 2009, Finnish VC Lifeline Ventures has invested in over 100 early-stage startups, with investments ranging from €100,000 to €2m. Focusing mainly on local tech startups, the VC has 71 tech and non-tech companies in its portfolio.Recent investments in April 2021 include the $100m Series C round of Finnish wellness ring and app Oura Health and the $6.2m seed round of Finnish cleantech Carbo Culture. One of Lifeline’s VC partners, Timo Ahopelto, is an advisor at student-led VC Wave Ventures that also participated in the investment round of Carbo Culture.

Orkla ASA is an Oslo-based supplier of branded consumer products to major markets in the Nordic and Baltic regions and Central Europe. Selected product categories are also available in India, known as MTR Foods brand. Popular brands include Felix, Toro, Panda and Abba.Originally founded in 1654, Orkla is one of Norway’s oldest business conglomerates and became public-listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (ORKLY) in 1929. Orkla Foods accounts for 39% of the group’s operating revenues. Two other subsidiaries, Orkla Care and Orkla Food Ingredients generate about 43% of the group’s operating revenues. The Orkla Confectionery & Snacks division contributes about 15%.

Mitchell Presser is a New York-based lawyer. He is currently co-chair of global law service Morrison & Foerster’s Global Corporate Department and a partner in the firm’s M&A and Private Equity group, advising on agriculture, amongst other areas. He previously was a founding partner of Paine Schwartz, a US-based $1.2 bn private equity firm specializing in sustainable food chain investing from 2006 to 2014. His sole disclosed angel investment to date was an undisclosed sum in the pre-seed funding of NovoNutrients, the US-based biotech producer of alt-protein from fermentation using CO2 and other emissions, 

Started in 2008 by Joe Zhou (Zhou Zhixiong), one of the founders of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers' China fund, Keytone Ventures primarily invests in high-growth companies in the cleantech, media, hi-tech and consumer sectors.

Lightspeed China Partners is a venture capital firm focusing on early-stage investments in China internet firms. In the past 20 years, Lightspeed China has invested in more than 60 companies in China; more than 70% of the investments were in seed or Series A rounds, where Lightspeed China was the lead investor in over 90% of the financings. In 2016, Lightspeed China launched its first RMB fund of 500 million.

These organizations are focused on the field of internet knowledge exchange and business services.

American health insurance provider Blue Cross Blue Shield is based in Chantilly, Virginia. It is a subsidiary of Anthem Health Plans of Virginia Inc. The company publishes a BCBS health index, based on data collected from 40m members, that can be used by clinicians and other healthcare bodies for research and improvement of services. BCBS members have access to medical assistance, doctors and hospitals in many countries around the world.
