Patrão is a Portuguese co-founder at UpHill whose SaaS helps healthcare professionals keep up-to-speed on the latest clinical treatments and protocols using AI. Despite being heavily involved in the development of the software Simulate, Patrão continues to work in the medical field full-time.He has spent the last decade working at Viseu’s Tondela Hospital Center in the intensive care unit as a physician. He also lectures part-time at his former university Beira Interior, where UpHill was established, and is a researcher for the RISRECP,  the Colombia-based Iberian Network of Researchers in Renal Health and Common Chronic Illnesses.The co-founder also helps produce clinical simulations for producer Hands on Education and holds a doctorate in Medicine from Beira Interior University.

Squirrel AI co-founder Jeff Wang Feng started as an academic. He received his PhD in instructional technology from the University of Georgia in 2006. He then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania from 2006–2007 and the University of Virginia from 2007–2008.Wang was Director of Distance Education at Mount Saint Mary College in New York state from 2008–2011. From 2011–2014, he was Director of John Jay Online, in the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, part of the City University of New York, In 2015, Wang returned to China and joined Squirrel AI as a co-founder. In 2016, he left Squirrel AI and founded his own adaptive learning startup, Learnta Inc, of which he is CEO.

Civeta is a Madrid-based VC fund founded in 2013 by a small group of Spanish angel investors. He also completed a CFA financial analysis qualification in 2015 and MBA from Strathmore Business School in 2018.He worked at UAP Insurance for almost four years before joining Deloitte in South Africa in 2012 as a consulting actuary. In 2014, he was promoted to become director of actuarial and insurance advisory. He left in 2018 to focus on his work at Pula as co-CEO.

Yu is the founder and chairman of NYSE-listed New Oriental Education & Technology Group. Upon graduating from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in English in 1985, he started teaching English at his alma mater. Yu resigned from the university in 1991 and, two years later, founded the New Oriental School, where students learned how to pass the TOEFL exam or score high on the GRE. In 2014, he co-founded Hongtai Capital Holdings (Aplus Capital), which manages over RMB 20 billion in assets, with fellow entrepreneur Sheng Xitai. As an angel investor, Yu invests mainly in edtech startups. 

One of the earliest and independent VC firms in China, Chengwei Capital was founded in Shanghai in 1999. It’s also the first and only evergreen fund in China.With Yale University Endowment as its largest investor, the VC limited partners also include institutional investors from around the world. With a portfolio of about 30 companies, the firm mainly invests in manufacturing, consumer goods, education, internet and petroleum & natural gas.In 2012, Chengwei and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) jointly launched the $100m CEIBS-Chengwei Venture Capital Fund to invest in early- and growth-stage companies founded or managed by CEIBS alumni. The VC also seeks to support entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses over a long period of time, acting as their long-term business partner.
